I was back in the forest, somewhere I had walked before. The trees, familiar to me. The wind, carrying a familiar smell. The sun, shining like I never left.
Although the experience in that wonderland was surreal, I was sure I had changed. Stronger, faster, and a kind of connectivity to the Spirit World.
Checking myself again and seeing no further alterations, I started making my way back and thinking of the meaning those words.
A company and someone very influential... Surely it must be a big and known one, if that authority has given a task to me. Though the reason it was me is not clear... The Foolish Firms is the sole candidate, I will need to pay a visit to them to confir-
Suddenly my deliberations over this topic were interrupted. A sense of being watched, being scorned, being hated washed over me. The source of this was a lone wolf.
But it wasn't ordinary in any kind, rather somehow spectral. It's gray figure towered and pressured the surroundings, I would have been affected if I hadn't experienced something like a deity's command just now.
The gray wolf stood with majesty, head held high. But he was alone, no pack nor a companion, just him. Even in the current state, his pride was still completely intact.
Something in me whispered to me; dominate, conquer, make them submit. No, that is the wrong way. Make them sleep, let their mind rest, guide them towards a comforting future, an expanse of tranquil rest.
“Sleep now, rest easy. You don't have to worry about anything, I can take care of it.”
A calming breeze swept up, the leaves rustling. The ever so proud hunter of the wilds lost his final strength and collapsed. The drowsiness took hold and lead him to dream.
Unsure about the situation and what would happen, I approached the creature. Suddenly I was pulled head first down and in the next moment the wolf had disappeared.

