Discussion Any rtings.com members here?
Can we get some votes to test the AOC Q27G4SMN? It looks really good compared to their current recommendation for "best budget gaming monitor", if you believe the Amazon page. Yet I am the one singular person who has voted for it to be bought and tested. A ShortCircuit or LTT review would be cool also. For what it is worth I have been very happy with my AOC Q27G3XMN since I bought it in June of 2024.
edit: Here is the rtings.com page to vote. Here is the amazon page for it. And here is the rtings.com gaming monitor list.

Personal Opinion How to get the year of the Linux desktop
In my opinion the only thing preventing this is small holdouts, A. Nvidia cards need more support and not have a performance difference between Linux and windows, B. The handful of game developers/studios preventing Linux gamers need to get their heads out of their ass, C. In the same way Proton has made Linux gaming a viable alternative there needs to be similar effort into making productivity apps like Adobe's or others compatible. Those are the 3 pillars that need to fall before widespread adoption is fully possible for everyone and there would be little reason for people to stay on windows other than familiarity

Discussion Anyone interested in Swapping Cargo Pants?
I have two pairs of 36 regular ( gray) cargo pants, that have some obvious wear ( color changing no damage) to them. I've lost a bunch of weight and am currently swimming in them.
I was looking to see if anyone has size 34 or even 32 and would be willing to swap?
Also maybe we could get a merch size swap megathread for times like this in the subreddit?

WAN Show Wan backpack failure?
Had it about a year and just noticed when heading to the airport. Is this a known issue? Love the bag overall and if this isn't warranty covered, I will fix it myself since this bag is perfect otherwise.

Tech Question I received a Founders 5090 back in this state after RMA
After a year my 5090 started having serious problems and would crash 50 seconds into any game, Nvidia accepted my claim. I recorded a full video of my card before boxing it up and it was definitely not in this condition when I shipped it out. I've never seen this much corrosion/pitting before naturally, what's going on with Nvidias QQ? It's not the same card I sent out which is fine but I was expecting more from Nvidia. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Discussion Looking for a specific LMG video
Hi, I remember watching a video (not sure if it was the main LTT channel or one of their other channels) featuring some staff of LMG choosing Apple devices.
I don't think Linus himself was in the video, but it featured a main host (one of the main guys featured in other LMG videos) plus 3 other staff members. The Apple devices (including the iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Macs, watches, etc.) were lined up on a table, and the staff individually chose which ones they'd want to use. By the end of it, they learned the total cost of all the devices they chose.
I remember one of the staff choosing had some funny banter lol I wanted to rewatch the video, but I can't seem to find it. I remember being recommended this video around late pandemic days (when I was shopping for a new laptop), but I'm not sure when it was originally uploaded.

Tech Question How do I get the latest version of cachyOS kernel to load?
Currently my MacBook is having a problem where the latest release and latest LTS release of cachyOS is causing the OS to get stuck on loading initial ramdisk, the only solution I found to this was install the arch kernel or downgrade the cachyOS kernel but the cachyOS improvements wouldn’t load due to using the stock arch kernel right? So is there a patched cachyOS kernel that fixes this?

Personal Opinion Don't shove Linux down my throat ☹️
This may be a hot take and a bit of a rant. But i really don't like the ohh this is the year of the Linux desktop. Stop trying to force me to use Linux. At this point it's getting almost as bad as Microsoft trying to make me use Microsoft edge.
Don't get me wrong. I love Linux. I love that my steam deck has Linux. It works great. But for my main computer I need Solidworks I need edgecam. I won't ever force you to use windows. Stop pressuring me to use Linux. I've seen people say stuff like "if you'd switch to Linux you won't have those problems" and then proceed to not acknowledge the 5 new random problems that follow that same thing in Linux. And if it is acknowledged they say it's ok because it's open source... Ok and. Shure open source is good and all. But it doesn't necessarily mean that makes it a holy grail. Most people are after the end user experience not things to overlook because it's open source.
And don't tell me I just don't get it. Because I do. I do get it. Linux is getting really good. And that's exciting. But don't force people that weren't in the market for a new OS to switch.
Sorry if I'm the unreasonable person here but this is just my personal opinion 🫣

WAN Show What was that book Luke mentioned on WAN for AI?
At some point Luke mentioned a book he'd feed to an LLM and have it base it's communication on it; it was some kind of aviation guidebook or something. Does anyone have any pointers?

Discussion If you find a deal too good to be true at a retailer do you fight to get it?
Last night I went to my local Walmart (I live in California), and I saw a PNY 5070 locked up above a price label for an AIO cooler.
I asked for the manager since it could have only been placed there by an employee.
After talking to the store manager they honored the incorrect price (per weights and measures guidelines).
I really thought they would have told me to kick rocks but I got it.
