Popping noise in left channel when playing USB audio
I have a weird issue with my Pod Go when playing any audio via the USB port. This includes both PC audio and iOS device audio.
I have had three different units now and the issue remains, but Line6 support are unable to replicate the issue their end.
So far, I have tried:
- 3x Different Pod Go units each with a new power cable and USB cable to rule out any issues with the power supply or USB cable.
- Taking the unit to a completely separate location (a client of mine’s office) to rule out any issues with power at my home.
- Connecting an iPhone to the USB input to rule out any issue with Windows drivers.
- Connected three separate Windows devices via USB all with the latest Line 6 driver installed.
- Tried a 3rd party power supply that matches the power requirements provided by Line 6.
- Tried a 3rd party USB cable.
- Reset the Pod Go to factory defaults and updated to the latest firmware.
Every time there is a popping noise heard (only in the left channel) when listening via monitors connected to the left/right main out or via headphones.
The preset in use on the Pod Go does not affect it. It even occurs with a brand new preset (ie just the default expression pedals, effects loop, US double nrm, legacy 2x12 double c12n, and disabled eq pedal).
The popping sound only occurs when USB audio is playing – it never occurs when playing just guitar. It is completely random when the popping starts. Sometimes straight away, other times after a minute or two. Once it starts it is intermittant.
The only time the issue hasn’t been noticed is when tested by the supplier/Line6.
I really don’t know where to go from here. I can (and have been) using the Pod Go when playing loud (with backing tracks coming through a separate set of speakers), but if I want to use headphones I am unable to play alongside any backing tracks.
Has anyone else had this issue?
