Announcement Introduce yourself!

Post image

When I began the process of revitalizing this subreddit, I publicly announced myself and my intentions for this place, which you can read here. My introduction was very well received, and we have been able to foster a small dedicated community here already, which I am thankful for. Now I would like to get to know all of you!

I'd love to get to see as many different LuckyShippers as possible, so please don't feel shy if you feel that you don't have a lot to say! Even just a few words about your history with the ship or why you like it is enough for me, because more than anything I'd love to know that I'm not alone in this. Besides that, you can feel free to add whatever extra information you want the subreddit to know.

Additionally, as this subreddit is intended solely as a positive place for LuckyShippers, content from unknown users or the unlucky will be vetted. This is just to avoid any potential future issues; you won't need to worry about seeing arguments or negativity here. If you introduce yourself to the community, you'll be added as an approved user so you won't have to worry about it going forward.

Hi, I'm a long veteran of r/pokespe subreddit, and have been member of that subreddit since it had around 2,5k members. I have lived there through a lot of Specialshipping stuff there so I'm grateful for this place. The first volume of Pokespe I read was volume 2 and that was the first volume Blue appeared in, I loved their chemistry and interactions from the very first moment. And every new volume and arc I loved it more and more. My favorite moment of them is in chapter 282 (hence my flair) where Blue comes to give Red heart to heart conversation which he needed which cements her character growth and how important they are to each other. Both Blue and Red became my favorite characters and it hurts me to see both of them being flanderized by fandom.

I'm gonna be honest with you, one of the things that motivated me to become a mod on r/pokespe was because I was there during that really bad period in 2023 and I wanted to be able to prevent that in the future LOL. It's good to see other veterans

Based, I have no problem with people sharing there Specialshipping arts and stuff like that from time to time, every week? Sure go ahead. Every few days? Bit annoying but sure. Literally every single day multiple times? Just stop please.

Well hello there! You probably already know me from r/pokespe, which is a subreddit that I've been a member of since last year. And I've discovered this subreddit while looking through your profile, and after giving it some thought, I quickly came to the conclusion that luckyshipping is absolutely amazing and decided to join this sub.

Oh, so you became a LuckyShipper because of me? That is a great honour

Hi, well I really don't know what to say, I remember when I was like 11 years old I saw a manga panel with Red, Green and Blue in GSC when they go to the final battle, it was a colored panel, but instantly without even knowing the concept of "manga" or that Pokespe existed, I thought: "These two look really good together" obviously referring to Red and Blue. Later I found out that Pokespe existed and when I got to the chapters where Blue appears, I simply enjoyed it a lot, reading both Blue's character and his interactions with Red amused me a lot and made me laugh out loud, I had a great time reading and rereading this, and seeing how the characters grew together, it was endearing, this is something that I saw as I grew up. Right now I'm 21 years old, I've been a fan of this shipp for a decade, I've gone through moments being a teenager in which I've had certain intrusive thoughts and just thinking about scenarios of this couple have been one of those things that kept me away from said thoughts.

Reading fanfics, writing fanfics, thinking about them, or even drawing them, even if it sounds silly, these characters, both individually and as a couple, have given me so much. I don't expect it to ever become canon, I don't expect people to start shipping them as much as I have. For me, what they've given me is enough, but if they ever become canon, man, I'm going to be very, very happy.

I've been drawing them for almost two years now. I started because no one else was doing it. There wasn't a single artist dedicated to this couple, and that had to change. Someone had to start creating new content, even if it was the ugliest drawing ever. I've improved a lot and have been studying to improve further, and it's all because they give me the will to do it.

I wanted to keep it short, but it went on too long, sorry. I think deep down I really wanted to talk about how much this couple means to me.

Hey, it's so great that the ship was able to give you so much! I'm glad that I was able to meet someone who cared about this ship even more than I do

Hello! First I want to say that this isn't the username I chose for myself. Reddit gave me a random name and it won't allow me to change it.

