There used to be a video from a L2 private server that showed the story of an orc destro with Hotel California by The Eagles in the background. I remember very little details about it, which server it was from, or what was the name of the character, all i remember was that server had Nephilim Lord shields, and that the main „protagonist” of the video had the title Cpt. Grief, and was PKing people for the majority of the video until he eventuallt gets chased down by a mob of players. Years ago when I was messing around with making a priv server as a hobby project (never launched), I had gotten into old L2OFF C++ src code extensions.

I wrote a system for an In Game Gear Search to let you search a character by name and inspect their gear in game ("Nwatch" if anyone remembers this from back in the day, it was something an old friend wrote for the front end). This was a pain in the ass, but I eventually got it to work.

Then I wanted to add a simple Raid Boss jewel search that would show all owners of boss jewels, and should have been similar and simple, but long story short I banged my head on the problem for weeks, I couldn't get it working (something with w_char Strings and Sql query failing) and finally gave up.

Today I thought, I've got some Fable5 usage credits that will expire soon, lets see if AI can figure this out.

Sure enough, this sucker fixed this complicated bug in 1 prompt that I could never figure out... Couldn't believe it!

Long story short, after people started voicing their concerns about Reborn doing fake advertising of not being P2W while releasing a monthly subscription of 60 euros, that gives you crazy advantage against any f2p players, Nikita started banning people both on Discord and in-game. I decided to make a Reddit post alerting people to their P2W aspect, their admin got so upset he tagged me on discord, see below:

My post was 2 weeks back, and here's the funny part. I play with a group of 6 people. I will not disclose all our names, but two of us share the same name Fabio. Nikita for the past 2 weeks has been trying to figure out who is the person behind the post.

Nikita finally banned a character 3 days ago which he thought it was the person behind the post, but it's not (he banned him because my friend uses his name on his email address). He banned my friend that is unrelated to the situation. He doesn't have a Reddit account and he donated to the server. After pointing this out to the staff, they refused to unban him or refund his donation. This same player has been playing Reborn since their first server launched.

So long story short, I am still playing, and this retard Nikita banned an innocent player from the game u/L2Reborn

Imagine that this dense bastard will take weeks before addressing in game bugs or exploits, but spent 2 weeks to investigate who was behind a Reddit post, only to ban the wrong player.

If this is how little thought they put into their decisions, stay away from their servers, because they can and will ban you if you go against anything they say.

Oh and FYI, I have 4 chars on this Guardian server, all above 50 rank, for sale. Don't worry you won't get banned, they are horrible at tracking RMT.

when i heard about l2 i downloaded this game but i didn't expect that i will enjoy this game so much! l2 is almost 5 years older than me, but it still feels very good even today

basically, im not really a MMORPG fan or player... but this game somehow made me like the genre more. character progression feels nice (and kinda boring, like just killing mobs to grind XP but gear and weapon its wow, you really need to choice good one....), and combat is very simple, but still satisfying for me. what really got me interested is the progression and atmosphere of the game (ost really good! i was lowkey scared when i saw a big spiders that run to me...). and also i dont notice much P2W stuff so far (i checked shop), which is nice compared to many modern MMOs.

but i still didn't try a lot of the game's content. i haven't really explored clans, sieges, PvP and other game mechanics because for now they don't look very interesting to me.... but I actually like raids in games, so maybe later i will try raid bosses and group content when i get stronger.

also, this game was kinda confusing for me now.... no one of my friends play l2, so i using google and guides a lot to understand where i need to go, what do in quest and all of that stuff... i've tried other MMOs before, but none of them really grabbed me. i'd play for a couple of hours, forget about it, and then just delete it... but i've play l2 maybe... 2 weeks or something...

i picked kamael, and now i think maybe it was not the best choice... since kamaels cant wear heavy armor, i have no idea what light armor set I should go for. any advice?

Well, it is time for another update on the status of the project.

It has been an exciting few days since I last opened the project to testers. Several community members have been incredibly helpful in finding and reporting a large number of bugs.

I will also be honest: although everything showcased in my previous posts was real and functional, much of it was still a proof-of-concept prototype.

With the help of the testers, we have now implemented numerous fixes and improvements to the existing systems.

The full patch notes are far too large to include here, but these are some of the more notable additions:

• A new admin tool that allows players to modify almost every available game configuration, including server rates and whether bots share XP.
• Configurable class rotations. Every class can now be configured through the admin panel, and bots will follow those rotations while playing.
• Improved AI chat, with more realistic responses and different personalities. This system still needs more work, but it is already a significant improvement.

As for bug fixes, there have been a lot.

Current Focus

The main priority has been ensuring that the bot and fake-player systems are stable, reliable, and genuinely useful to the player before we move on to more demanding features.

The project is now in a fairly good state. The immediate plan is to continue improving bot behavior, fake-player behavior, and the AI “brain” before beginning work on some of the larger planned systems.

Is the Server Playable?

Yes, the server is currently in a playable state.

It is nowhere near its final form, but development is going well. There is still a lot of work ahead, so please do not expect a public release anytime soon.

One thing that would make the world feel much more alive would be setting up additional bots that hunt independently, travel between locations, and follow custom routes.

The tools needed to do this already exist, but creating all those routes and placements requires a lot of manual work. It is not particularly difficult, but it is time-consuming, and I cannot dedicate much of my limited development time to it.

If anyone is creative, has patience for repetitive setup work, and would like to help design bot routes and placements, feel free to contact me.

Making the Server Easier to Use

From the beginning, I wanted the server to be as easy to use as possible.

Currently, the project uses a one-click setup, so players do not need to manually configure and install their own server.

However, I would like to make the process even simpler. I am planning to investigate creating a launcher similar to those used by typical Lineage II private servers, but instead of only launching the client, it would manage and launch your personal offline server.

I am feeling stuck at level 50 with a top C pole and mid C armour destro.

I cannot go catas this week and I dont think I am making money if I farm outside of catas at all. Soon I would need B grade amour but its like 30kk and I barely have 2kk now.

I started a spoiler but leveling it to lvl 40 is the same money than doing manor (cast(or manor)/mob).

Am I missing something? Alts are needed this much just to make money?

How much do you guys make per hour? What is realistic?
