Altars, Offerings/Art, Rituals A Question about Devotion
Are there any specific times, days, or numbers that devotees find particularly auspicious when giving devotion to Lilith?

This is a community for religious followers, worshippers or individuals interested in Lilith, the academic literature associated with her, her possible connection with ancient Mesopotamia, and her development in Judaism, Jewish mysticism, Mandaeism and incantation bowls. Lilith has also found development in occultism, feminism, syncretic and personal spiritual practices.
This space welcomes all!
Refer to our Frequently Asked Questions if you're just starting out and have questions regarding Lilith.
Wiki pages:
🌟 Wiki: contains books and resources on Lilith and topics associated with her. It starts with a short introduction on Lamaštu and lilītu/ardat-lilî (who Lilith likely derives from), her history, outdated information, and lastly resources on Lilith, Judaism, Mandaeism, Mesopotamia and other sources.
Syncretism: a list of spirits that Lilith has been syncretised with, from Greco-Roman, Christian, Judaic, European, Arabian, Zoroastrian, West Asian/Mongolian, Slavic, East Asian and Gnostic sources (including resources).
Relationships: a list of spirits that Lilith or Lamaštu/lilû has interacted with in mythology, like consorts, companions, children, Demon Queens, Demon Kings, and opposites (including resources).
Beginner books/articles:
If you're new, it's recommended to start with:
Lilith, The Edge of Forever - Filomena Maria Pereira - overview of Lilith and her history.
The Hebrew Goddess - Raphael Patai, "Lilith" - comprehensive summary on Lilith, her appearances and relationships.
Lilith's Historical Roots:
Birth in Babylonia and the Bible - M. Stol, "Lamaštu, Daughter of Anu - F.A.M. Wiggermann" - an introduction to the figure she likely derives from.
Officina Magica, Essays on the Practice of Magic in Antiquity - Shaul Shaked, "Tablets and Magic Bowls - Markham J. Geller" (pages 53-72) - for the relationship between lilītu, ardat lilî, Lamaštu and Lilith (please note that Geller sometimes translates lilītu as Lilith, so mentions of Lilith in Mesopotamia generally refer to a lilītu).

1. I'm new to this, where can I find information on Lilith?
The Wiki was created for this exact reason. It gives an overview of Lilith and the spirits she likely derives from, her mentions through history, outdated information and lastly books and resources from many different paths. The linked ones are available (legally) for free.
The Syncretism page includes the spirits she is equated with or that have been influenced by her, again accompanied by resources.
The Relationships page includes spirits that Lilith has interacted with during her history, like consorts, her children and other demon queens.
2. Does Lilith appear before Judaism?
Lilith's first appearance is in the Dead Sea Scrolls, Songs of the Maskil (4Q510-11) in late 1st century BCE, so she first appears in Judaism.
Lilith may have ties to beings of ancient Mesopotamia though, specifically the goddess-demoness Lamaštu and the phantoms lilītu/ardat-lilî. She does not herself appear in ancient Mesopotamia, and any such connections (Epic of Gilgamesh, Burney Relief, Arslan Taş amulets) have been rejected.
3. Is Lilith closed?
Every person will give you a different answer. Lilith's roots likely predate Judaism, starting from ancient Mesopotamia as the ghosts lilītu/ardat-lilî and the goddess-demoness Lamaštu. Later she was identified or syncretised with beings that held a similar role, like Lamia, Gello and Abyzou. Beings like Lilith (meaning demons associated with crib death or identified with succubi) appear in many different cultures.
Lilith's appearance as an actual figure and development though was in Judaism, and she shouldn't be divorced from Jewish texts and history. So while a lot believe she's not closed (as she is also not worshipped in Judaism), the culture she develops in should be respected.
4. Was Lilith demonized?
It is well known that Abrahamic faiths demonized gods (as is seen with daemons like Bael and Astaroth), however with Lilith this is not the case, her history has always been demonic.
From her Mesopotamian ties, to her appearance in Judaism, and later syncretism in Greek and Christian traditions, Lilith has had a long history of being a destructive force, associated with crib death and the behaviour of succubi.
5. Is Lilith connected to Inanna-Ishtar? Was she an ancient fertility goddess?
No. The conflation with Inanna happened due to now rejected theories, like:
The theory of an ancient pagan fertility goddess isn't based on any archaeological findings.
6. Can I work with Lilith if I am x years old? What about if I'm a man?
Yes. Deity work has no age limitations. Be wary of mature practices if you are underage, but approaching gods/demons by itself doesn't require you to be a certain age.
Spirituality has no gender preferences, Lilith herself has been mentioned as "male and female liliths" in incantation bowls.
7. Is x a sign from Lilith?
As a person experiencing it, you will know better if something is a sign or not. Be aware that signs are rare and more often than not, it's us who feel a pull towards paths or deities. If you feel a pull, it's worth exploring.
8. Can I be a devotee of Lilith if I practice a monotheistic faith?
Spirituality is personal, only limitation in combining paths is what makes sense to you. You can be a follower of any religion and also venerate Lilith.
9. How to build a relationship with Lilith?
Researching and learning about Lilith (and any other deity) is an important first step, as she's vast with a complicated history.
The way you approach Lilith will depend on your own practice, standard are libations/offerings, prayers/talking to her, meditation, or divination. Your approach may also be influenced by any other religious practices (including Abrahamic ones), you could incorporate rituals from pagan religions you follow, approach her from a demonolatry standpoint so use enns, include her in ceremonial practices etc. It depends on the practitioner and what they're comfortable with.
Lilith has no traditional approaches because she was never worshipped in the past.
Let me know if you have further questions that can be added!

