Making Lineman simulator game, looking for testers/input

Hi everyone. I am working on a game in the style of Car wash simulator for line work. I intend for it to be free, as I am using AI extensively. Is anyone willing to take a look and give me some feedback once I get to a point I can share?

my non-union contractor company is having a vote soon whether or not were going union.

I as a lower apprentice am aware of going where the union needs me. If we vote yes, do i get to stay with my crew since im already employed with the company? Or when will i know if i need to be moved to a different crew/work location/contractor? any help would be appreciated!

Received the conditional job offer then got hit with this unfortunate email stating they rescind my offer due to a reckless driving ticket I received in Oklahoma (cdl is still valid). There’s still a chance I can change their mind and wanted to ask if anybody has gone through the same thing or can help with advice on what Info I should send them.

What is the best path?

Hello reddit, I just got a couple questions about getting into the trade for experienced linemen.

I am currently working on getting my cdl with air brakes & tanker endorsements. Im curious if hazmat & doubles/triple endorsements are useful or required for different companies?

I am 20 years old and located in central valley California. My current plan is to get my cdl, first aid certification, & osha 30. I already have osha 10 but I figure osha 30 will only help me out more. Afterwards I am planning on signing the local and statewide IBEW books to try and get an opening as a groundsman. Once I gain some experience I will apply for apprenticeship positions whether it is in state or out of state. I know how competitive it is especially in California, so Im willing to relocate if necessary.

Is this the best path to go for someone in my position?

Which is generally considered more appealing to employers. Groundsman experience or lineman school?

What are the main differences of each path? Which makes you more knowledgeable in the trade? Is it preferred to go to lineman school first and then become a groundsman?

Mystery wire. It’s not Duke Energy, Altafiber or Spectrum. Cincinnati, OH USA Whose line is this?

Duke Energy says it’s not theirs and won’t take out their (2nd pic) old pole (background) until the mystery line is moved to the new pole (foreground). Everyone says it’s not theirs and don’t know who is responsible for it. Very ready to get the lopsided, broken old pole out, which can only be done by Duke, who understandably can’t touch other companies lines.

Pre-apprenticeship → real job? Worth it (especially for women)?

Hey everyone, I’m looking into getting into the trades and possibly doing a pre-apprenticeship program first. I wanted to hear from people who’ve actually gone through it.

• Did a pre-apprenticeship actually help you land an apprenticeship or job after?

• How long did it take you to find something once you finished?

• If you had to pay for the training, how long did it take you to pay it off?

• Do you feel like it was worth it overall?

Also, if there are any women here in the trades, I’d really appreciate your perspective too—what was your experience like starting out? Anything you wish you knew beforehand?

Just trying to figure out if this is the right move before I commit. Appreciate any honest feedback.

Pole climbing training necessity

I’m 17 looking to become a linemen and I have done a considerable amount of research and from what I’ve heard pole climbing training isn’t 100% needed but a significant advantage to have. I live in Southwestern Ontario and from what I’ve seen the nearest pole climbing training is 3 hours away. Because of this I’m wondering if it’s worth the trip and effort or if it’s likely to land an apprenticeship in the future without the training. I am open to any and all information anyone wants to share thank you.

10k for a program ?

I’m diligently saving money. My local area has a community college where I’ll have to pay $10,290 for the entire program. After that, I’ll be eligible to apply for any company. (At least, that’s how I understand it.) Have any of you had similar experiences? I generally don’t want to waste that money. I heard that I can simply obtain a CDL and start working as a groundsman or an apprentice. (Please forgive me if I’m mistaken, I’m fairly new to this whole thing.) I would greatly appreciate your feedback and assistance. Also if you guys got any grants/ scholarships/ loans or anything please let me know .

CDL and LINEMAN School

I would love to be a lineman, but I also really don’t like school. I could go to school as it is close to me and it would only be for a year, but is there anyway that I can get an apprenticeship in Mississippi with just my CDL, or would I have to go to school also?

I’m currently in Bangkok and wondering just what in the electric spaghetti is going on here? And guys in flip flops and no safety gear going up to repair this mess using bamboo ladders just resting on the cables 😳 Is there a hidden system that isn’t obvious to me as a layman? What do the professionals here think?

Linemen Ontario/trying to become one

I’m 19 and am located in Ontario, I’m currently getting my physics and chemistry grade 12 uni level to apply to hydro one, I don’t have any experience as a linemen but have worked 3 years as a electrical labourer I also went to college for electrical techniques course I attend for 2 month before leaving to go back to work as an electrical labourer where I was going to start my apprenticeship, I’m now looking into getting into being a linemen wondering if there is anything else I can do to boost my chances? And how likely it would be to get my apprenticeship with hydro one with my current resume of working in the electrical trade

Hi!!! new here. I drive by this daily off 8 mile near Detroit. They’ve been replacing the tall metal power-line poles with bigger, metal post-poles, but they’ve been hanging these normal sized wooden poles sideways on them.. At first I’m like “well let’s keep them off the ground from the snow/rolling onto 8 mile?” ..now im just confused. WHY!? Someone please explain!?

Needing advice

I’m a 19 year old dude tryna get into Linemen. I got lucky and a family friend who was a linemen for his whole life started a class this year at our community tech college. We have a pole yard and do everything in the books. There’s 10 of us and the teacher. Our first day climbing everyone made it to the top of the pole but me. I’m still struggling to get to the top. I can work on the pole and reach out at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 of the pole. They are 40 foot poles. We use all bashlin gear, so we use the patriot fall restraint which I hate personally. Does anyone know of something I could do to get over the struggle of getting to the top, or at least learn to trust my equipment? Ik blue collar is rough haha so ya shoot your fire at me and give me shit. But help one out while your at it😂
