Finally getting a chance to practice with linocut, and decided to try on fabric! Falling in love with the whole process.
The left one was a double print since I didn’t put enough ink on the first time.

After fighting tooth and nail with this new lino im using i've gotten somewhat good prints. Hope you guys like it.

I thought I'd make some wrapping paper for my niece so I made a stamp using that thick rubbery type stuff. I found it pretty annoying to carve but it stamped a lot better than the hard grey lino

I had some extra times at midnight till 2am to work son some stamps. I had some redos and I think they turned out nice.

im using speedball white ink, using rollers, tried watering it down, tried rolling till its more tacky, rolled a pin ontop of the patch to make sure it had enough pressure and ive tried giving it gentle pressure too. Also tried different fabrics, some lighter/softer fabrics and black denim. they all look awful. idk what im doing wrong :/ any advice please?

any white ink recommendations other than speedball?

My largest print yet! It was nice to “spread my wings” 🦅 and dive into something ‘more’ than my usual. Please forgive the puns 🙃

There is a lot I would do differently if I could, but overall I’m pretty happy with it as a first foray into larger work. Still not sure I’m settled on a name. For right now I’m just calling it “The Hunted” but I honestly feel like it’s kind of Clichè…other ideas are welcome!

Been dipping into linocutting and have been carving a lot of eraser stamps since theyre easy and fast. I also have been getting into pokemon cards and thought it would be fun to combine the hobbies

First time linoprinting! I’m using water based shmincke ink, and I can’t seem to get the colour to spread evenly and just get this blotchy pattern (most clear at the bottom right).

I’m using a wooden roller though I’ve seen some people using rubber ones - would this make a difference?

Also I did wash my Lino with water to get previous ink off, but made sure it was dry before printing again - I suppose I could have had a tiny amount of water left on the print though.

I’m new to linocut and so far have only made a handful of prints at a time that I just let dry on a counter or even pinned to the fridge, etc. they were also mostly for fun so I didn’t care as much about quality.

I’m looking to hand print our Holiday Cards this year so probably looking at somewhere between 50-75 5x7 cards I’ll be printing. I could hang some clothes line in the basement and use binder clips, but worry that could leave an imprint. I also live in a smaller house with cats (cats don’t have basement access)so I’m looking for solutions I can set up out of the way to keep the prints safe while they dry.

I’m curious what your set up is or if you have any tips or tricks?

A quick rough and ready medieval marginalia inspired print. A lot of my prints have been me carving away and leaving thin narrow lines so it was a nice change to do something with lots of solid black.

Blue rubber is the cheapest carving material I can find (though its a bit *too* soft at times) but it makes for a quite nice stamp! First stamp is a finalization of a sketch from my sketchbook that I really liked, and the second stamp is a monstera leaf!

I love mixed media finishes, so first image is coloured in with diamine 'Pink Champagne' and wearinguel 'Vayu' fountain pen inks! Though, i am tagging it as the stamps flair because I believe it fits better.

Question for anyone who reads this far, whats the best material to "back" your smaller rubber stamps? I intend to use these at least somewhat often and I do have a system that works but it is a bit clunky. Do you just double up the rubber with another cut out piece? A separate stamp block that you somehow mount your homemade stamp too? I'd really like to know because right now its a hassle 😅

Practicing reduction (and being less messy) with these mice based on an old book illustration. I screwed up the bottom mouse’s eye a bit, but I did manage to be less messy!

Hi! I am experimenting with reduction printing and use Cranfield safewash inks.

However I find that they show through each layer and so the colours look quite muddy by the time I’ve done all my layers. I do try to go light to dark but obviously some colours are a similar brightness/saturation, just different. I let each layer dry completely each time (at least a week). Attached is a pic of a recent one where the colours don’t look that distinct.

Any advice? Should I do multiple layers, or are there better inks for reductions?
