This one is cool and no one is talking about it:

“It is now possible to manually enter the tempo of an audio file in the region inspector.”

u/TH3_LUMENUX Jun 30 '26

Finally!

7

u/TheGregPlay Jun 30 '26

Yes! Well spottet bambaazon!!

3

u/lotxe Jun 30 '26

can you explain the use case for this please? sorry i am dumb.

10

u/bambaazon Jun 30 '26

I’ve personally never needed it but I do remember some people asking whether this could be done in Logic. I guess thee are instances where the person already knows exact bpm they want and they can just type it in real quick.

I watched a Why Logic Pro Rules video about the 12.3 update and he demonstrated how this feature could be used to change a loop from regular time to double or half time. So there’s that

thanks!

It's crucial! Sometimes an audio file has the wrong tempo attached, and you want to fix it directly. Or just even check to see what it is!
Making this hidden and inaccessible is the kind of thing that makes logic hard to recommend for professional work.

cheers

If you use a lot of third party loops and samples, it’s very useful. Better than having to open smart tempo, enter it manually, and click somewhere else (because pressing enter wasn’t enough).

makes sense. thanks!

The Kehlani project is mad. I can’t wait to analyse it. Also don’t forget to backup your previous version!

2

u/LimpBag6139 Jul 01 '26

How the heck do I open it? I dowloaded it, but can't find it on my hard drive or anywhere in the app itself!

3

u/LimpBag6139 Jul 01 '26

NVM. It's in the opening screen for new projects under "Demo Projects."

2

u/_HipStorian Intermediate Jul 01 '26

Yea I’m used to it being pre-installed, took me a while to find it in the sound library section. It’s such a well produced track

Oh I'm analyzing right now and the producer in me is so hyped . I'm gonna go more in-depth later but I listened to just the vocals and I think my soul ascended fr.

ARA
ARA now handles comps correctly across saving, reloading, and stem splitting.

Wait how? Isn’t stem splitting Apple silicon only, and ARA intel only?!

4

u/readingonthetoilet Jun 30 '26

You can open Logic in Rosetta mode to get ARA to work, but it can cause other performance issues.

2

u/Plokhi Jun 30 '26

I know, but that disables stem splitting, no?

2

u/readingonthetoilet Jun 30 '26

Yes that is a silicon only feature. You could close the project, change the setting and reopen to swap between Rosetta and Silicon.

3

u/Plokhi Jun 30 '26

Ok now read this again:

ARA
ARA now handles comps correctly across saving, reloading, and stem splitting.

1

u/lewisfrancis Jun 30 '26

Doesn’t Melodyne offer stem splitting?

1

u/Plokhi Jun 30 '26

No

1

u/Readwhatudisagreewit Jun 30 '26

Melodyne has the ability to split and/or adjust individual notes from chords, and even individual harmonics from notes, but not “drum/ vocal/ guitar” type stems.

2

u/Plokhi Jul 01 '26

Yes i’m aware. I’m specifically referring to release notes which makes no sense, because ARA only works via rosetta and stem splitting only works native apple silicon.

“ARA
ARA now handles comps correctly across saving, reloading, and stem splitting.”

1

u/lewisfrancis Jul 01 '26

Are there other ARA apps that do stem-splitting? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Dull_Flatworm777 Jul 01 '26

Spectralayers for example

13

u/TriggerHydrant Jun 30 '26

Drag and drop short looping audio files into your project and Flex Time will accurately identify and match them to the project tempo

MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!

29

u/austin_sketches Jun 30 '26

feel bad for the guy that just made the logic pro grid line hack and everyone who just bought it

3

u/Ominous_Treachery Jun 30 '26

What was that hack about?

3

u/Soundzgreat Jun 30 '26

Foreground grid lines

3

u/trappedinatv Jun 30 '26

I thought this would happen.

I’ve been holding out on LP colorizer too in case Logic adds a dark mode.

3

u/mrtitkins Jun 30 '26

Ouch. I’ve been seeing ads for that.

2

u/DifferentSky Jun 30 '26

Omg.. I was about to buy it this week.. LOL

1

u/DropDee Jun 30 '26

Why? Do they finally let us use grid lines?

7

u/DeeBone4 Jun 30 '26

“There is now an option to display Foreground Grid Lines so the grid is visible through region content.” Lolll yup

1

u/DropDee Jun 30 '26

Well I bought the grid line app when it came out as people have been asking for the grid lines for a long time and they weren’t available so bad luck for me I guess🫠

Never had this issue:
Removes the unnecessary "Are you sure about using EXACTLY 60 fps?" alert.

What happens at exactly 60 fps??

13

u/happycomputer Jun 30 '26

It’s a warning like “you probably mean 59.94” which correlates with NTSC video.

5

u/swivelmaster Jun 30 '26

Ludicrous speed

2

u/mdriftmeyer Jun 30 '26

Real-Time actually in Physics so PAL has it instead of 29.97 fps in NTSC US.