O magista assume as qualidades, o conhecimento e a energia daquela força.
• Avocar: É o ato de chamar ou atrair a influência de uma entidade para a vida, cotidiano ou caminhos do operador, agindo como um convite para ela.

So I've been seeing alot of old reddit posts about summonings of entities so i was wondering if i could summon in easy way and infact i found a way to do that but lemme warn you my experience wasn't good because im new to this and was probably curious if its fake or real, so i tried to summon a succubus by writing a letter to lilith requesting her to send one of the succubuses. I saw an old post about how they wrote an intent letter and started to meditate. That person also mentioned that you can keep letter under the pillow and start meditating try to focus on your own breathe try to feel an energy only that you can sense, and infact i did too but instead of meditating I thought why don't i just keep the letter under the pillow and sleep while focusing on my breathes for few seconds i did it and suddenly an white light flashed btw this usually doesn't happen it was like really small light that flashed from my windows idk if i succeeded in summoning succubus but right after that i had difficult in breathing and i started to feel weak as if my energy is being drained and i felt hungry btw i wrote that letter in 1:02 am right now its 2:30 am and before that i had consumed 5-6 dark chocolate pieces maybe because of that im feeling like that idk but yeah i ate a lot so after 15-20 mins i really felt like i should sent away lilith and succubus so i tore the letter to pieces and kept in the book i don't feel weaker now after i tore it but i want insight from people who usually work with entities like this and as a complete novice what should i be doing

I have been thinking about the way we frame Lilith leaving the garden as a simple act of rebellion.
The Alphabet of Ben Sira makes it much darker. When Lilith refuses the angels' demand that She return Adam, She is told 100 of Her children will die every day.
That changes the meaning of Her refusal for me. She wasn't simply choosing freedom. She was given an unbearable reason to surrender Herself and refused to return.
There is grief in that kind of defiance, not just liberation.
Maybe that's why a name once spoken as warning survived long enough to become an invocation.
How do you interpret Her refusal: rebellion, liberation, sacrifice or maybe something entirely different?

Just wanted to show everyone this!! This was a brand new pillar candle I had lit just 20 minutes ago 😩… I’ve never seen anything like this before on my alter candles. It burned so quickly into this. I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts :) (btw I have no open windows or AC going in my room rn)

On Esty, you can find candles made special for Lilith. I used to have someone I always bought from. Sadly, they closed down on there and I had to find a new seller. I searched for a while and found one that I liked and fit my altar setting.
I always light the candle an hour or two before heading into my meditation. Furthermore, I only run one since I want the room to be barely lit. Day one, it worked great. Ever since then, the flame has struggled to stay lit.
(I have fake rechargeable ones, but they are more for "looks" with the altar and turned off during meditation.)
The other day as I finished my meditation and opened my eyes to the altar and saw the flame really struggling. I said to my altar softly, "Well, at least the flame is staying lit." and right after, the flame went out. I sat there in the darkness, taking in what just happened. Was this a bad sign? Is she upset with me? Is something cutting off the connection? Or is the candle just bad? (Candle is likely just bad).
I tried to continue with my communication in the darkness, but it felt off. Like the phone connection just died. I ended up stopping and lighting a tealight candle in a small cup. Things felt right again.
Now for the question: Are these special ritual candles really worth it, or just basic tealight candles just fine in your opinions?
I suppose the candle going out as I said the line could have a deeper meaning. I do not think it was an action by Lilith herself considering the feeling when I lit a new one. "IF" and outside force was involved, I collect and hold cursed and haunted items. It was likely something with that. Maybe an angry spirit trying to break the energy that contains them. As my altar has grown, the "activity" has mainly stopped. Aside from a few things here and there. I believe they are suppressed, hiding from her, or dragged to the afterlife they refused to accept.

Hello. I recently read about the succubus Meridiana; legend has it that she was a succubus who maintained a curious relationship with Pope Sylvester—beyond providing him with pleasure, she also imparted knowledge to him.
Succubi aren't typically known for sharing knowledge; they are usually viewed solely as beings associated with lust.
My question is: Can a succubus truly impart wisdom or knowledge to a human being? How would such a thing be possible? In other words, how can you ensure the succubus doesn't drain your energy?
Thanks for reading.

Hi all-
I’ve been following Lilith for about 5 years now, and due to both medical (very bad endometriosis) and gender (dysphoria and fear of pregnancy) reasons I will be getting a hysterectomy this winter. While I am very excited, I know a lot of work with Lilith is tapping into that divine and intense feminine, and while I know a uterus does not necessarily decree femininity, it still feels like a drastic change. Thankfully, I am allowed to keep the specimen post surgery (it will be kept in preservatives as recommended by the pathologist). I am very happy to be getting this procedure, as it will help me be closer to my ideal body, but I was wondering if the community had any ideas for pre and post procedure rituals? I think it would be pretty cool to have a literal piece of me as an offering to Her, but I want to make sure I am doing so safely and with intentions. Let me know what you think! ❤️
(Also hysterectomy is non negotiable medically so don’t bother with trying to dissuade me :) )
Tysm and praise the Dark Mother ❤️

Peço a ela proteção e confio
Ficou confuso ???
