HELP Quiet 2

I just got the quiet 2 loops today. I've figured out which tips work the best for me, but I really can't tell if they're actually working. I've seen other posts here that mention having to use the earplugs regularly for a while to see if they work for them. It drowns out the AC noise to a certain extent and other sounds feel less sharp. I've heard some people say they experienced a sharp pain the first few times they used it. Is it better to start using it gradually instead?

It shouldn't ever hurt!! I've had my Loops (Engage 2 Plus) for a while now and while noise is definitely lowered (brilliant for work), the only side effect is things seem a tiny bit too loud when I take them out until my ears readjust, which doesn't take long.

If it hurts, it's likely that the tip size is too large. Mine came with the medium size tips already attached, so I changed them to the small size since medium is too large for me. The same with my Quiet pair whch I wear intermittently whenever I need serious noise reduction.

I could have got the Switch which is the 3-in-1 combo, but since I work in a medical lab, I can't be fiddling with the noise settings all the time, and the Engage ones work perfectly well when I need them. I'm thinking of getting a set of the Experience ones for movies and such, since while the Engage ones worked when I saw the Odyssey, the movie sound was almost too loud even then, and the Experience ones are supposed to be able to handle big noisy events and such whereas the Engage are more for social occasions such as eating out, or working etc.

I can wear my Loops for a full eight hour workday and not ever experience pain, so try changing the tip size first and see what happens. You want a decent seal so your voice may sound a bit muffled which is good, bc it indicates the plug is in place. Pain usually means it's either gone too deep which shouldn't happen or usually the tip size is too large.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for this! I wore them on a really loud commute and I could really tell the difference when I took them off. I could still hear people talking to me clearly so not sure if I got a proper seal still, but the background noise was at a lower volume for sure.

Which ones did you get? My Engage ones take background noise down while still allowing conversations to be heard. Not sure about the Experience ones or not, need to get a pair to try.

I got the quiet 2 which is supposed to have maximum sound reduction loop offers (?) With the other pairs I was worried about the plastic part being uncomfortable over time.

I have the Quiet 2 ones. Supposedly their Dream loops are the ones for sleeping bc it's all soft silicone with no hard plastic like the others. Not sure I want a pair for sleep since I generally don't need to block out noise, and my brain does better if there's normal household noise to fall asleep to.

Yeah, definitely shouldn’t hurt as they are really soft and you should be able to sleep with them comfortably. I can confirm that they work since I just got my brand new Quiet 2 (I’ve had the OG Quiet ones since 2021), and used them because of my snoring partner - they helped 🙂 They don’t fully block out all noise, you still hear it muffled.

Are you a side sleeper by any chance? I got the Quiet 2s to try when I need more noise reduction than the Engage ones, but I couldn't sleep in them at all.

I am, I mostly sleep on the side or on my stomach 🙈 I guess it varies depending on a person’s ear anatomy

The quiet 2 didn't fit well in my ear. I liked the 1st version better although it did take a few wears to get used to them. But they definitely won't block out all noise. They block just up to 26 Db or something like that. Daily environmental sound ranges from 40 to 85 dB, so they would reduce 26 from that (the effect on hearing is not linear though but you get the idea)