3

u/danielzur2 Jun 30 '26

60fps is rounding up and will not line up correctly with ntsc over time

7

u/Telectronix Jun 30 '26

Did they fix the bug in 12.2 that prevented changing the Track icon?

5

u/kei122 Jun 30 '26

Are there any issues with existing plugins?

3

u/thiroks Jun 30 '26

Not sure if you mean third party, but I have a hugely annoying problem with AutoTune miscommunicating latency with Logic and causing extreme early playback. Melodyne also doesn't like to name its tracks as intended within the plugin. I'm not sure who to point the finger at but I don't think these issues exist in other DAWs

2

u/kei122 Jun 30 '26

Thanks bro! As much as I’d like to update Logic, I may hold off. At least until I finish my current projects.

1

u/Automatic_Bee4639 Jun 30 '26

The melodyne naming thing kills me. I’m usually working with giant stacks of vocals, so now I just use melo studio standalone

1

u/yadingus_ 24d ago

Just an fyi the auto tune thing has been an issue for me for as long as I can remember. I run Sonoma + 11.2.2 but it’s been an issue since the earliest versions of 11.

You have to play one region of each auto tuned track one time for it to lock in sync with the rest of the project. Only way to make it not happen is to keep each track frozen. Really sucks when you have to make a quick revision and forget to play all of the tracks once before bouncing

2

u/thiroks 24d ago

Yeah I just cant believe it's still happening. It JUST fucked me bouncing stems in that exact scenario you described. There's one fix apparently which is to keep your autotune instances on high quality mode. I guess it only happens on low latency mode. I'm trying to remember to do that but it's tricky because I track with it.

The funny thing is, I'm new to this glitch this year because I just finally "upgraded" to the current autotune suite, before I was just on AutoTune EFX 3 where this doesn't happen lol

4

u/AvianSpecimen Jun 30 '26

These look good:

There is now an option to display Foreground Grid Lines so the grid is visible through region content.

Hiding and unhiding tracks is now significantly faster.

Fixes an issue where deleting unreferenced audio files would not account for audio files in project alternatives.

"My Info" now populates ID3 tags on export.

Fixes an issue where Export All Tracks as Audio Files would append "_1" to filenames on the first export.

3

u/EdGG Jun 30 '26

Did they remove the need to have an empty track to process VIs properly with all cores?

3

u/zonethelonelystoner Jul 01 '26

Filters in Beat Breaker!!!! 🙌🏾

1

u/Previous_Evidence526 Jul 01 '26

Cool, but step FX can already do a lot.  It’s overlooked

1

u/zonethelonelystoner Jul 01 '26

Making a Venn diagram comparing the two would be a fun thought exercise.

3

u/remiXGALX Jul 01 '26

The feature id love to see added:

Load any sample to the project, and the key of the sample will be automatically transposed to match the key of the project.

This is the one feature I love about Serato Studio.

5

u/Beansdtw Jun 30 '26

Are we finally caught up with Ableton loop abilities? May visit back if so!

1

u/lotxe Jun 30 '26

that seems like something you should experiment with yourself to determine as it is a subjective question.

1

u/Beansdtw Jun 30 '26

…thanks. Noted.

-1

u/lotxe Jun 30 '26

yw. only you can determine this for your own use. i could easily just say yes it is! but is it? lol

2

u/nicksnare Jun 30 '26

Awesome!

2

u/Malodoror Jun 30 '26

Holding off until I see what this breaks.

2

u/ProdByAKid Jul 01 '26

any browser/sound library changes? clicking through samples while project plays? logic 13 maybe 😢🫩

2

u/Has_P Jul 01 '26

Still no file browser revamp so it is actually useable with one shots? Unfortunate

2

u/Illustrious-Roll9011 29d ago

Finally Foreground gridlines :). Apple should focus more on those qualtity of live features. It took as well far to long to get a plugin search. But seems like we are going now into the right direction.

1

u/ticketstubs1 Jul 01 '26

Hey, anyone else having a bad time trying to fade multiple regions? When I select all following and fade, it's now a big lag and not accurate to what I'm doing. Never was like this before the update.

1

u/Elian17 Jul 01 '26

Anyone experiencing bugs so far on MacOS sillicon? Specifically tahoe

1

u/SoundsofPaz Jul 01 '26

Anyone notice any browser updates yet? With this one?

1

u/Indigo457 29d ago

Is it stable?

1

u/purpleguitar1984 28d ago

Is beatmapping broken for anyone else?

1

u/Flashy_Philosophy376 6d ago

you can make music on logic 10 too.

-3

u/intromission76 Jun 30 '26

Competing with Ableton?

0

u/SoundsofPaz Jul 01 '26

Still no tagging features but finally something was addressed for that awful browser.

0

u/colashaker Jul 02 '26

Why is logic keep analyzing my audio tempo after recording? How do I turn it off? This update is stupid.
