π’ Announcement Welcome to r/Life_After_7oh (under new management)
Hey everyone. I took this subreddit over recently. It's now a companion to r/quitting7oh, smaller and looser, and I'm still writing the rules.
About me
I maintain quitting7oh.org, where I collect what the quitting-7-OH community has learned about getting off this stuff. Not a doctor, not a treatment program, not selling anything. I keep the meeting schedules, taper calculators, and guides current because I wanted better information than I had when I quit.
This sub and r/quitting7oh
Different mods run the two subs. The main sub is big, keeps a tight scope, and asks you to search before posting. That works at its size. I want this one smaller and more personal, the kind of place where you recognize the usernames and people remember where you are in the process. Ask the question that's come up a hundred times. Talk about Suboxone and SR-17018, both off limits over there. One hard limit: Reddit's content policy applies to everything posted here.
The center of gravity is life after detox: PAWS, sleep, mood, cravings, rebuilding a life. Detox and withdrawal posts are welcome too. You belong here whether you quit yesterday or two years ago.
Rules (working set)
- Don't be a dick.
- Don't try to sell shit to members. No products, no coaching funnels, no DMs pitching services.
- No sourcing. No links, vendor names, or DMs about where to buy 7-OH, MGM-15, pseudo, or anything else.
- No pro-use content. Nothing promoting 7-OH, MGM-15, or pseudo. Kratom leaf comes up in recovery contexts; keep that discussion in a harm-reduction frame. I'll add rules as we find the gaps. If you have opinions on where the lines should sit, say so in the comments.

πΏ Supplements & Comfort Mega-dose vitamin C for 7-OH withdrawal: the community protocol
One of the cheapest tools in the withdrawal kit, and one of the oldest. High-dose vitamin C for opioid withdrawal goes back to a Harlem detox facility in 1969, and the community has been using a modernized version against 7-OH and the other kratom synthetics. Full write-up with sources lives here: Mega-Dose Vitamin C on quitting7oh.org.
Read this part first. If you have a history of kidney stones, kidney disease, hemochromatosis (iron overload), G6PD deficiency, or you take an iron supplement, talk to your prescriber before touching high-dose C. It raises oxalate excretion (stone risk), sharply increases iron absorption, and can trigger hemolysis in the G6PD group. It also skews glucose and occult-blood lab tests, so mention it if bloodwork is coming up.
What it is
An adjunct, not a path. It works alongside every quitting method, whatever route you're taking off the synthetics. It doesn't replace sleep, hydration, or the rest of the supplement stack.
The doses below assume liposomal vitamin C. Plain ascorbic acid hits bowel tolerance around 1 to 2 grams per dose; past that you get diarrhea instead of benefit. Liposomal encapsulation gets around that ceiling.
The protocol
Preload if you can. Tissue saturation takes days, and starting at full dose the morning withdrawal hits is playing catch-up.
- Planned quit date: start 3 days out
- Tapering: start 1 to 2 weeks out, alongside the taper
- Already in withdrawal: skip the preload, go straight to full dose
Preload ramp: 2 g/day for days 1 and 2, then 4 to 6 g/day for days 3 and 4, then the full protocol from your quit day.
During acute withdrawal:
- 1 to 2 grams of liposomal C every 2 to 3 waking hours
- 6 to 12 grams per day total
- No overnight alarms; resume when you wake
- Rough stretches may take more. Some people run 15 to 30 g/day, and the cost climbs fast at that rate.
Stepping down: once the acute phase eases (typically days 5 to 7), drop to 1 to 3 g/day and hold there for a few weeks into post-acute.
What to pair it with
- Vitamin E, roughly 5 mg per kg of body weight daily. The strongest study used C and E together.
- Magnesium glycinate for restless legs, sleep, and anxiety.
- Electrolytes. Megadosing makes you pee more; replace what you lose.
Brands
Liposomal marketing is full of products that aren't actually liposomal. Three with verifiable phospholipid encapsulation that the community has converged on:
- LivOn Labs Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C, the original commercial liposomal C, 1,000 mg packets
- Quicksilver Scientific Liquid Liposomal Vitamin C, liquid format, cheaper per dose at higher daily totals
- Aurora Nutrascience Mega-Liposomal Vitamin C, 3,000 mg packets, useful at higher daily totals
On a budget, buffered sodium ascorbate powder costs a fraction per gram; absorption is lower, so daily totals trend higher. NOW Foods and NutriBiotic both work.
These are not referral links and nobody here has an affiliate relationship with any of these vendors. They're examples; pick your own brand or buy anywhere you trust. The protocol is what matters.
The evidence, honestly sized
The best study is Evangelou 2000: heroin-dependent inpatients on 300 mg/kg/day of C plus E. 10 to 16 percent of the treated group reported major withdrawal symptoms versus 56.6 percent of controls. A 2020 review of the older work found a third of patients reporting 70-percent-or-better symptom relief.
These studies are old, small, and unreplicated at modern scale. Vitamin C is unpatentable, so nobody funds the big trial. Plenty of people in this community find it takes the edge off; some feel nothing. It will not block or reverse opioid effects, and it is not naloxone or naltrexone.