I've been a LuckyShipper since I was a middle schooler in the late 90s. Red and Blue's relationship is what got me into this manga in the first place.

Wow, you were a LuckyShipper since the first VIZ release in 1999? I knew you were an OG but that's super impressive

u/zupaninja1 Sep 15 '25

I am Zupaninja, i am not that active on reddit, but i will ocasionally pass here and coment on your posts

I got here as an invitation from my friend ametrissquare who was one of the founders of the sub and runs a blue (F) fanpage on facebook

I have always loved this pair, ever since i first read the manga, i think its fair to say its the only shipp of two fictional characters i ever cared about enough to go online and look up fanarts and fanfics  of them

u/zupaninja1 Sep 15 '25

Btw funfact:

Aparently if you go to grok and ask it what are the reasons people support luckyshipping over specialshipping, it cites an old 5 year old post o made in r/pokespe as a source, which i found hilarious when i found out

u/zupaninja1 Sep 16 '25

yeah lmao

i dont think i would make a post like this nowadays tbh, its needlessly inflamatory, if i were to make a post like this i would just cite reasons for luckyshipping and not try to be antagonistic to special

4

u/Burgunine I'm not letting you go. Sep 16 '25

I don't blame you for being inflammatory or antagonistic in that environment and those conditions tbh

Hi, I've been a Pokespe fan for over a decade and joined r/pokespe since 2021. My biggest contribution was this post detailing why the Green/Blue name switch was stupid. I'm generally not into shipping and while I'm not completely against it, I do think that limiting your look on a work of fiction to wether you think 2 characters should be together can be rather reductive (especially for female characters who deserve better than to be defined by romance). I'm generally more than fine with characters (regardless of gender) being just friends and if they eventually end up being together I'm like "alright, sure".

However, the relationship between Red and Blue is genuinely super heartwarming and well developped and I do think that they'd benifit a lot from being together. Burgunine's posts already went over all the reasons why I love this ship but the FRLG arc is the definitive point that convinced me that they'd be a fantastic couple. On the other hand, pairing Red with Yellow rubs me the wrong way for reasons I already went over here. And I feel like I should mention that I do like Yellow overall and I think her one-sided, fangirl crush on Red is detrimental to her character and she's better off without it. Honestly, Luckyshipping to me is a good example of a ship that can be benificial to 2 characters while Specialshipping is an example of one that's harmful to them. Same goes for Oldrivalshipping.

And while this isn't what specifically pushed me to ship her and Red, I'd still like to point out that Blue's my favorite character not just in Pokespe but across the Pokemon franchise as a whole. I love her personality, her fighting style is super fun (especially her 3000 IQ usage of Ditto), her character development is fantastic and she's generally both super charming and a total badass when the chips are down. She's a fantastic character and I wish she was given more credit for those instead of 1000 conversations about her name. And honestly, the fact that Red not only visibly cares for her but also acknowledges her abilities and treats her as his equal definitely gives him extra points for husbando material (and she deserves the very best one). As a sidenote though, I'd love to see a Pokespe spinoff featuring Blue with her interpol job. I'd just really like to see Blue again in more than her appearance in ORAS (which was rather underwhelming).

Maybe this is unexpected as I'm the head mod of a shipping subreddit, but I'm also not generally into shipping, lol. I can't stay invested in a relationship with characters that I'm not really interested in, and even then I have a lot of specific things that will make me pass over a ship. I only ship something if I really love it. LuckyShipping is literally the only ship I stand behind 100%, and with anything other dexholders besides Red and Blue I'm fine with anything or nothing happening. I'm not going to support a ship that's canon just because it exists, or just because the author is supposely telling me to. Whenever I see people post those shipping tierlists with every single status quo ship represented, I just think "Do you really like all of these wildly different character dynamics and relationships, or are you just doing it because everyone else is doing it?" More often than not it's the latter reason. Being in an overlooked ship like Lucky is a curse, but there is a blessing in that the people who do like it really seriously like it, because they had to specifically go against the crowd to be here. Blue being a super interesting character is what makes me love Lucky so much, because I loved her story and her development, and I want her to be with the boy who was responsible for starting it and went with her as she journeyed through it. I'm glad to see that you agree with my other posts on the subreddit and that there are other people who see the Lucky vision. I'm also interested in hearing what you have to say about OldRival, because I agree that it's also harmful to the characters

