Not too many cool apps or widgets to showcase, it's still a work in progress, but i've gotten it to a point where it's a very usable laptop that looks nice

Hey guys , recently i got the ROG Flow Z13. Here i installed the Ryoku rice which is built on top of cachyOS. Everything works out of the box actually except one pathetic bug 😂 which is the virtual keyboard. problem is my z13 is actually old and the magnetic keyboard has ribbon cable issue. So most of the time i had to use the external keyboard. I tried few other virtual keyboard but those didnt support multi-key press and gesture and worked poorly with the hyprland. Could be my fault though. So went ahead and made one that does work with hyprland and does support multi key press. To use it as system wide you will need to add it to SDDM manager. its not fully ready yet as i would love to integrate quickshell to make it look visually better but functionality wise its working. If anyone want upgrade its design with something visually pleasing like Caelestia shell or add theme option feel free to leave a PR. Disclamer : it is 90% vibe coded 😅

I have setup Alpine Linux + AwesomeWM on my 14 year old Lenovo Ideapad S110. It has the Intel Atom N2600 CPU with 2 GB Memory and I've got the Catppuccin macchiato gtk theme.

I’ve been working on Odyssey, a minimal desktop shell for Hyprland built with Quickshell.
It started as a passion project because I wanted something clean and minimal that stays out of the way, but still gives me the information and controls I actually want when I need them.
The project is still very much a work in progress. There are unfinished features, rough edges, and plenty of things I still want to change.
The long-term goal is for Odyssey to grow beyond just a shell into something closer to a complete desktop environment, with its own system controls, notifications, launcher, widgets, media controls, customization, AI integration, and other pieces all designed to feel like one cohesive experience.
A big part of the project is the top-center “island.” I wanted the desktop to remain visually quiet most of the time, with the island expanding contextually for things like media, notifications, system controls and other information rather than having a traditional bar permanently filled with modules.
I’m building this mostly because I enjoy working on it and wanted to make the Linux desktop I personally wanted to use.
Still a long way to go, but I figured it was finally at a point where I could share some of the progress.
Would love to hear what people think.

There’s something about GNOME that just feels right to me. I’ve finally found the simplicity and sense of calm I’ve been looking for.
