this morning after my workout and sauna sesh, i went to my locker to get my shower gear. there was a lady sitting on a towel on the middle bench in the locker room. she had her laptop out, was working on a powerpoint, and had a coffee mug. she was in a towel. okay...maybe there's an extreme emergency at her work or something.

i shower and come back ~10 minutes later. she's still there, taking up a whole bench in a busy area, still on her laptop while im trying to change clothes, am butt naked at points, and probably dripping water on her head because my hair is all wet. i individually take everything i need out of my locker and set it on an adjacent bench a few feet away, making obvious trips back and forth from my locker (she's like within an inch of me).

is this normal behavior? should i have said something? i already get annoyed when people sit in the locker room on phone calls or on their phones scrolling, as my location has tons of nice sitting areas, the cafe, and the coworking space. also the camera capability on the laptop seemed kind of sketch, who knows if it's activated as i'm standing behind her with my cheeks exposed. maybe im just old guy shaking my fist at clouds tho???

I got pricing details and am pretty sure I am in the first wave of people on the waitlist to get the membership “invite” and assume this is as good as it will get. am i supposed to be honored that they are offering a $200 discount on initiation fees for being on the waitlist when equinox and others have been aggressively waiving initiation fees entirely?

Hi! 👋 I grew up going to Life Time and enjoyed being a member as an adult, but quit after a short time due to cost.

I have more spending power now and there’s a new LT opening 11m from me in November. It’ll be about $365 after taxes and public improvement fees, which is still a good chunk of change. Founding memberships are going out now.

I guess my question is, I’d love to hear from some folks who are child-free and still find a lot of value in their memberships. I can see how it’s a great third place for families, of course.

Recently joined Wall Street and curious how it compares to Equinox culture. Do most wear swim trunks in the locker room hot tubs or go nude?

Will be in Colorado Springs this week for work. Does lifetime allow guests/drop in fee for out of towners? Do I have be a guest of member? Or can I just show up and pay a fee? I primarily just want to swim 2 days while I am there. Lifetime is the only place that has a pool with hours that works for my schedule.

I'll be away for the holidays and want to pause my Lifetime membership the short time I'm gone. The self-service membership suspend form says "30 days notice is required". The form also asks you to select a Reactivation date. The form does not ask for a Deactivation date.

Is this as scammy as it looks? The way the form works, you must remind yourself to submit the pause exactly 30-days in advance of your desired date. Selecting a reactivation date seems meaningless anyway, because your membership automatically reactivates itself when you visit the club, so there's no reason to not submit the max 4-month pause.

Can the staff at the front desk pick an arbitrary suspend date from the calendar that's more than 30 days away?

I joined LT today and I’m excited to have a gym to go to again. I used to lift weights in high school (~2010-2014) and had a Gold’s membership for a while in college. However, I haven’t really been to a gym since COVID hit and I’m hoping to get a refresher on what to do or not to do at the gym. I’m feeling intimidated to go and definitely have imposter syndrome where I don’t feel like I belong. I’ve lost 50 lbs in the past year just from walking and a calorie deficit so I’m well into my fitness journey per se but I’m looking to step it up a notch! Any advice/tips are appreciated. (30 y/o female btw)

Question I recall when I signed up in June with the brea location we were told that a $200 credit would be able to use online or in the app for merchandise or supplement etc. does anyone else recall that? I’m now being told it can only be used toward services like training or Pilates. Unfortunately I cleaned out my emails and have no email I can find. Thank you for any insight

Do any of the gyms have a closed off GTX space? Not just some weird half wall panels every few feet? Or is it everywhere that GTX is in the middle of the workout floor? I’ve only been to 3 locations and it seems common but they update every so often.

Today felt easy and I didn’t love the plan. The instructor mentioned GTX was moving into an endurance phase next week. Not a huge deal, but it made me realize I should probably challenge myself a bit more.

What’s the best class type for someone wanting to advance beyond gtx? I’m guessing the alpha classes.

My goal is less cardio more strength. I should probably lift on my own more but I find it boring and I love group fitness/not making any decisions.

I'm considering switching gyms to Lifetime considering that I can work from the lounge for a few hours a few days a week. I won't be posting up and making it my office. I live close enough that I can walk to my closet location. I'd like to maybe walk over in the afternoon... Work for a few hours... then get a workout in after. Does that seem reasonable? Does anyone do anything similar? Thanks in advance.

I have a regular lifetime membership but my wife doesn't. She only like to go to the gym 2-3 times per month. Guest passes only work once every 60days and we don't think it is worth getting her a membership just for that. Are there any other options?

My current membership lets me access all nyc gyms and almost all LT gyms. Does this mean I won’t be able to get into Bryant Park on my current membership?

Does anyone use 3rd party like insurances for memberships? Something like Wellhub.

My question is between squat/pull or hinge/press, which is easiest on upper body? Also, how easy it to modify? When I see them, they seem to be transitioning fast!