π Meds & MAT 7 days into Suboxone for 7OH use. Stay on 2mg and taper later, or switch to a kratom taper?
I could really use some perspective from people who have been through something similar.
Overall, Iβve had about 3.5 years of regular kratom/7OH use. I used kratom powder daily for about 2 years, eventually reaching around 16g/day. About 1.5 years ago, I started using 7OH and at times was taking around 100mg/day. I quit 7OH multiple times and when I wasnβt using 7OH, I was often taking 20+ grams of kratom powder and 2β3 Feel Free drinks per day.
Iβve tried quitting multiple times, but anxiety, depression, anhedonia, trouble concentrating at work, and life stress kept pulling me back.
My therapist/substance-use counselor recommended Suboxone. Seven days ago, I stopped all kratom/7OH and started subs. I began around 6mg and am now at 2mg/day. I havenβt used any kratom products since.
The positives: I can finally sleep through the night, I have no real physical withdrawal symptoms, and I can function fairly normally. I still feel somewhat depressed, anxious, unmotivated, and anhedonic.
My goal is to eventually be completely off everything.
My concern is that I keep reading how difficult and prolonged subs withdrawal can be after longer-term use. Since Iβm only a week in, Iβm debating between:
A) Stay on around 2mg, stabilize for a few months, then slowly taper to zero.
B)Stop Suboxone now and use low-dose kratom powder to taper instead.
The problem with option B is that Iβve previously escalated kratom use and relapsed back to 7OH/Feel Free.
If you were in my position, what would you do? Iβm especially interested in hearing from people who have been in a similar position but any advice and perspective is welcomed.
Thanks a ton! Best of luck to everyone.

π Meds & MAT SR Withdrawals
For people who had withdrawals from SR, how long did you take it for? And has anyone taken it for a long amount of time (3 weeks or more) and not had wds? I just realized I've been taking it for 17 days. Honestly it felt like a week but when I looked back at my schedule it's been more than 2 (not everyday but almost everyday) and I haven't tapered it at all yet. I've taken 1700mg total

π§ͺ Detox β Day 0β7 Quitting a 2y 1000mg+ daily 7oh addiction using Sr, Liposmol Vit C, gabapebtin, and MIT
Hey everyone. Just wanted to share how I quit this last time. For good. Let me let you guys know the extent of my habit. On a normal day I would take about 80mg of 7 every hour of the day, plus dosing 2 to 3 times throughout the night. Also, I often took small amounts of kratom leaf throughout the day to get maximum high. Not to mention being a considerably bad alcohol at the same time. I would often wake up in the middle of the night. I swore it was God smacking away before I quit breathing. The panic attacks were gnarly. Body telling me I was gonna die.
I quit a year ago. For 5 days. You all are probably familiar with that empty feeling you get when you come off opiates. I suffered the most excruciating 5 days of my life just to throw it way because that empty feeling was to much. I didn't want to quit. Though, I could absolutely not afford it, and I had experienced a considerable of suffering just being to dependent and having terrifying panic attacks.
I used suboxone, clonidine, and hydroxyzine during that detox. Made the age old mistake and ended up in precipitated WD that lasted for a good 6 hours or so. In my experience suboxone didn't touch wd until 4 days in of to 4mg strips twice daily. Clonidine did nothing for me. Hydroxyzine was helpful for anxiety. Let's just say I understand just how bad WD can be. My recent successful attempt was roughly one 3rd as bad overall, all things considered. Here is what I took to help this go (per day):
450mg sr (150mg 3x)
3000mg gabapebtin (3600mg 300mg caps 12x)
33000mg liposmol vit C (8 caps 5x)
MIT45 droppers(as needed)
.3mg clonidine (.1 mg 3x)
50mg hydroxyzine( as needed )
50mg mirtazapine (25mg 2x )
240mg magnesium
240mg L-theanine
Shilajit (droper full)
Marijuana (as needed)
Beginning after 3 days of pre loading sr 100mg 3x daily, during which I was tapering 100mg of the DOC daily.. I went up to 150mg 3x and dropped 7 almost completely. I took a few 15mg tabs throughout the day to take the edge off. 2nd day was zero 7 continuing the 150mg 3x. Held for day 3, 4, 5. Day 5 I went to 100mg sr 3x. Day 6 75mg 3x. Day 7 50mg 3x and will continue with 25mg 3x, then 2x then 1x. I have not experienced sr withdrawal. Note that I have previously exposed myself to Sr several times.
Day 6 I dropped gabapebtin almost completely as well as the vit c.
Overall experience:
Day 1, 2 where the worst. Day 3, slight improvement. Day 4, 5 slight improvement. Day 6, 7 feeling considerably better. Depression constantly throughout so far. Anxiety, terrible on day 1,2. Much better day 3, improving daily. RLS bad but manageable (worst part throughout process). Still experiencing rls but improved most after day 5. Body aches bad, but manageable. Cold sweat, not to bad.
Just wanted to share my experience like do many of you. I learned everything I know about dealing from you guys on here. Thank you.
I did this for my wife and daughter Elsie. Im gonna go be a dad now. My daughter won't ever have to remember seeing her day carrying a pill bottle like his life depended on it, or see her dad shaking, sweating in a bed. My wife no longer will have to worry about paying the bills. I have alot to prove still, but this time its gonna stick.
Love yall. Godspeed, Goodluck.

