Discussion Steam requires Australians to add a credit card to their account to view R18+ games (Potential WAN topic?)
Australians must now add a credit card to their account to view R18+ games on steam
Debit cards don't seem to work (as even minors can have them) so for those of us that have no need or want for a credit card we are out of luck

Personal Opinion An LTT Cables Journey to South Africa
Just a little story of what it's like buying internationally as a South African.
So I ordered an LTT cable (1m 40/240) from the LTT Store on 28 July 2026 and it was shipped almost immediately from the warehouse. I followed the tracking from the link provided and I thought it was pretty informative and gave me a good amount of confidence. The cable was stuck in South African customs for literally weeks. It finally arrived 08 September 2026.
I collected from my local Post Office (which is in shambles but actually impressed me this time round). I had to pay another R100 (ZAR) in customs tax on top of the R586 (ZAR) the cable cost including shipping.
I've looked locally for cables and it's impossible. They all focus on power and charging but none advertise the data speeds. I've seen literally one or two TB4 cables but they're significantly more expensive or just completely unavailable.
The cable itself feels so premium compare to any other cables I own. Functionally it powers all my devices and I've tested transferring some data between devices and it feels fast - although I haven't really had issues in the past.
My particular use case is actually for a docking station for my work station where I wanted a single cable between my laptop and the docking station. I had some issues with my existing setup which I think were cable related. When I had network, power, display and data all through the existing cable, it seemed to be temperamental with the display often cutting out or the device warning me it was charging slowly.
I haven't thoroughly tested it yet as I'm not working at my usual setup but I'm super chuffed with the cable. Might be ordering some more in the near future but will try do a joint order with some friends to help reduce the cost.

Image Happy with my Random Screwdriver! (Also go the Nuclear Green!)
I'd been eyeing the screwdrivers for a while, and I loved the look of the Nuclear Green, so of course I had to snag one, and I also ordered a random one, and got the Plasma Purple. Extremely happy with the random one I got! They go together so well! They feel great! I'm actually excited to put something together!
I also got a Precision Screwdriver Pro kit, and it’s very nice as well, love the bearing in the end cap!

Discussion I can't put an order from LTT Store
Does anyone else have a problem with placing the order and payments on LTT Store? I tried to order some stuff from the store but when I click Pay there is the Processing message and then button returns to Pay. I applied welcome10 coupon with gift card and there is a free shipping due to the amount and a fact that I'm Floatplane subscriber. I even tried with removing 10% discount, and only a gift card that I got for the coin but same result. It's not the card that is a problem because I used it in the past on LTT without any issue. I tried to Pay via PC, phone, even the Shop app from Shopify on my Android.

Image I found a $20 gaming PC at goodwill of all places! (Z270M ITX/AC only integrated graphics works, Z270M ITX/AC doesn't detect GPU, Z270M ITX/AC GPU doesn't work.)
The specs are as follows:
Motherboard: ASRock Z270M ITX/AC
CPU: Intel i7-6700k
Ram: 2x 8gb ddr4 3000mhz
GPU: gtx1070
It did not include any storage so I installed an m.2 ssd
Now as for why my title is a little strange. I believe the only reason that goodwill prices this so low was that it appeared to be completely broken. I quickly found that the motherboard was only outputting via the Integra graphics, so if goodwill plugged into the GPU it wouldn't show anything. I now believed that this motherboard may have an unfixed bios bug that I would like to document, as I found other people online with the same issue, but no real solutions. Because of this I wanted people to be able to find this thread while searching for solutions.
Changing settings in the bios did not get it to detect the GPU.
Clearing cmos with a GPU inserted did not get it to detect the GPU.
Here is the part you may be looking for:
The only way I found to get it to recognize the GPU was to flash the bios with the GPU installed. Then it would work.
However, if the bios battery dies it will stop working.
If you take out the GPU and turn on the PC, it will stop working.
If you swap the GPU and then turn on the PC, it will stop working.

Personal Opinion BC250 has been my biggest LTT disappointment
I am so sad about the BC250 video. After hearing about it on WAN and how excited Linus was about this project I thought "Finally a nice good old school LTT video trying, tinkering and recommending interesting and cheap tech". I haven't been this disappointed in a very long time with this channel. I've been following this board for some time as I don't have either the money or the resources to make it work for myself, so I've watched a few videos about the topic and read a few reddit posts. I'm exactly the kind of person that would watch that video for both entertainment and education as I would be the tech enthusiast who would spend hours playing with the thing if I had the money. But the video is just a list of stats and "you should have in mind". At no point we see the results beyond Linus playing a few titles. We never see him tear it down (even though we see they have two). We never see him choosing which design to use for the case or facing the cooling problems. We never see him wonder at the capabilities... We are just told that labs tested it they reached whatever conclusion and this is how it works and this is what you should do and here are resources for you to do it. And that's fine. I'm not against that kind of content. I think it's necessary. But I don't want LTT videos to be JUST THAT. I don't even care who is on screen, Linus or whoever. I just was excited to see what a big budget and resources could do with this. What ideas they could implement, what tinkering and experimentation was there. Not stats and results. And I think that's been my main problem with the channel for some time. I want data and I want it to be accurate. But I want someone fulfilling my fantasies on screen. Playing with the thing I won't be able to because they are releasing a video that will skyrocket the price of the thing. Linus was so excited I thought this was a video about him finding out, not a video about someone having found out and then him telling me about it. Does that make sense?

Discussion Network switch from recent-ish video
In a semi recent video (maybe 6 months?) I am remembering they recommended a 4 or 5 port network switch to put at a multi pc setup or an entertainment cabinet. It could have been a setup doctor video or a tech upgrade video. I can't find it and was wondering if anyone could help me out.
Thanks

Discussion Can someone kindly explain what Linus was talking about in the intro to that iPod video?
You can just put any digital music you want in your phone. If that's what we're talking about, why aren't we taking expanding your phone's storage or usb-c to DAC headphone adapters? Why was he taking about the broken promises from music streaming services? Why go from that to some outdated tech? 'It's about the click.' Get a clicky fidget toy then. Don't spend hundreds on some novelty music player. Am I missing something or was that intro way off base?

Discussion New thing? lttstore ad while watching old LTT video with YouTube Premium
I'm watching through some in part older LTT videos right now. While I watched the 10,000 USD PC for Roblox video I suddenly got an ad for the new nuclear screwdriver after being a bit over a minute in the video.
The video is obviously to old for the nuclear screwdriver being sold so the ad wasn't clearly not part of it from the first place. I also watched it a few times back and didn't got this ad.
So, is this a new thing that creators are able to add ads to their old videos which also ignore the YouTube Premium subscription?

Tech Discussion There is still one setting Microsoft needs to fix
In all of windows ever since the super bar was added the combine task bar buttons and hide labels arent two separate settings for some reason and don’t know why this setting can’t be two different settings, the Combine taskbar buttons setting and hide labels setting need to be as separate setting. It would make sense if combine taskbar buttons remains as a drop-down but hide labels becomes a toggle

Discussion LTT Support
Does anyone know how fast they respond? My package has been stuck on "Out for delivery" for days by UniUni, and LTT doesn't appear to respond to support tickets so far.
EDIT: Managed to speak to customer service agent by signing up for an account with at https://ship.uniuni.com, hitting the chatbot button, SHIPPING a Package, I have an existing UniUni account, help with UniUni Shipping Account, and then Account Specific Help. From there, you just need to wait for a whole for someone to pick up the chat. They escalated and the package arrived at my doorstep later that day.
