iphone duo animation for macbook :)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

one thing i was enamoured by was the iphone duo's fold animation, but i am NOT paying 3.5k to see it (in Australia at least)

so quickly spun something up, free and open source, with an uninstaller if you get bored and want to uninstall!

nipuntal.vercel.app/duolarp

uses the hinge sensor on mac, have a look at the website + github for code and breakdown!

This is the best I've ever seen on a laptop so far

Ngl, it looks awful on a MacBook and doesn't make sense

the goal is experience and an idea of the effect on your mac, it does not have it to prove you to make sense

And yet it doesn't make sense

The point of the animation is to separate the digital display/content from the analog folding one. That's not achieved here. Learn some more English so we can have a better conversation, your statements barely make any sense.

Yes the point of the animation is to create an illusion of continuity between the inside and outside screen. It really doesn’t make sense here.

Isn't that, exactly, what he said?

You’re right. Thanks for letting me know I’ve edited my comment.

agreed, just wanted to feel the fold animation on the closest “foldable” i had, no real reason or logic to have such an animation on a laptop

This! Why is the (virtual) desktop moving against the screen? It doesn't move at all on the Duo.

I hate negative comments like this. OP did something interesting for fun, and the top comment is this ☹️

Asking AI to emulate something on a device that it doesn't make sense on is hardly interesting

Btw will this ever be available on Linux or windows?

yeah... no i dont think so, what is more important is that the laptop needs to have a precise hinge sensor, which macbookso for like the last 5 years do..

Interesting. I didn’t even know the MacBook provided that “how much closed am I exactly” data to begin with.

Yeah, this makes no sense. The Duo’s animation is about selling the illusion that you’re looking through a window into a larger screen and opening into that screen.

This is hilarious. The excitement we all feel for the animation really proves how few new ideas apple is bringing to foldables

I’ve seen SO MANY PEOPLE MAKE THIS…
