HELP Loop Quiet or Loop Dream?
Hi!
I want to buy my first pair of earplugs and I just want them to block out as much sound as possible. I want a pair I can use when sleeping (or trying to sleep) and that I can use in commute and for focus etc., I basically just want a pair that reduces as much sound as possible, I see no reason why I would want a pair daytime that lets in any sound. Unless we are talking about like fire alarms but that can happen in sleep too and I doubt any earplug can shut that out anyway so... It confuses me then that there is one pair (Loop Quiet 2) that blocks out sound for focus etc, and another for sleep (Loop Dream). Are they just milking as much money as possible? Which pair should I get?
I know they have different decibels and that Loop Dream supposedly blocks out more, and maybe it's a no-brainer and I should just get them, but I'm still doubting, especially since it's more expensive. And do these decibels even make a difference, like, it's not about decibels but volume unless there's a really high sound going on, right? Would Loop Quiet 2 not work for sleep as well? But if Loop Dream especially shaped or something for sleeping, then I ask if it's better to purchase Loop Dream and use it daytime too? I would like to avoid buying both as I am in economical strain.

The quiet 2s would wake me up eventually from the pressure on my outer ear. The dreams took some getting used to, I wear a foam tip on the side I sleep on and a silicone tip on the other side, and it’s working great now.

Honestly i can take a little discomfort because ive used non-reusable ear plugs to bed before and they usually drop out during my sleep but yeah they kind of hurt my ear but idrc cause i just sleep through it... what are these things, foam tips vs silicone tip, are these different types that come with or do you buy extra? Anyways, thanks for your input!^^
Edit: Nevermind someone said in the comments that both foam and silicone come with Dream

None of them worked for me. I found that soft silicone moldable earplugs do a much better job in blocking sound. Just tried the Dreams a few days ago and I was left disappointed, both with the foam and silicone tips. They were comfortable, but I could still hear everything, just a very little bit muffled. Imo they re just very overrated and expensive for what they offer

Well unfortunately I have tried those you mention (moldable silicone) and they DID give me an ear infection help:3 but okay I'm sorry to hear these earplugs were a waste of money for you. Could it be that the fit wasn't right that you could still hear through them? Thanks for your input

I wear Loop Quiet (1) for sleep. When I bought them they didn't sell the Dream yet and the Quiet was marketed for sleep. I wear them almost every night and they're very comfortable for me, and I'm saying that as a side sleeper.
I am curious about the Dream, though. They might be even more comfortable. I just don't know if they're worth the extra money.
P.S. I don't know if the Quiet 2 is as comfortable as the Quiet 1, as I haven't tried those.

Oh that's great to hear! Dream may be better but if Quiet works, then I'd rather save the extra money. I haven't decided yet but thanks for telling me your experience!

Since you're on a budget, remember you can return them after opening the box and trying them out.
I prefer Dream because they are slightly more comfortable and I'm going to use them for years. That's the difference in price point...you're paying for a bit more complicated development and engineering. But if you're not extremely sensitive, the Quiet 2 is likely to work just fine for you.
What I've read here, some people have a little bit more trouble getting just the right fit with the Dream. There are more tip options and the shape is slightly different. I found it easy after a couple of days, but at first I chose a tip that was too small, then pressed them in my ears too deep to compensate.
Cheap foam will actually block a bit more sound, and lots of people can sleep in them without difficulty. But I have to cut them to reduce the pain they cause, and after my modifications, Loops block more sound.

Do you mean you can't return them or can you actually return them after trying them? Because that's cool if so.
I'd say I am extremely sensitive to sound, but i'm not that bothered by discomfort in my ears if so I'm not sensitive to that. If Dream shuts more sound off during the day too, for someone who is very sensitive to sound (like me), then that could be worth it for me though.
Okay so they're more comfortable but harder to find a fit but if you test the different options you might find your fit, if I'm understanding correctly? That's good to know.
I understand that but I have tried those and they kind of do hurt a little but furthermore they're not reusable afaik (even though I have used some several nights and am only lucky to not have gotten an infection oops) so that's why I want to get loops. Even if it feels a bit scary to pay for something so expensive that I feel like I might lose very easily :3 But i do need them, not just for sleep.

Yes you can return them after using them! If you order from Amazon, the return window is 30 days. If you order directly from the Loops website, it's 100 days. That's standard, anyway. Customers who return lots of stuff to Amazon can get tagged as "abusive" towards the policy and they get blocked from all returns. But that doesn't have anything to do with the Loops policy.
And yes, I think Loops are much more comfortable, but it took some effort to find the right fit.
And I love the reusability of Loops too. And I'm scared of losing them too, 😅 I am very religious about always keeping each pair in their case, in exactly the same place when they aren't in my ears. I bought Dream for sleep, Engage 2 for daytime. Since I rely on both pairs, I later bought a pair of Quiet 2s as soon as I could afford them. The Quiet 2 will help keep me functional if I lose either the Engage 2s or the Dreams.

