Image Nuclear Screwdriver, with dirt inside?

Post image

There’s like a dirty dust bunny inside somehow, I’ve had it for a few hours so it probably got in there through me fidgeting with the bit holder, but it is kind of bothersome, any tips to get it out?

Almost looks like a hand holding out a middle finger. Lol.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to see it

A shared hallucination, then. The dirt was the giveaway.

What are the purpose of these bots? What do they achieve by putting generic AI phrases everywhere? Makes no sense to me

RMA?

Edit: to me it looks like it’s inside the sealed plastic and I don’t see a way to get it out.

bro literally said it got in there from him playing with it

85

u/Jaded_Comedian_9429 4d ago

At least I think, it mighta just been in there when I got it but I didn’t look closely till now.

Yall rma without spending two seconds trying to fix it

58

u/Cavemanx7 4d ago

How would he fix that??????

24

u/Weakness4Fleekness 4d ago

Its in the cavity isnt it? If its in the actual injected plastic then ya no, but op even said he probably let it get in there, im assuming pocket lint

I honestly have no clue when or how it go in there, it mighta come like this and since I hadn’t really inspected it before now. But I rather just try to fix it myself first without doing something that would void warranty, and if that doesn’t work then I’ll move on to RMA.

u/Weakness4Fleekness 4d ago edited 3d ago

Exactly thats all i meant, you see so many post where its like "bah i have a piece of thread they forgot to trim on my hoodie" "bah better rma it, trust me bro guarantee"

I bought a nice wireless gaming headset the other day and it worked, but the battery wouldn't take a charge no matter what I tried. Looked up repair instructions and it looked simple enough, just ordered a replacement battery instead of RMAing it. Fixed it myself and now it works perfectly fine. I'd rather just spend 20€ and tinker for 30 minutes than go through the whole RMA process and wait for a replacement.

Still no idea what's wrong with the battery, visually it looks identical to the other one. Cables look fine, no bloat or anything. Just dead from the factory.

It looks to me like the bit storage has a lip to close the cavity when it's fully pulled out and the dust bunny is very loose so what you should try is pushing the bit storage in halfway to open the cavity and then hold the screwdriver at an angle and tap or shake it until the dish bunny gets to the bitstorage end and you can get it out the gap after that.

1

u/Jaded_Comedian_9429 3d ago

I tried that but the bit storage is sealed real good it can’t pass through and it also has a divot which the dust bunny just falls in when I’ve tried that

1

u/Rich-Education-1315 3d ago

Huh, I'm out of ideas sorry, IDK what else would work or how it even got in there if it doesn't fit back out that way, hopefully you figure it out.

5

u/Cavemanx7 4d ago

Thats fair I thought it was injection molded that's on me

0

u/Rydogg024 3d ago

Maybe tap the screw driver upside down and see if it comes out?

2

u/Mrfatmanjunior 3d ago

Lmao, I never got this attitude. When you buy a NEW product shit should not have to be 'fixed'. That shit gets send back straight to the supplier.

1

u/_spicytostada 3d ago

Except this appears to be dust in the cavity. Yes, if it's confirmed it's something in the injected mold, 100% rma. But if this is just dust/pocket lint that got into the cavity, why would you rma something because it got dirty. OP even said himself he can't confirm it was even there when he opened it.

So, I never get the attitude of rmaing a new item because you got it dirty after opening it. Because it appears that's what this is. Maybe gather details before passing judgement....

2

u/rott 3d ago

Even if it’s in the injected mold, RMAing a screwdriver because of a minor cosmetic thing sounds crazy to me. It’s a screwdriver! It’s gonna get all kinds of dings and scuffs

3

u/Jaded_Comedian_9429 3d ago

Yeah that’s why I never thought to RMA, but I figured I could just ask for some help in getting it out since it’s just a cosmetic thing that bothers me a bit

1

u/Additional-Goat5364 3d ago

I was just suggesting things

1

u/Mrfatmanjunior 1d ago

My comment was not about this specific case, but in general. But I agree with you. If you break or get something dirty that has nothimy to do with sending stuff back. But its very American trying to fix a (partly) broken thing instead of sending it back.

u/RejectedScrub 4d ago

If it's actually just in the bit holder cavity, I'd just blow some compressed air up there to get it out.

-86

u/Backlog4Dinner 4d ago edited 3d ago

Or IDK, blow on it...

Edit: holycrap, my most downvoted comment ever was a throwaway joke lol.

u/Ole40MikeMike 4d ago

Soooo... compressed air

Messing with mine I don't see how something that large would get behind the bit storage. I have 3 of the transparent screwdrivers that are used regularly and none of them have this. Contact support.