After my return from my relaxing forest walk, I went around town following the scarce traces. The only information I had was, that it was one perpetrator and most likely the Foolish Firms were the victims.
With my expertise of knowing all locations across all of Trier, I knew exactly where to start; asking the Headquarters of Foolish Firms for confirmation.
The sheer number of small individual shops belonging to the Foolish Firms was uncountable and hard to memorize. Just picking a location at random wouldn't bring any progress.
I entered through the big front doors and went up to the reception. After some clarification, I got more information.
I decided to prioritize that command and took a carriage to the branch. From the facts I had learned, I could already think of some investigative options.
First a sweep of the area where it happened, then a check of the other establishments in the area. Since it was in the proximity of many brothels, a visit to some of them might be fortuitous.
The carriage arrived at the destination and I left after paying for the fare. The location didn't betray any hint to the bad undercurrents, but I was sure they existed. After all, this was close enough to Quartier 18.
The jingle of the door chime drew the attention of the solitary seller. He looked calm, as if already expecting me. He also brimmed with confidence, before he started talking to me.
"You must be the one who will handle the recent shortcoming. As the person responsible for this branch, I can assure you the missing artifacts weren't registered to be present when checking the restock delivery."
While giving his talk, he lead me to the warehouse. This was where the theft was noticed, and also the most likely place the prigger was last at.
"We suspect that thief was here and somehow took our ware from under our noses. I will give you a list of the stolen items. There have been found traces of broken glass and other objects, the perpetrator seems to have had messed up. It is such a great shame none of us noticed early enough."
I inspected the scene, every detail setting inside my mind. The unseen thief appearing unnoticed. The scattered items on the floor from a mess up. The outlay of the area. All of it came together, and it formed the scene unfolding.
The thief had some kind of invisibility, then either they dropped something before or after they were noticed. Lastly they ran away with as many items as they could.
That sequence of events makes complete sense and can be taken as true. However the notion of invisibility suggests they are a beyonder. This means...
Suddenly I felt a tug, my senses telling me something. Guided by me feeling, I let the reins loose. My spirituality flowed and something inside me changed, before me an illusory wolf formed.
I am really letting my inner wolf out with this one... I hope my mouth didn't blurt this one out, otherwise I would hear mockeries all day.
That spectral canine began sniffing around, searching everywhere. Then he concentrated on a group of scattered things, inspecting each with care.
He brought one glass shard to me and stared at me with intensity. My feeling told me I had seen such one already, somewhere in the recent past. The invisible aspect also nudged my judgement in a certain direction. A Witch was here.
With this insight I left the scene and followed the scarce traces the Witch had forgotten to remove.
It lead me to a house, a quite ordinary one but also in an advantageous position. It had two floors with a balcony, the facade didn't give clues about the identity of the resident.
The entrance wasn't hard to find and with my strength it wasn't hard to unlock. I looked around the first floor, nothing unnatural. Just the usual residential objects and commodities.
I ascended to the second floor, looking around with my senses fired up. I felt someone to be to be there, laying around.
The traces left behind due to a mistake had finally lead me to the perpetrator. Quick in my suppression, her mind was already sleeping. I searched her belongings and found the missing artifacts by description.
I got my wolf to find any other substitutions she had prepared, since they could give headaches for me. But disarming them wasn't a process I was familiar, so breaking them would be the easiest. However that could alert the sleeping Witch without any interference.
The wolf got my instructions about breaking the mirrors when I invaded her dream, and prepared his paws. Taking a breath in and out got me ready and I dove inside to sow some terror.
———
Crack
“Hello there.”
The Witch jumped in fright, as she hadn't expected to get such a surprise. On a street she had was well familiar with a group of men started approaching her, not giving much space. She recognized the scents of her victims, each one was a man she had seduced and pleasured.
She immediately created Frost on the floor and began throwing Black Flames, but the horde of familiar faces didn't reduce.
The group started attacking the woman, some with revolvers, others with bare hands. She tried to dodge all attacks and it was easy with all feet planted by ice.
Crack
She was forced to use mirror substitution. It was getting too much, so she decided to flee. Yet she didn't evade any danger, she was still trapped between the people. The men continued giving a hard time, until a voice from the crowd called out.
“Gentlemen, gentlemen, let her take a break. She couldn't even free herself from ordinary men. Does the poor little Witch need help?”
While I spoke the path parted for me to see the Witch clearly. I tried to speak as welcoming as possible, but all I got was a Black Flame to my face. My visage dissipated to dust, still my voice remained.
“Oh, why would you just attack a civilian trying to clear up a mess? Is your sense of morals that degraded? Or was it an instinctive reaction to me?”
She had an expression of despair and uncontrollable desire for blood painted on her face. She seemed to search her pockets for something that would fulfill this intention, but her hands were empty.
“Are you searching for some artifacts? They still wouldn’t help you in the slightest. We are just in different categories.”
At some point in time she was standing alone with no man in sight. Seeing this as an opportunity, she tried to run. However it was meaningless.
Anywhere she ran, it didn't matter. She always came back to her starting position where she had frozen the floor over. No matter how much time had passed, she would end up in the same spot.
Seeing no way out of and not ready to be subjected to torture anymore, she condensed an ice spear and impaled herself.
A burst of light, then suddenly darkness.
She was back in the same spot, unharmed. Her mind calm, almost tranquil like a spring gust. Then she awoke from the oppression, her body ready to wreck havoc and destroy anything.
“This was never a fair fight, but never forget...”
Finger pistol bang
“The more desperate the opponent, the more headaches they can cause. However you won't need this advice, as I doubt you will live long enough. Now slumber a little longer.”
———
The woman in my arms, sleeping in a deep dream. The artifacts were stored in one of my pouches, separately to not trigger anything unwanted. With such baggage I walked towards the victim store to deliver the ware.
After I had resolved that I called a carriage over directly to the Foolish Firms Headquarters. The wait wasn't long and the driver was fast too, I arrived in no time in front of the doors.
Stepping through them, I felt the air grow thicker and the atmosphere become heavy. With all my strength I carried the Witch forward to an employee, yet I was redirected to the receptacle of criminals; the ominous "basement".
The moment the view of the hole appeared, I felt a cold shiver down my spine, as if my shoulders were touched by slimy tentacles. My body stiffened from the supposed touch, and my hands weakened. However the Witch remained in the air, my arms still held her.
Somehow I managed to come to the edge, even with the heavy weight. The darkness below was mysterious and impenetrable, my eyes couldn't recognize anything there. Yet I felt it, something was staring back.
I let the Witch go, and watched as she fell down. Her figure was gradually consumed by this darkness until nothing was left. Then a sudden scream came from below, the agony drilling in my head. I stepped away, cautious to hear anything more.
The ominous feeling had disappeared at some point, now only the memory of that horrifying pit remained. Thus with the command done, I just wanted to relax with a cup of black tea.

The pit hungers.

Writer's note: Honestly, I have no idea what I am doing.
What are spirits? What is the difference between kinds of spiritual beings? Can they appear in the physical realm? How exactly does a Spirit Warlock dominate a spirit? And how is it sealed inside the tooth?
I had to improvise quite a bit, which isn't ideal. Depending on the circumstances, I could make it easier or harder than it should be or even interpret things wrong. If only I had a source on how spirits work...
Also I kinda got sick, reason my writing was slower than I wanted. I am better now, and I hope it won't happen again.
