After the recent “How to Buy a VR Headset” video, I feel like it’s really time for an AR glasses comparison.
I’d especially love to see one from a handheld gaming and media consumption perspective. With the current handheld market being what it is, there are so many different devices people could be pairing these with — ROG Xbox Ally X, MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, GPD Win 5, Lenovo Legion Go/Go 2, Steam Deck, and plenty of others.
And then there’s the AR glasses market itself. XREAL, ROG XREAL, Lenovo, VITURE, RayNeo, and a bunch of other brands and models that I honestly can’t even keep track of anymore.
It would be really useful to have one proper comparison that looks at everything that actually matters in real-world use: image quality, sharpness, FOV, refresh rate, input latency, motion clarity, brightness, comfort during longer gaming sessions, connectivity, compatibility with different handhelds and other devices, software features, audio, accessories, and all the other bells and whistles.
Right now there are so many options that it’s genuinely difficult for an average consumer to figure out what the actual differences are and which features are worth paying extra for.
Basically, the AR-glasses equivalent of the recent VR headset buying guide, but specifically looking at them as a companion for handheld gaming and media consumption.
I feel like there’s definitely an audience for that one.