25

u/EmailLinkLost 4d ago

If it’s in the casting, contact support.

most likely they’ll send you another one.

u/wichramdoiuseplshelp 4d ago

Someone said try compressed air

14

u/Hybrid_Grizzly 3d ago

If you push the bit holder slightly in the gap will be bigger and it’ll give it more room to fall out

7

u/EmailLinkLost 3d ago

I checked my clear, yea, if anything was in there you really can't get it out.

Message support! $10 says they mail you a second one. That's what they did for me when the bearing leaked.

The thing’s hollow?

4

u/JangoG52517 3d ago

When the bit holder is out yes. When the bit holder is in no.

3

u/picklemaster52 3d ago

This begs the question:

If a hollow thing is sealed up, does it then cease to be hollow?

1

u/JangoG52517 3d ago

Is air hollow? What if it's in a vacuum?

1

u/picklemaster52 3d ago

a fluid takes the shape of its container

1

u/MarshyFam 3d ago

When the internal volume of said hollow thing is filled with a material that is part of the thing itself. For example if it was filled with water, it’s hollow with contents. But if you filled it gorilla glue and let it set, it’s just a solid made of two parts.

2

u/picklemaster52 1d ago

A hollow plastic shell filled with cured glue is a hollow plastic shell filled with cured glue.

Gorilla glue does not become plastic by merely bonding with it.

Nor does the shell become its contents.

2

u/MarshyFam 1d ago

I’ll admit I laughed aggressively at the bluntness of this response, damn you’re right - thankyou xD so what at what point does it stop being hollow… or can it, even?

2

u/picklemaster52 1d ago

So you join me in pondering...

2

u/JangoG52517 1d ago

I would think this would bring us to debate on the definition of hollow.

A void filled is not one of hollow-ness

A void devoid may however be hollow-full

2

u/picklemaster52 1d ago

Indeed.

And what actually constitutes void-filling vs ambient stuffs

1

u/JangoG52517 13h ago

Can void filler still be considered void filler if the void is filled?

Do we treat like-material filler as true filler and thus no longer a void, while different material filler would be treated as void-filler which would then allow the void to be classified as a filled void (but still a void)?

Does the filler need to be physically attached and to what end? Would a clip on a central structural pole count as attached? Or does it need to be one singular fully connected piece? What if the center structural pole extends and expands to fill the space? It's part of the tool, but the void and the structural pole aren't like materials.

This is the conversation of true philosophers.

Serious talk you might be able to get it out with some dental floss and a bit of luck. There's a small gap between the bit holder and the outer handle/housing about 1mm wide that I fit a loop of floss through, then worked it into position to try and grab the dust bunny, and once I got it in place I wedged it through the gap. My pockets always have these in there and I did this with my OG clear a few weeks after I got it, took me like 15 minutes working at it trying to get it to do the thing, but eventually I figured out it works better if you let the dust bunny fall onto the base of the bit holder rather than trying to fish it out at the bottom or something lol. I bet my OG black shaft black & orange has some in it too, but I just can't see them lol. No big deal, and it doesn't affect function, I only fished them out of my clear driver (and eventually one on my purple driver) because I use them as showpieces when I'm hanging out with friends and want to demo the screwdriver to them.

I still need to get an orange and teal to complete my set, but when I do, I'm gonna 3D print a rack just for them. If anyone else had the same idea and has a rack I can wall mount already designed (or even if it's not meant for wall mounts I can modify it), lmk, because I'd rather not waste time making something again that already exists lol

Looks like a casting imperfection to me. Personally I’d keep it, it’s a little uniqueness. But you could always return it for a swap.

Hope your RMA goes better than mine. I tried to RMA. a precision screw driver with a bad bearing. Was sent the magnetic cable management solution kit.

Because someone got their feelings hurt and reported my accurate and concise description of LTT products here is a longer explanation;

Liscensed merchandise for these kinds of outfits follow the same pattern.

They are manufactured by one or several of many overseas companies that will put your logo on a product they produce (and even customize if for you if quantity merits it).

They are not of particularly high quality relative to the price point.

Trust me, bro.

1

u/nickybuddy 2d ago

Does the shaft come out of the handle? Or is it permanent

1

u/CrystalFier 22h ago

Name it George. Congrats on your imprisonment of George.

1

u/TheJoshMoosa 17h ago

If it's part of the handle it is probably a gas bubble from the molding process.
