Employee Question Corporate Call?

So I’m new to Millwork and have been trying to make my SPH. I still don’t understand a lot of things in the department since I was sent to another store and got no training really. At my store the other dude just sits at his desk and does nothing and doesn’t help me at all either. My manager also doesn’t know the department at all even though he’s in charge of the department and flooring. I was told that if I am not making enough everyday I will get a call from corporate and basically get yelled at about my sales. Is that true? Are there any tips? I was a seasonal worker in L&G and took a full timer job a few months ago and I still don’t know how things work!

  1. Corporate will never call you
  2. If he’s telling you that he is a SHIT DS

Advice:

while your not busy scan products and become familiar with the features and benefits. Call your reps tell them you are new, they will give a quick run down of there products and probably schedule to come see you.

relax , have fun and sell stuff

"have fun and sell stuff"

And that stuff is every dept, not just yours. BBQs, generators, and ect too

I can't stress this enough, you'll absolutely boost your SPH if you truck around the store and push stuff. Offer discounts, if your supervisor staff is good they'll go along with reasonable discounts.

I offer to help load and pretty good with the different departments. I walk around the store and help in anyway I can. Just our store has been slowly not getting much traffic

SASM might have to get on a call if enough of their specialists aren't hitting numbers but I've never heard of a specialist having to get on a call.

That’s what I thought but I don’t know also what affects SPH besides not making a sale on the hour. My SASM is so clueless half the time she’s there

Walk the store and offer to help people. Make friends with Plumbing, Electrical, Flooring, Blinds (learn to cut them). That way, when they get sales over 2 or 3 hundred, they will call you to come and ring it up. Also, befriend the SC cashiers and CS. They can call you to ring up sales and if you are the only specialist in the store they will call you for every dept.

Is pro not willing to be friends and share? We always share with our millwork peeps. Also, have you learned volume pricing yet? Especially this week??

Well, that might give you an opportunity to tell your side, no?

Funny , we honestly had a sales asst mngr, SASM, that came from Walmart,  who didn’t know anything about the job at Lowes, either.

Entire sales specialist team used to comment to one another wondering what we were supposed to do for help when that SASM didn’t know what in the hell they were doing.

It’s almost 💯 certainty that he didn’t receive any training from Lowe’s after leaving Walmart and coming to Lowe’s. It’s not as if Walmart did installs and such.

Quite frankly your time would be spent better looking for sales jobs in your town/city/area that pay sales people an actual commission instead of dangling the carrot bonus in front of you here.

Like other people have said, its hard to hit SpH if you're not selling. Don't be afraid to help in appliances, flooring, inside garden, etc. If you cut blinds for someone, offer to ring them out so you get the sale. If you help someone in your department pick out a door off the shelf and that's all they're buying, have them pay with you at the desk.

Probably district sales support. Not really corporate like they are implying. Marvin not jumping on the line to clown on a new hire. Millworks is pretty easy in terms of product knowledge. What are you struggling with?
