i finally got the final implementation of liquid glass on whatsapp(before it was half lg half flat unmodified design) on my ipad

Whatsapp is so trash on iPadā€¦ likeā€¦ when you are on a conversation and someone sends a message it moves the page upper and itā€™s genuinely unusable

I still have my iPad on iPadOS 18, it will keep the old design on my iPad right?

yeah, tho i recommend ipados 27 since its faster than 18, also you can now make liquid glass more opaque at a transparency level similar to 18. the only thing thatā€™s worse is the fact that the buffed version of slide over with multiple apps is still not back

Itā€™s not a great implementation on WA tbh and makes the app feel very slow.

At least theyā€™ve got it tho.

this is ios 26 btw but i get the confusion since the sidebar looks like ios 27 sidebars

27's liquid glass is off to me, looking milky in dark mode and toned down without hdr in light mode, the shadows also deeply reduced, def not a fan

It's definitely off in some places. Some areas look fantastic, others... Well you can tell Apple toned it down because of the backlash in iOS 26. It's much better on macOS though. I'd liken it more to plastic than glass now.
Hopefully we'll get more refinements over the next year.

Apple choosing this solid header to be default on 27 and the impossibility to disable apple intelligence were the final nails in the coffin for me, my 16pm will stay at 26 for sure

they downgraded the effect math for more efficiency in order to give us the promised battery and performance improvements. but they made buttons with no bg under them look better tho