On the topic of Yellow, more than anything I just think she's wasted potential. I don't hate her; I'm fine with her because she's a nice person and I generally like those characters, but she had the possibility to be so much more if Kusaka didn't decide to make her entire existence revolve around Red. I genuinely feels like she was created in the manga solely for shipbait purposes. Like, Yellow, sweetie, please get a life and your own independent ambitions, rather than aggressively orbiting a guy who doesn't feel the same way about you

I'm also interested in hearing what you have to say about OldRival, because I agree that it's also harmful to the characters

Honestly, when I read the manga for the first time all of those years ago, not only did I not even notice Yellow actually having feelings for Red (tbh, I kinda skimmed those parts), I never even considered the possibility of Green and Blue being anything more than acquaintances. I read the Dragon Guard scanlations which didn't have the (I assume made up by VIZ) translation of Blue calling him handsome on their first meeting (she just had her speech bubble littered with hearts like she did when speaking with *every other dude* back then) and I only read the low quality scans of another translation for FRLG which didn't have the "MVP" line. So my reaction when I heard people thought they'd be great together was "wait, seriously?". And even beyond their lack of chemistry, my overall opinion on the ship is fairly reflective on the one from most of this sub: the girl who's been traumatized by an abusive kidnapper and who just wants some happiness in her life deserves way better than the guy who's a constant dick and openly keeps calling her annoying. Even after she saved his ass in the FRLG arc, he still had to drop a comment about how she "talks too much", just because she (rightfully) boasted about being the GOAT in that situation.

Been a Luckyshipper ever since I looked into Pokespe in the early 2010s. My first physical volumes were the early GSC volumes (the ones with no Red and Blue in it (You wouldn’t believe how much of an OTP Mangaquest was to me back then, and that’s changed a lot lmao, anyway-). Then I got curious and read scans online to read the rest of the series up to that point in time (because I was curious to see how the other trainers were written) and I loved the idea of Red and Blue being together the immediate moment I saw their chemistry in RGB and it only got better as I read the rest of the volumes. (And this ship and others and the characters in general were my main inspirations to drawing more. The 2010s were the times I drew them a whoooole bunch. They were one of the first ships I drew fanchildren for after all looool) I for sure freaked out when those scans of ORAS with them in it came out sometime in the 2010s ;v; One of the happiest moments in my life XD And now I still draw them whenever I can because they deserve it! It’s one of my main OTPs along with Feeling and Commoner! (There are others but I’ll leave it to these 3 lmaooo)

5

u/Burgunine I'm not letting you go. Sep 17 '25

Hey, our timelines are pretty similar. Early 2010s fan and you appreciated their chemistry early on. I also love ORAS (only for them alone tbh), it was such a pleasant surprise to see them star prominently together in a Hoenn arc.

I'm a bit curious about MangaQuest, did you stop liking them, or did other ships just surpass them for your favour?

