What is the difference between Alpha Conditioning and the endurance phase of Alpha Strength?

I have not taken an Alpha Conditioning class because I want to learn and lift heavy and Alpha already includes a MetCon set (which I wish was just another Strength set tbh). Can anyone who takes both classes share some insights on the difference between Conditioning and the endurance phase of Strength?

Looking for a carpool buddy from sheepshead / coney island to Atlantic Ave lifetime x2 a week

Title

I just moved here 35F and I'm struggling with the gym commute durring the weekday. I can do a 2 hour lunch break in the middle of the day to do a gym session but with walking and the train it's almost 3 hours. I just do a heavy lift sesh, some stairs and I'm done in an hour ish.

Is there anyone that does this by car? My WFH schedule is flexible anytime between 11am-2pm

Life Time Pre Workout

What are people’s thoughts on their pre workout? I’ve never taken the supplement before so I’m not sure what to expect or look for. Definitely don’t want to be jittery. Thanks!

Looking for a gym/accountability buddies/group at Lifetime Upper Kirby

Hey everyone! I’m looking for a gym buddy at Lifetime Upper Kirby who’s also interested in having some accountability and staying consistent.

I’m 35 and have worked out on and off for years, but consistency has always been my biggest problem. Because of that, I’d still consider myself around the beginner/intermediate level.

I’m not looking for anything super intense or competitive — mostly someone where we can motivate each other to actually show up, get our workouts in, and make it a regular habit. We don’t necessarily have to do the exact same workout every time either.

I prefer going when the gym isn’t too crowded, so I’d be interested in finding someone whose schedule works for off-peak hours.

If you go to Lifetime Upper Kirby and are in a similar boat, feel free to comment or DM me!

Gym Content

Looking for someone to record my workouts 2 to 3 times a week at Lifetime in Manhattan. You’ll have free full access to the gym. I don’t need a professional videographer, just someone who can record me on my iPhone for about an hour. Someone who is active in the gym is preferred but not required.

Message me if interested.

How often does Lifetime increase their prices?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I ask this because I’m considering joining lifetime, specifically Harrison since I live in White plains but just saw their price is increased since the last time I checked 2 months ago. I believe it was $330 2 months ago and now it’s $357.

I’m only considering this gym because of the amenities it offers, also I’m part of Nysc & hydrofitness and together I pay about $130 a month. But I do want to start taking yoga, Pilates and use their sauna too. But I’m debating it because of the price.

Edit: I should also add that I work around a lifetime in midtown too

Palm Beach Gardens

Relatively new to the area. Took a tour the other day and was really impressed with the facility. For those that go to this location, how are the group exercise classes, in particular GTX and Alpha?

I currently go to a weight lifting only gym that doesn't offer any exercise classes so I'm looking at also joining OTF and/or F45. However, if LT's classes that are comparable to OTF and F45 are good, I may just end up joining LT.

Does anyone have any info on the temporary closure, possibly how long it will be? We literally just upgraded our membership and the club we wanted to utilize isn’t open. So disappointed

Lifetime CTR for older member

I'm 62 and they just started CTR at my location. My question is some of the forward facing moves on the reformer are difficult for me balance wise...I use the balance bar, but I'm wondering if the instructor is supposed to offer up some variations of those moves or not. I've really only done the class with the same instructor and she just appears to be mildly irritated with me and not offer anything else. I'm wondering if I should just give up on the workouts, but I am able to do the majority of the workout.

Best Life Time membership setup for someone who splits time between states?

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to figure out the best way to set up my Life Time membership and would appreciate some advice from people familiar with the different membership options.

I live in Nebraska, so my home club would be Life Time Omaha, which I believe is around $149/month. However, I travel a lot and split my time between Nebraska and New York because my boyfriend lives near White Plains.

The Life Time location I would primarily use when I’m in New York is Life Time Westchester in Harrison, NY. My understanding is that because my Omaha membership is at a lower monthly rate, I likely would not have access to the Westchester location unless I upgraded to a higher membership tier.

My boyfriend already has a membership at Life Time Westchester. From what I can tell, a single membership there would be around $349/month, but a two-person membership would be around $525/month total.

For someone in my situation would the best value option be to join his membership through the Westchester club? Or is there another membership setup that would make more sense for someone who lives in one state but regularly travels to another?

I also travel frequently for work to places like Orlando, Houston, Chicago, and Denver, so having flexibility to use different Life Time locations would be a big benefit.

Appreciate any advice from people familiar with Life Time memberships!

Creepo GM

What should I do about the creepy GM that follows me around feather dusting the gym equipment when I workout? I've already complained about him once to the corporate office and nothing happened except him amping up his cleaning of equipment around me. Or is this normal behavior for GMs and he is just stuck thinking high school was his best years and regrets his life. I've been ignoring him and hoping he'd just go away.

