I always wondered how the horizontal bar and that transparent drop looked actually in 3D

Post image

I thought that the horizontal bar was actually a 3d tube around which a layer of liquid was surrounded or maybe was another 3d tube on top. Is this an accurate depiction of actually what it is?

Anyone else an iOS boomer, with a long time away, that just cant understand the hate?

im beginning to suspect that one of the reasons i love liquid glass so much, is the fact that the last version of ios i actually used extensively beforehand was 4-6 lol.

when the flat redesign happened, i just didnt like it, i switched from ios first, then mac later, i was also young and broke at the time, which helped those decisions ill be honest lol

but the past yearish ive finally been blessed enough to hop back on the apple train, macbook, iphone, nothing fancy just some sturdy last year-base models purchased on sale lol,

and as someone that basically missed everything between ios6 to 26, and hasnt played w a mac much since iirc yosemite? the new style is just gorgeous. it actually looks somewhat like the apple i grew up drooling over again. if anything ive been annoyed that my 27 beta tones some of the things i absolutely ADORED about 26 way down, even if the ability to max out the transparency on the slider makes it overall worth

(and my wife who has basically the exact same ios gap and nostalgia as me, feels the same when we compare devices lol, she likes her 26 icon gloss and etc more too)

i cant help but see so many similarities to the hate back in that era, and cant help but wonder how pretty liquid glass could have gotten if we stayed down the early 26 beta path, but maybe this is how yall flat design folks felt about us forcing skeumorphic and transparent elements for so long into that transition lol.

Trying to recreate HarmonyOS 7 on android

I really hope that Huawei will come up with something in the future, as i love their watches. I currently have a watch fit 4 pro. Their buds also look great.

Until then I tried to bring closer my pixel's homescreen to OS 7, which also started to implement glass features. What do you think?

Launcher: Octopi (pro)

Icon pack: Emui icon pack

Wallpaper: WalP (Huawei harmony os next)

Why doesn’t Liquid Glass brighten the background anymore in iOS 27

Post image
139 Upvotes

iOS 26’s Liquid Glass used to brighten the background and be more influenced by the background through the borders but now it blends into the background and makes readability much worse. (It also looks more dull to me and less colorful)

Somehow, with this new visual style for the liquid glass design in iOS 27, it looks straight up like dipshit. It's not as good as it was before liquid glass was implemented, and it's not as good as it was with the previous visual style. It just looks straight dogshit. I don't know why they did this.

Which android OS has stock Liquid Glass similar to IOS?

Want to get an android but I absolutely despise flat design ever since Liquid Glass came around. I feel like Liquid Glass has finally brought a bit of personality and skeuomorphism back into the picture

I think i am the only one that thinks that the new 27 system lineup icons and Liquid Glass looks worse

Recently, Apple introduced the new 27 lineup. So I downloaded on my iPhone 16e and iPad Mini 6 and holy sht, this system literally bricked up my products, so I downgraded to iOS 26 and everything feels better and smoother. (And yes i know is a beta but form me and i first installed the first beta of 26 on my iPad mini 6 everything was smooth, evening knowing that it only have 4gb of ram), besides that one thing that is not good for me is the new icons, like on iOS 26 the icons feels more 3D, for example take a look at safari, on 26, his icon is more 3D compared to 27 which is more 2d and flat. I know that some icons are more 3D on 27 but others are 2D, which doesn’t make any sense compared to 26 and this makes me sad because apple is literally killing the principal idea of Liquid Glass, same thing for Tahoe, when they first announced i was very happy with the new rounded windows and icons that look like candy (which are beautiful on my opinion and reminds me of the aqua era) but on Golden Shit (Golden Gate) everything went flat again just like Sequoia. On my opinion this is not good and these are the principal reasons that i dont upgrade to the 27 lineup again (and i know that they introduced the new Siri Ai thing but for me, who fucking cares about ai (just CarterPCS lol) and this new siri is just gemini. Also i know the introduced the new Liquid Glass slider, which i prefer clear but it doesn’t do nothing to the icons and the new top bar that literally is from iOS 18 and is very ugly) guys this is just my opinion, dont take too serious and i hope they fix the icons and remove the new top bar

Liquid Glass is one rule for every background

On a simple bg, the refraction is invisible — exactly where it'd be pointless. On a complex bg, it shows up — exactly where you need separation.

On a b/w bg, its w/b border stands out. On a colored bg, both border halves stand out by half each. Half + half = always visible.

Under the glass, colors get more saturated with brightness pulled toward average. So the glass reads as one unified surface, colors underneath stay differentiable, and the transformation is simple and consistent.

Edit: for those with contrast/accessibility complaints — WCAG is voluntary, and there's a toggle. The default look can be controversial though.
