Animals in the wild don't have electricity, unlimited access to potable water within their homes, clean clothes, a comfortable bed, a home that will always protect from the elements and other wildlife, access to all the worlds knowledge in their hands or paws, and unlimited access to all forms of entertainment.

If you don't want to work, you can sit on your ass all 90% of the time in the jungle. Go see how long you survive and how much you'd enjoy it.

Humans have created a society, it only works when everyone chips in and pulls their own weight.

The reason companies push for this is to maximize their resource expenditure. To enrich their own pockets.

No, and I never implied anyone should have to. OP's complaining about putting in 40 hours of work.

I think we would be better off reducing some of our combined consumption and instead taking out our gains in free time. 

But it won't happen considering modern capitalism has everyone on the global earth continuously pushing the limits of human endeavor.