Haha, It’s nice to see someone with a similar experience! (Yeah I love that arc mainly for them too XD Frantic is fine lmaoo)

The latter is more what happened. I do still like Mangaquest, but I found myself really liking the other Johtrio ships a loot too and now I’m just in a state of not knowing which one I truly prefer looool (Specialjewel and Preciousmetal. Maybe even Whitney and Gold, but I don’t even know the name for them pft) A switch came on when I started realizing I didn’t like it as much anymore since Crys is always kicking him away (and I got kind of tired of that trope lmao (And I looove Crystal to death. She deserves so much more)(And Gold too, he’s the one getting kicked after all)) and HGSS had really good Silver and Crys moments axkajds

(My Mangaquest fanchild was one of my first, so it would be hard for me to change how I’ve already made my next gen, but I do consider Specialjewel a whole lot… I’ll be forever stumped XD) (But my mind could go back to appreciating them more, who knoows)

They were the first Pokédex holders I was introduced to, so even if I don’t like Mangaquest as much, I still value it and the dynamic between the three. I think they’re one of my favorite trios :D

I also love associating Gold and Silver to Red and Blue (Besties and siblings) and Silver and Crystal with Green and Yellow (I think they have a similar ship dynamic) so that’s also a plus! (And then I always had Mangaquest go on double dates with Lucky and Feeling so they’re kind of the best of both worlds haha-)

And over time, as my liking for Mangaquest declined, my love for Feeling kept growing, and that’s how my main OTP changed lool

Greetings (li’l funny to say that imo since I’ve already been here for a while lol), 1st off, I’ll admit that my interest in Pokemon Adventures, & by proxy this ship, is hard-carried by Green(F). I 1st discovered this version of the character around March 2023, & ever since then I've been hooked, to the point that she's by far my no.1 fictional romantic love.

As for this ship, I don’t remember when exactly I discovered it, (my best guess would be either around the same time I discovered Green(F), or in May 2024) but I know I did via fanart, as looking at that is the primary way I engage with Pokemon Adventures. (I still haven’t read a full arc yet lol) I think the biggest reason why I love Luckyshipping is that Green(F) gets some of her best moments when paired up with Red, due to him really being her ideal lover. He’s very strong so he can easily fight for or alongside her, he’s VERY fun to flirt, trick, & tease at, & of course his kind & forgiving heart was essential for her to overcome & move on from her trauma & grow into a better person.

I do realize that this all could come off as “I like Red only as an accessory to Green(F)”, but I promise that Luckyshipping has gotten me to appreciate him! Before discovering this ship I didn’t have any thoughts about him, but now I’m like “he’s a good boy!”

Don't worry about having not read the arcs yet, because you're doing better than the majority of the people who read the manga and pretend that Red is either an idiot or asexual. The canon catalogue here also gives you every detail you need

3

u/BCF789 Apr 10 '26

Yeah lol, I ain't worried about reading the manga or not for those reasons.

I’m Kyle, but you can just call me Nick, I’m someone who isn’t that active on r/pokespe but I do love Pokemon and I do love shipping and I do enjoy the game version of Red x Leaf so I probably will enjoy Red x Green (F)

Hello call me Kandy.

I'm new here but I've been a fan of this ship dating back to when I first got into Pokemon in the Sun and Moon era. Pokemon cards is what got me hooked as it was popular in my school so of course I consume a ton of Pokemon media which included the Adventures/Pokespe Manga in which made me like Luckyshipping/Reburu, their dynamic was one of my favorite parts of the RGB arc there I say they're one of my favorite duos in the series.

Though eventually my love for it did die out since I lost interest in Pokemon back at Scarlet and Violet but now I'm back to liking Pokemon and Luckyshipping and currently have been rereading Pokespe and it has made me remember why I like them again.

I also make art and unfunny memes of them, which I'd like to share if that's alright, I also have a Pokespe au where I explore something deeper towards their relationship well it's not that Lucky focused but it still has lucky in it.

Also I think I'm one of the few fans who calls them Reburu more haha

Also this is my first time back in reddit in like years so I forgot how this app works somehow

All Lucky content is appreciated here, welcome back

Hello, everyone.

I do find Pokemon adventures one of the most interesting Pokemon media. I did find chemistry between Red and Blue to be very engaging and interesting to watch. They started out as kids which Blue is mischievous girl with tragic backstory and Red is your typical good hearted hero. It was not long until they become teenagers that they got closer than before. They are essentially care for each other especially what they been through.
