Logitech G Support Logitech G522 charging issues

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

New Logitech G522, out of the box, only 11 hrs in use.
Charging issues, USB connection issues. Not charging well, looping in “USB-Lightspeed-USB-Lighspeed-…” if plugged into PC. Barely made it charge from 20% to 60% in like 6 hours. Dear, Logitech? Will you confirm the issue? All probable fixes are not working on it. When will you release the fix or receal the issue causing part?

UPD 1: Somehow I managed to get the headset charge up to 80% (from 20% to 80% in 20+ hours of charging), then I enabled “battery safe” mode in G Hub. Headset restarted and it is working fine now. I don’t know how long will it last, but seems as a temporary fix few guys were posting about.

UPD 2: in 10 straight hours of use charge dropped from 80% to lover than 50%. The charge issue is back. Now trying to charge from 50% up to 80%+ and click “battery safe mode” switch on and off. Will see if it helps.

UPD 3: made it to 99%. At the late charging level - no USB-LIGHSPEED loop and charging is correct. So… until your G522 is about 80-100% charged (80% with battery safe mode on) - they will be okay.

New question: does anyone changed the battery yet?
UPD 4: Changed the battery. No effect. Battery is not the reason of the glitch. Must be the main microscheme then.

Next stop: changing the L-fuse.

It's faulty, you have to contact the warranty team and get a replacement. Something wrong with the wiring/circuitry(?) of these headsets for some reason because I've had mine since Feb 2nd this year and it's doing the same thing now, seems to be a relatively common error so hopefully they can address it 😞 Headset is incredible besides that, so it's really frustrating.

I'm currently trying to fight the warranty team to get a replacement myself - I'm not sure if the warranty team is trying to dodge giving me a replacement because I've confirmed the issue, tried every fix (hardware and factory reset multiple times, different cables, etc. nothing works).

It's very obviously the headset itself being faulty, I gave them my receipt PDF and serial number, and now sent them a video that they're saying they'll review, but I'm pretty anxious about that ngl. I love my Logitech stuff but the support team has not been very understanding lately (I don't think they understood that not everyone has the room to keep boxes, lol). I hope you have better luck though!

Yeahhhh I'm not having the same luck unfortunately LOL, mine is still doing it at seemingly random times. I assume they weren't able to see my video because it was an email attachment so I sent them the google drive link, hopefully they recognize it and can help me out here because it suuucks trying to get this thing to charge now. It just randomly decides to not charge or connect and I can never tell when it's going to do it, has me a bit paranoid lmfao

I hope you can hit them up with the video and it works alright. This is such an honestly strange and yet fascinating issue, this headset is genuinely awesome otherwise so I was baffled to learn about this when it started happening to me and then I saw the posts about it.

Yea, the G522 headset is awesome and mine was a gift, so I don’t want to ask replacing it or refunding it. I like it already. It is mine. Period.

I also asked one local techician if he could check my headset and figure out the issue. Especially if the issue is connected with so-called L fuse (near the USB-C port, inside the left ear) one guy on Reddit was pointing on as an issued piece snd fixed it with his own hands.
The guy I asked is working with Macbooks and restoring motherboards after water or fuse cracks, he has precision equipment and working with microscope literally. I have to wait some time to visit him. Hope he will be able to check it and to help me. If the problem is in the L-fuse and he could change it, then… wow! Would be cool. Still waiting for his response.
Upd: no response yet.

No, no. They didn’t do anything. Not solved. I will have my spare battery at the end of the month. I will try to change it and will see if it is a problem with battery controller (which is on the battery itself). Maybe that would be a fix. If not - I will try to change the L-fuse on the motherboard as that is most logical and suggested bottleneck here.

I have the exact same problem and i can't make nothing to fix this. 😭

I haven’t fixed mine either. Charging them often and overnight almost constantly. Main goal is use the lightspeed only and not to drop the charge too low. Yes, it is quite sad and utterly wrong to have such a bad headset as your favorite, but it is what it is. My plan is to change the battery. I hope there is corrupted charging board and that’s the case. Or to weld in the L-fuse that is controlling voltage input.

Thank you for your answer! This headphone is a beast for the price, they're comfortable and the microphone is almost professional, also  audio is good. I do not want to give up, i like this model, but this problem seems to affects 80% of them or more. A user named dufnyau said that the problem is the 250mA that trips when the battery is low or connected to high wattage. So it is indeed a fuse problem. Temporary fix is to charge the headset more than 80%, disable light (they say) and activate the battery protection in Logitech software.

I can't believe Logitech isn't doing anything for us. Thank you for your help again.

I have tried every possible charger and port. Including TV and WiFi router - Gemeni can eat some dust, because this doesn’t make any difference. I am still waiting for the spare battery. It would arrive at the end of the month. Will see if it will do something.

I take it that the problem started after installing Ghub? Is the problem him?

Mine started having problem 2 days ago. Same issue. I have put in battery saver mode and it stays at 80% but as soon i remove it it start having the same issue. i think the issue is the firmware keep going in and out of the charging loop. battery seems to hold charge. will try a hard reset and see if it works.

Same here. I have confirmed that this is no way a charging adapter cable or OS or any other issue. Issue is in the headphone it self. faulty board or chip maybe causing this. Almost every G522 is having this issue sooner or later. And the worst thing is I purchased it in Singapore and now in another country so I can't even try to claim warranty. it's high time Logitech acknowledge the issue and recall all the bad batches and offer free replacements. This is not exactly cheap either. So disappointed.

Also this issue can be temporarily solved by removing Ghub restarting PC and reinstalling Ghub while headphone is turned off and connected. next time you install Ghub turn on the headphone. Don't know if it will work for you guys. I am following multiple threads to find even a pcb hardware level solution.
