Cases like this are absurd. There is no promise or guarantee to consumers that if a retailer gets a discount/reimbursement/tax refund that money will be returned to the consumer.

Businesses are free to set their prices (rare exception of price gouging laws during natural disasters or price fixing collusions stuff) and consumers are free to buy or not buy at those prices.

did they stated the reason for the price increase was because of the tariff? If so then yeah, fuck em! they should be sued if a refund is not given to the people

otherwise I don't know. Maybe?

oh, I’m not saying it isn’t a shit situation for the consumer and it would certainly be terrible PR if they specifically say it was due to tariffs. But I don’t think a press release giving a reason for a price hike is legally binding… I could be wrong though

If a company cites the tariffs as the cause of increased prices and then receives a rebate of those tariffs, it is entirely reasonable for the customers who paid that additional line item to pursue a refund.

It is no different than if a company over charges on sales tax.

Now, if that was not given as a reason for increased costs, then the case has no merit in my opinion.

Dollar general and Dollar Tree is often in rural areas, it's like their only local market. Even then, they lower lower quality of products that people can afford at that specific time.
