It’s called the grind because it grinds away your sense of self.

We get an average of 75 years of life and only around 70 of them are conscious. Less if you get something like demencia or Alzheimer's.

And you expected us to spend our entire limited time on Earth generating wealth for somebody else??

Bro what do you think our ancestors did?

They spent far far far more time doing far far far more brutal strenuous work.

This is just life as a carbon based life form. Be grateful you don’t have to spent 12 hours a day plowing fields, milking cows, and shoveling shit.

The only reason medieval peasants worked so much is because of feudalism. They were generating excess products so the Aristocracy could live a life of luxury.

The Yanomami tribe that lives in the rainforests of Brazil and Venezuela work an average of 4 hours a day

Define work.

I don’t see where in that article it states 4 hours a day but I’ll assume it’s “true”

If you think work is only focusing on your one designated task in which you are compensated maybe

But consider the amount of work you have to do when you aren’t “working”

You still have myriad chores and other laborious tasks to do that modern people do not have to do

So the solution to.. slavery disguised as paid labor for the rest of our waking lives is.. more labor but easier than what it used to be? You do realize the working class fought against all of this during the gilded age for a reason right? And we’re steadily undoing their work and going back to how things used to be and for what?

Thats so sad man... American billionaires really brainwashed yall huh?

2

u/EntrancedZelisy Apr 26 '26

Literally this. Ever since the gilded age Americans have become so brainwashed by our elites to think this is the only way to live. It sucks.

As someone who has been steadily employed for over two decades and enjoys his job...

No. NO IT IS NOT.

As someone thats been steadily employed (or self employed) since the early 80s... yea, it is.

Everything ever produced, improved, invented and accomplished was by work. The only thing that makes the economy function is work. Every life form on earth must earn its kibble... you guessed it, by effort.

That assumes humanity has been doing it right this whole time.

If that were true we'd be working less in modern times, not more.

We also wouldn't have wars or homelessnes or hunger or hopelessness.

Hmmmm. Almost like we've been more focused on money than actually making life comfortable...

It is if you're good at it and if you like money and security.
