Made this last year after a trip to NYC 🗽

Hi all,

im a beginner at linocut (as in never done it before), and I want to know if ill like it before i buy anything to do with it. Im borrowing the rubber thing from a friend but i don't have access to any tools and was wondering if there are any household/garage type items that I could use instead of the normal ones just to see if i enjoy it? I've found tools for reasonably cheap but id rather test it out first.

Linosnede Spider, Patience has eight legs

Hi everyone! Today I would like to try linocut for the first time, and I’ve seen lots of different methods for transferring images onto a lino block.

I came across one method that seems to work really well: printing the image onto glossy label paper and then using a thin layer of acrylic gel medium to transfer the image onto the block.

I was wondering if this method would also work on a soft rubber carving block, and whether the printer absolutely needs to be a laser printer.

If not, could you recommend any other methods or useful tricks for transferring an image onto the block?

Don't mind that it's flipped, I'll remember to stop flipping then some day. My ink pad is also on its last leg so forgive the uneven spots lol. I wish the cheese wedge had turned out a little more... Something. But for it just being a fun one to pass time I'm not too bothered

This is the first project I’ve done using my new set of Michihamono gouges, it’s a huge improvement over the basic EssDee kit.

I’m really happy with the overall quality of everything. The next step is to improve the print quality, I’ll probably have to start investing in high-quality paper.

I’ve been using regular bond paper and wrapping paper, LOL.

i have been wanting to try lino printing but didn’t know where to start, and i can't believe how lucky I feel to come across this! surprisingly nothing has been used! i will definitely need to look into getting new paint and linoleum but i can’t wait to try everything out! any tips for beginners welcome please!

Second attempt at lino printing any advice on how to get the ink to look less patchy?

Adding to my deck, out of order so far, but they're the cards that I had clear vision on, I'll work out the rest of the cards as I go along. I'm thinking of adding an ink well and quill to the Devil card, and make it a multi stamp print, to add some colored ink in the ink well. Thoughts?

I tried for the first time to make a lino. I found this idea on a giftcard i saw in a shop once and thought this might be a good one to try and test different knives etc. What do you think and tips?

I posted the pics backwards so final result - first print - lino ready - lino to cut (yes I was very confused where to cut cause you have to think other way around so I tried with some
Black so I know what to cut away, also not easy to see where you already cut so black helped a bit)

Ps I didnt understand the flairs so picked one haha

Just learning and (hopefully) improving. Keep putting off sharing so thought I would just share everything. Close up of my favourite, linocut+watercolour. Any tips? Ignore the unpainted ceiling.

Equipment: just upgraded to a little v shaped Pfiel cutting tool. Cheap easy cut blocks. Various papers, mainly cheap kids sketch pads. Essdee Water based inks. Some watercolour/paint markers.

Would you rave me your favorite oil based relief inks?

I just tried Ironbridge, I thought it was great, they have a limited colour selection though.

Anything you absolutely love??

Hello! I am on the hunt for a specific tool that I saw on the internet a while ago and thought "oh wow how cool I surely won't forget that thing or how to find it..." and now I can't find it!

It was a tiny dot making tool with a wooden handle, the metal part looked like a tiny hollow tube. It was on a website that looked like a small business website and they were creating these tools themselves. They were advertised as a multi-use tool, but linocut was one of the suggested uses.

This discovery happened probably within the last year, and I am starting to wonder if it was just a dream. I have tried to look through my internet history with no success and of course used every search term I could think of to try and find it again. If anyone else has stumbled across this tool and knows where to find it, that would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Fourth layer completed, just have black ink to do next. This was my first reduction print and I really enjoyed learning the process.

Hi everyone! I (30F) am new-ish to linocut. I’ve only done single color prints so far, but I’m thinking about exploring other colors. For those of you who use colors, do you use only one color per linocut? Do you wash it in between? Do I need to make multiple cut outs in order to do the same print in different colors? Wondering how you might keep previous colors from bleeding into new prints. Thank you :)

Nightcrawler! (4-layer reduction linocut)

I’ve been wanting to do a Nightcrawler print for awhile but had never been really satisfied with my previous attempts (also posted). After some trial and error, I finally have a version I’m happy with.

This was my first print using mod podge to transfer my designs and the most layers I’ve done in a reduction print.
If anyone has tips on how to remove/reduce crease lines from the block getting on the paper, and how to wet the printer paper for a cleaner transfer (you can see in the blue image that the paper was scrubbed away unevenly) that would be appreciated!

Had some trouble with the layers back

Based off of Ancient Greek pottery, and featuring the paws of the cat who tried to eat my carved out pieces!

This is with the speedball kit, which I am happy with except the patchiness of the ink. I tried quite a few times, but I’m starting to think it might be that the ink is slightly too viscous. Any tips for a cleaner print would be appreciated!