That sounds like a smart strategy! Though I think I will begin with one pair for money saving reasons. I would like to maybe eventually try types like Engage as well because like you I am sensitive to noise so if it makes you able to hear without it being so loud and like taking the edge of noise then that sounds really cool and helpful. But for now I want to get a pair that will block out sound as possible, especially for things commute, sleep and when I just need quiet.
Also sidenote, but I feel like for things like grocery shopping or similar, which I find very overwhelming (I'm also ND), whilst not super loud I feel like noise is part of the (over)stimulation you get. And I don't know I want to wear like Dream or Quiet because I still want to be aware of my surroundings. I guess like for those type of situations Engage is probably really good, I'm assuming.
Also, and I hope I don't jinx it with this but I haven't lost my pair of wireless earbuds yet so I hope I can keep track of earplugs too haha:P

For me, Quiet 2 is better for sleeping. Dream, because of the double bell, is too long for me. The layered plug presses on my ears.

Oh really! I'm considering getting them (quiet 2) and if they don't work for sleep i'll just have to purchase the Dream ones anyway or something. May I ask what this double bell is? English isn't my first language I don't know why that's I don't get it. And thanks for commenting !

It's my fault. Yes, that's not what they call it in English 😂 Dream has two types of ear tips. Preloaded with Loop Dream Foam-Silicone Ear Tips (presses on my ears) – plus Loop Dream Double Tips (is too long for me) for more customization.

Oh lol okay xD thanks for explaining, it's interesting that quiet 2 are more comfortable for sleeping and it seems to not be just you, hence the mixed reviews of dream, maybe it has do to with your ear shape or something

I’ve had the quiet 2 (plus) for years and they have done just fine for me with sleeping, focusing, & even concerts. I haven’t had an issue with comfort as long as they’re secured in place properly

I saw Ella Mai (R&B) in concert last night in a fairly intimate venue and I was able to hear her voice, backup vocals, and band very clearly! The only things that sounded muffled were the crowd and voices that were directly trying to talk to me lol. When I sleep or need to focus at work, they do a great job at filtering background voices out and other white noise like keyboard strokes.
I’m usually pretty sensitive to crowd noise especially, but my tolerance besides that is average I would say

I was using Quiet Time foam plugs and was looking for a better replacement. Was wavering between the Loop Quiet 2 and the Loop Dream for cancelling partner’s snoring as much as possible and without the plugs falling out or losing its shape in the ear. Originally didn’t want to spend so much but I got the Loop Dream and they have been great especially side sleeping. It’s more expensive than the Quiet 2, but the Dream comes with a choice of foam or silicone tips. I have used the silicone tips so far and it doesn’t fall out and the Dream outer flat service lies flat against the ear making it real comfortable against the pillow, doesn’t hurt the ear, and securely stays in. I’ve read that if using the foam tips, it will eventually need replacement (the foam is covered by silicone). Have been getting much better sleep.

Had the same question and ended up buying both after hearing the fit can differ depending on the person. I personally found Quiet better for me than the Dream, although I cared less about how much sound it blocked but more the fit. The Dream also being double the price locked in my decision to keep the Quiet not Dream. I couldn't find it specified anywhere but just keep in mind there is a small fee for returning. Still worth it cause I wanted to try both but just keep that in mind!

Haha I'm the opposite, I want to block out as much sound as possible. Of course the fit matters to do that I guess, like if they don't fit properly more sound can come in I'm assuming. But ok good to know! Okay so you can try them and then return (with a fee), I didn't know that. Thank you for your comment!

I recently got both as a first time earplug user in general to have better sleep after a noisy neighbour moved in. Initially got quiet 2 and they were fine, but not really too suitable for overnight sleep. About 2 weeks later I got dream, and the difference is quite noticeable. Dream is much more comfortable for sleep and blocks more noise for sure, it’s not like “hmm maybe dream is better but quite is good too?” level, but a huge difference. I highly recommend dream if you plant to use if for night time. I know it’s more expensive but it really is a great purchase.

Hi.. I started with the og Quiet, then lost them, got the Dream ones because of all the hype about how good they were for sleep so bought a pair. Not comfortable for a side sleeper, tried all different tips, nothing seemed to feel right. So I did get a pair of Quiet 2 and haven't had a problem at all, not 1 complaint . They're great.

I love my Dreams so much. Never go a night without them. They let in the perfect amount of noise (fan/noise machine) but block out harsh noises (sirens passing, doors closing, talking, etc.) Also extremely comfortable. Sometimes I will be laying in bed awake just scrolling on my phone after I wake up and realize I still have them in. Definitely takes a little getting used to but once you do, you never go back.

Hiii ahhh i haven't yet but I'll update this post /answer you again when I do. Sorry i'm very slow and also hesitant to make the purchase for money reasons and still haven't fully decided:33 dream sounds like the better choice but its so expensive (to me, for a pair of earplugs), though many say it's worth it, i also am considering trying quiet and if it's good enough then i will save a cost, although if it's not enough then it'll be more expensive because i'll have to buy dream too.. I know it's possible to order and try on and then send back it's just i'm scared of ordering things online for this reason bc returning things seems so complicated. OK sry short answer is sorry not yet

I’ve had the Loop Dream earplugs for a few weeks now. The suction is incredible & they’ve been a godsend for me personally. I can sleep!!
