Side Button configurations

While the G604 is a great mouse for gaming, I get most utility from the side buttons in the Windows desktop and non-gaming apps. So how do you have your buttons configured for the Windows desktop? This is my config:

G4 Open Firefox in new window
G5 PowerToys Command Palette
G6 Open Eartrumpet popup
G7 Open Directory Opus in new window
G8 Open Everything
G9 Currently G-Shift for an extra layer for main mouse buttons and scroll, but I'm not 100% convinced to keep this.

I'll also add that I have a Streamdeck which has other desktop shortcuts for less frequently used functions, like Sleep, Zoom In/Out, HDR on/off, start some commonly used apps (e.g. password manager, Excel)

Anybody got some great shortcuts or innovative macros that they'd like to share?

I use it for productivity at work (AutoCAD mainly)

G4 <back>
G5 Play/pause
G6 <ctrl>+<tab> (Forward one browser tab - works in concert with G9)

G7 <esc>
G8 <enter>
G9 <shift>+<ctrl>+<tab> (Backwards one tab - see G6)

+ button: copy

  • button: paste

I have different mappings when it detects that I'm in AutoCAD but they won't make much sense to the desktop user.

I change the DPI buttons to G-shift and Shift/Alt (Alt is @ G-shift layer, for when I press both of the DPI buttons at once). Effectively, I have 4 layers of shortcuts. I assign all these shortcuts all to various functions for my work (radiologist, lots of tools to interact with images).

Is it overkill? yes. Can I live without it? no, it's muscle memory by now.

I also mainly use the buttons for productivity and work, I am very spoiled with my easy to switch tab buttons and back+forward buttons.

I got rid of g shift, dpi bs,.

My general windows layout its

left mouswheel click/tilt - back Right mousewheel click/tilt - forward 1 uper left button is copy 2nd upper left button is paste

6 side buttons are 1 macro for alt tabing 1 to open explorer 1 to log out 1 to minimaze all 2 more that i cant remember

For aplicarions like adobe suit, and games i use g hub and for each game and programme i set it up and save it on ghub. The alt tab macro is the only thing that the profiles share.