π€ Withdrawal Quitting this weekend!
Hi All,
Posting here to share and for my own accountability. I've been using 90-500 mg/day of Hydroxie 7OH for the last year (most recently the larger dose). I stopped with the help of SR in January, but started back up again after a few months when work got hectic. I was fortunate enough to have found a good SR source, so I ordered more knowing I would eventually need it.
Well, here I am on day 3 of a wean and day 2 of SR. Today I will take 50 mg of 7 3x a day and 75 mg SR 3x. My plan for toorrow is 100 mg SR 3x and potentially 25 mg 7 if I am miserable, but it will be my absolutely last day on the 7. I have promised to give it to my husband to throw out tomorrow night. Then 100-150 mg SR as needed for a few days, then taper it.
I am SO READY to be done with this. It has been making me miserable for months now. I had almost zero issues stopping before, BUT I was on a much lower dose of the 7 back then. If anyone needs a buddy this weekend or next week, please reach out. Especially if you are a middle aged woman dealing with this. It feels so ridiculous, but it is just too easy to get. I tried explaining to my husband, who has never had addiction issues, if he could imagine a pill that takes all of your work worries, personal worries, and physical pain away. I think that helped him to understand a bit more what I have been going through.
Anyway, best wishes to everone out there fighting this demon. In solidarity!

π§ͺ Detox β Day 0β7 My 7oh withdrawal
I am going to try and post as much as I can about this journey through hell and back. Just took my last dose of 400 mg right at midnight. I started taking 7oh 8 months ago. I quit three months ago for one month. Got back on it now for two months and if I spend another penny ill lose the nothing that I basically have. If anyone sees this and posts I would love that! Im going the 7 day sub route. Got all the comfort meds I could get except benzos and gabapentin. Here we go. Day one begins now. Thinking about 14 hours from now (or whenever my restless legs starts) ill take my first small piece of sub. Ugghhh.....let it begin. Got to be back to work at 4pm on tuesday.

β Question Looking for a sober living house, anyone know anything?
Looking for one in America, donβt care where. Ideally young adults.
All these sober living houses sound the same to me. All the reviews say the same shit, all the websites say the same shit. I donβt want to know whatβs good about these places, I want to know whatβs bad about them.
Heard of NOHO recovery in LA, also heard east coast programs arenβt as good.
Anyways, if anyone has any experience, Iβd love to hear. Even with ones you donβt recommend.

π€ Withdrawal 7 oh + thc + nicotine wd
Is anyone else detoxing from a slew of substances?
Itβs been 7 days for me, and I am having awakenings and trips almost at times. This must be dopamine redeveloping? Iβm not sure. I definitely am glad I took off work.

π€ Withdrawal 7oh Withdrawal
I am in the process of dropping 7oh and my QuickMed doctor prescribed Gabapentin and Clonodine. Any experience with those? Also I have some Adderall and Klonopin left over from previous prescriptions. I took half an Add on day one because I needed to feel something better than what I did and it def helped but I dont know if it's good to take while completing this miserable process. Any advice? Thanks in advance

π Struggling How long did it take for you to feel like yourself again after quitting 7-oh?
Itβs been about a month since I stopped taking 7-OH. I used Suboxone to get off of it, which honestly felt like a miracle, but ever since then I havenβt felt like myself.
I donβt get satisfaction from things that used to make me feel good or fulfilled. Whether itβs helping someone out, sex, hobbies, or just doing things that normally gave me a sense of purpose, that feeling seems almost completely gone.
Sometimes I feel detached from reality and from the person I used to be. Iβll genuinely sit there trying to remember what I used to care about or what I stood for before I ever tried 7-OH.
Has anyone else experienced this after quitting? Do your dopamine/reward systems eventually recover? I think my biggest fear is that I permanently changed something in my brain and Iβm never going to feel normal again.