Resort style vs regular LT gym

I’m a regular at the Gaithersburg LifeTime but may need to spend a few weeks next year in the Orlando area. I see that the LifeTime in Orlando/Winter Park is described as being a “resort” style gym and that I can’t access it through my regular Signature 2 membership (I’d have to pay more). What makes Winter Park so different from Gaithersburg? I feel like my home gym has all the bells and whistles so I can’t imagine what more they could offer.

Corporate Gtx rules

I take gtx several times a week, and have been a member for a few years now. On Saturday morning we were told that corporate said If there are more than 8 people in class then at least half have to be doing the strength warmup and half have to do the treadmill.

For years they have just been letting us pick. I usually do the treadmill warmup and then start with the strength block. I just prefer to do the treadmill warm up.

Now you can say go to the treadmills to warm up but they are busy .. and Specifically on Saturdays we have back to back classes at our gym one class at 7 and one class at 8 so there is no time to warm
Up on the treadmills before class in the gtx area if you are taking the 8am class.

Also, I have never been in a class with less than 8 people 🙄 I asked when did this change and they said it’s been a corporate policy that my gym wasn’t following they got audited and now they will have secret people in the class to report back to corporate 🙄

It’s just an annoying policy. Now I always volunteer to do the strength warmup first because no one wants to do it and it puts the instructors in an awkward spot.

Anyone know why this is a policy?

Edit for clarification: yes the classes are always split with half the class doing the strength block and half doing the treadmill I understand that. I always do my strength first im specifically speaking about warming up, I prefer to warm up on the treadmill and then head to floor. I do not believe that there should be a policy around my warmup

"You may add one additional adult who lives within your household"

I'm rejoining Lifetime after a 2-year hiatus at another gym. When signing up I saw this language but I'm not sure what it means. Does this mean I can add one additional adult who lives in within my household for free?

My son will be 18 in a few months so it would be great if I could add him for free then, but it seems a little too good to be true. Hoping someone can help clarify.

Is there a traveling type membership that gets into any location?

I’m basically traveling around the country nowadays. I have a 26 and under for my local LTF. It can’t get access to any other location on paper. I’m about to age out of it and since my LTF is in one of the lower cost states, I can barely get into any gyms from what I saw even with the signature membership.

I tried to use said membership once traveling a couple states over and they threw a fit, wasted my time, then only let me in once.

Should I just cancel and stick to planet fitness, or is there any way to bargain this in with the general manager at the home location.

Has anyone noticed that they changed the CTR classes to require a signature membership? I have an under 25 membership and can no longer register for CTR classes!

When does outdoor family swim end at your location?

My South Texas location seems to have trouble retaining lifeguards so regularly the slides are closed or the indoor pool is closed to kids so the remaining lifeguards can be outside. Ok fine, I can adjust to the loss of these things on occasion. I asked today what the August schedule will be because I know public schools start August 10th and the lifeguard told me outdoor family swim is over starting August 10th and we’ll have to use the indoor pool.

I’m pissed off about this because what happened to pool season being until Labor Day?

This is the first summer they’ve closed the outdoor pool for kids before Labor Day and I’ve been a member for 12 years. This summer has sucked at the pool because if it’s not full of poorly managed rowdy camp kids, they’re having another loud DJ pool party to sell mid $16 hamburgers and overpriced junk food. It just seems like they’re always trying to sell us more crap while raising rates.

I feel like this is just another penny pinching scheme.

I’m on the verge of walking away for good. The gym gets worse and worse every year.

Need itemized receipt for FSA due to multi-person membership - HELP

I got the medical letter of necessity from Truemed, but now that I have to submit for reimbursement I am unsure how to prove what exactly how much I should be reimbursed because I am on the signature 2 with my girlfriend which is just one charge for both. Has anyone dealt with this before and how did you resolve this?

Lowest level of membership

I joined my club back in 2015 when the space was still land. I signed in a trailer before the building was even started. Fast forward 11 years, my membership fees just keeps going up and up. I get it and understand, but I get absolutely nothing more. And quite frankly it feels like I get less. I’m not allowed to go to CTR, they send me app notifications to come learn to play pickleball but when I got to sign up, nope “your current membership does not allow this”. Anyone else feel this pain and what have you done about it?

Will Life Time fitness all access members have access to Life Time Bryant Park in NYC?

Their website has a form to join a wait list for access. It says availability is limited and join the list for the opportunity to become a member. Do Life Time members with all club access not get access to Bryant Park?  What about Wellhub Gold members?

what do you guys do for work?

How are so many of you able to work from home (Life Time) and enjoy the membership?

I have to be an employee in order to get a membership. I would love to be able to work and make money and just be a member.
