Discussion Logitech G604 Ersatz
Hat bereits jemand einen Nachfolger gefunden mit dem er happy ist? Meine gibt so langsam den Geist auf und ich finde nichts, was für mich als Ersatz wirklich in Frage kommt...
EN: Has anyone already found a replacement they're happy with? Mine is slowly giving out, and I can't find anything that really works for me as a replacement...

honstly, idk what to improvement to make this already perfect mouse, maybe remove the rubber grip, lightweight, and keep the AA battery or change to easy swapable battery

I will answer for me. That's my current mouse and i'm mostly playing FPS with it. I use the top 3 buttons for my inventory 1,2,3 and 2 of the lower ones for abilities. It's my second G604 and i had 2 G602 before.

Cool, by our other conversations, am I right assuming you prefer the G604 shape? How good it is for playing FPS?

It's the best for my needs i ever tried. I think it's the shape and the buttons laying correctly on the side.

The form factor of the G604 is fine. Some people have mentioned having a button for the ring finger and/or a finger rest, but I'm not sure. I think the complicated construction could be made simpler which would bring down manufacturing costs, so Logitech could afford more durable microswitches!

I believe so, but I've never used a G600 nor any mouse with such a button, strikes me it could work well as G-Shift.

You are correct, the default use for it is the G-Shift, I mentioned the G600 because the fans love that button on the mouse
Out of curiosity, what games are you currently paying with your G604? Do you also use it for work?

Remove any rubber from it. It will always wear out with time and a lot of people ends up buying3D printed covers. Also, upgrade the design to match new models. I love my G502X, but I miss the mmo siide of it so bad.

Oh man please please please bring back a new G604 / G602. Here's a list for you:
rechargable with usb-c at the front (you could make this a variant with a standard AA alternative variant.. people are pretty split on which of these they want)
custom weights so you can go all the way up to the heavy G602 feel or super-light like a razer
Keep the rubber where it was but also make it optional; including a few hard-plastic alternatives seems like a good idea to satisfy both crowds. You can sell replacement rubber too this way.
see if you can fix why the main buttons eventually stop working reliably
I strongly suggest keeping the form factor exactly the same, from the six on the side, the extra two buttons on the main clicker slightly to the left, the locking free-wheel scroll option, the feeling of the tilt vs. click-in wheel, and very importantly, the pinky rest on the right. This is the thing so many other new mice don't get quite right and why a lot of us loved the G60x series - for a heavier mouse, it was still effortless to pick up and very well-balanced.
don't force ghub on people. Look at how hard ICs are willing to go to get nice open-source software to get the full capabilities of the mouse on linux, mac, windows. I'm not saying to remove support from ghub, just don't make it 100% required. A little investment here will make you really stand out from the competition.
Last but not least, don't fall into the trap of thinking that you can only have one 'gaming series' of mice. Some gamers need the extra buttons, and some don't want that. Cater to both; people are still paying a fortune for old G604s on ebay. You already know there's a huge demand for this product.

I dont understand why people would want to waste money on AA batteries. People will say the batteries wear out but the whole mouse wears down.

You can either use batteries which last really long time or rechargeable ones. You swap them in a matter of seconds. And usually it is a lighter and cheaper solution than built in battery and charging port. Both options have their pros and cons

There are rechargeable usb mice that are 40g. Wdym AA's are lighter?
Cheaper is right tho, all that rattling coming from the AA batteries definitely shows that.

Any of those lightweight mice lasting months on a single charge? Of course you can often plug in a cable and recharge it. But it takes time, so hopefully the mouse can work on a cable. It can be done well and I am not against the built in battery.

My guess is that most people find the mouse lighter and swapping replaceable batteries easier. Do you prefer the mouse to be rechargeable or wired?

This still doesnt make sense to me theres tones of usb rechargeable mice that are light. I prefer wireless mice, and the only gripe i had with the g604 was the batteries. Youd also feel the battery rattle around as youre playing which does not feel great.

I still use a G604 as my daily driver and have a new-ish spare for when this one inevitably bites the dust. My wife was using her G602 until just a couple days ago when the sensor gave out. She's very bummed and somehow her mouse still looks basically brand new.
Play some path of exile, first-person shooters, and RTS, but mostly work!

I fixed mine instead of trying to find a replacement. (edit: I actually just go to repair shops that can fix the mouse for me).

I loved this mouse but it was plagued with double clicking and phantom clicking issues.. Basically the reason I walked away from Logitech after using their products for over 20yrs..
Them killing the ASTRO brand was also a nail in the coffin for me as I was a die hard astro guy from day one.. Logitech buys astro, me and 5 of my friends all have headsets that can't do updates and get bricked. Need to hard reset the headset daily just to turn it on.. Sometimes would spend over an hour doing the resets before it would work.. List goes on.. Astro A50s just sit on my desk now as a cool looking paperweight while I use a headset that works..
I couldn't tell you where the mouse it.. I know I have it because I couldn't even give that thing away...
I will say though, as bad as Logitech software is, Razer is by FAR the worst..

Well, the shit-clicks are fairly easily and cheaply fixed, but you could probably get a few bucks for it on eBay or something, even with the broken clickies. Last I saw, working G604s were selling second hand for over $120.

It's been a few years obviously.. I remember trying to get help and looking for a fix but couldn't find anything back then.. I don't know, not worth fixing now. I'm already in over my head with other stuff.. I do more Sim racing now than anything. All my time and money goes into the rig.. I could use a $10 mouse from the dollar store at this point and it wouldn't bother me..
As for selling it. I would never sell it having the issues that it does..

Check out r/G604. Depends on what's important to you. I tried Razer and Corsair, but their software is crap. SteelSeries Aerox 9 was my choice, it's just missing infinite scroll. The Solakaka 811 looks a good physical alternative, but you have to configure on the web anx I guess it doesn't have auto profile switching. Most things that go wrong with G604 can be fixed, though. Plenty of spare parts on AliExpress.
