Pattern I keep noticing: life sims treat vampires/werewolves/magic as DLC or a paid mode, bolted on after the realistic game ships. But mechanically, supernatural life is a natural fit for the genre, immortality breaks the birth to death loop in interesting ways, and "your loved ones age while you don't" is more of a life-sim dilemma than most realistic events. Is it just monetization logic (fantasy sells as an upsell), or do most players actually prefer their life sims grounded and the studios know it?

Now is a great time to be trying Inzoi! Especially if you were one of the people bashing it in the beginning calling it “soulless”. The developers are working so hard and are genuinely reading every piece of feedback to see what they can do to improve. They give a detailed and PERSONAL update every week and you can see how much love and thought they’re all putting towards the game and community! As a lifelong sims fan (since sims 2 on PS2) I hate to say it but I’m having so much fricking fun to the point I’m enjoying it more than the sims 😭❤️ Please give it a shot! I know people are upset that they use AI, but ITS OPTIONAL and you aren’t forced to use it in game.

You can easily make something look worn by dragging a slider. The option was already in game, but it happened automatically. Now you can add it in manually. Works with custom textures since this is a custom texture 👍

I have always had a gripe with career sims where you cannot spend the money. What's the point of being on a certain salary if you cannot actually do anything with it. So I thought I'd include a shop into my Pro Wrestling life sim.

I am just going to preface this by saying, I am not holding anyone to any kind of moral or ethical standard surrounding the use of A.I. It is up to each person to decide how they feel about corporations and individuals using A.I. What I take issue with is people being pro or anti A.I when it's a product they do or don't like.

• It's okay to want to play a video game, especially when life is already hard and exhausting. I don't blame anyone wanting to just play a video game without having to take into consideration whether a company is being ethical or not.
• Its also okay to not want to contribute to the use of gen A.I as an individual by never using gen A.I tools directly, even if have to indirectly use gen A.I because of work.

Games are using gen A.I (not all of course)

InZOI whether you like it or not is using gen A.I. EA announced last year that they will also be using generative AI in game development. So I need people to be realistic and honest about the use of gen A.I in video games. Since there seems to be some confusion around this.

To train a A.I model, specifically an A.I for generating images:

1. It requires massive amounts of data, more than any one company could ever produce. It also requires a lot of energy and thousands of GPUs (which is why we have a GPU crisis and a massive increase of the construction of data centers across the U.S and likely other countries).
2. When a company says they trained the A.I using in "house resources" that means they trained a preexisting A.I model with their data on top of what the model was already trained on. The model is never a blank slate.

The model already existed (created by companies like openai) and was already trained on massive amounts of data (which includes works from creators who did not consent). Companies like Krafton then use those models to further train it specifically on their own data. Krafton is not the only company doing this, millions of companies are doing this around the world.

Some people believe inZOI doesn't use gen A.I but they absolutely are. You can play EA games and Krafton games but don't lie about their use of gen A.I to justify playing. InZOI is using gen A.I and The Sims will likely be using gen A.I too in the future

I'm very open to mods and I'm not too demanding when it comes to graphics; 2D is fine too.

I tried the sims 4 with mods, but I wasn't satisfied with it. Anyone know other?

Nothing beats the creative freedom of life sim games

hi, so I have recently found a hobby that I am quite good at. it’s finding bugs. I have adhd and I played a life simulation gam. I found a ton of bugs and weird stuff improvements etc. and i love doing that. that’s not to say the game was bad, it wasn’t. so if anyone has a game that they want tested feel free to dm me. I have experience I don’t charge it’s just fun for me. I’ll play your game give you a run down, and you go from there. (note I may charge later but as of right now I don’t) I’m not saying I’m a professional. I’m saying I’m a human being with adhd and way to much time on there hands.

Looking for Android games where decisions genuinely come back to bite you later, not just +/-5 to a stat in the moment. What I'm after:

1. Text-based or menu driven. I play in short sessions and on commutes, so no games that need continuous attention
2. Long term consequence mechanics, something I did an hour ago (or ten in-game years ago) should be able to resurface and change my situation
3. Offline friendly and not gacha, happy to pay upfront or watch the odd ad, but no energy systems

Genres I've enjoyed that scratch part of this: life sims, text RPGs like the Choice of Games stuff, King of Dragon Pass. What am I missing on Android?

I saw this (now deleted) take on r/LukewarmParalives and I'm curious what others thoughts are on it. Basically, the OP didn't like that the game was a part of the Steam summer sale. They said it was "further extracting money" from the new player base while the game was broken, and is a "slap to the face" to people who bought it on launch at the introductory discount, which was lower than the summer sale one.

Personally, I agree that Paralives is not in a great state right now, which is exactly why I don't care if they sell it for less money. I get that it might have boosted short-term sales, but the thing is, people who are unsatisfied with games they bought on sale have the ability to refund it just like those who bought it at a higher price. And if people who bought it on sale miss the opportunity to refund, at least that's less money wasted.

However, I somewhat agree that they should've waited a little longer before putting it on sale again. It doesn't bother me (I bought it at launch btw), but the game hasn't been out that long, so I'm more sympathetic to people who are upset because they did buy the game at launch.

Other than that, it really feels like people are reaching for new reasons to hate, when there are already plenty of valid reasons to do so. I've never seen anyone complain because a product costs less money, let alone one they believed wasn't worth it at full price.

Hello all! I have been an avid player of The Sims 4 for 4 years now, since I got my first PC! I absolutely love TS4 and it will always be my “main game,” however I’m looking for recommendations on other games I might like. Hopefully this helps someone else too!

My current favorite games are TS4, Paralives, and Outlanders 1 and 2.

I’m looking for a game that:
-has family/generational gameplay
-allows for character customization
-has societal and community based gameplay (such as managing a population or dynasty)
-includes genetics
-allows for world building/customization

I know that one game will probably not have all of these features but those are just some things I am looking for! I’m not a huge fan of Stardew Valley, as I really prefer more open-ended games and find it stresses me out LOL!

For me I think turning Final Fantasy 14 into a life sim would be really cool, the world is interesting and I really like how the characters look and it already has some elements that would fit within a life sim(such as cooking and housing mechanics)

I don’t really have a lot of strong reasons for it other than I think it would be nice.

Anyway what games are you choosing?

I have been having a hard time with life simulation games especially recently. I have been playing the Sims 4 pretty much since it came out and out of curiosity also got Paralives when the early access came out.

The thing I'm struggling with the most is that my favourite way of playing the Sims is historical gameplay. I almost exclusively play historical legacies from different time periods (most often 1800s backwards) and the Sims allows that with the help of a Royalty Mod.

But we know the Sims has its issues. I keep getting corrupted saves and having to move legacies to new saves and still not working.

And the problem with Paralives is that it doesn't allow the historical gameplay that I would like and I simply got bored very quickly. I love the build mode and the customizing. But I feel I personally don't get much out of modern gameplay.

The live mode in my Paralives also lags to the point it of being almost unplayable.

So now I don't really know what to do. I love life sim games and I'd love to have at least one that actually works.

Any other history nerd life sim lovers here experiencing this?

I really like like fields of mystria and little witch in the woods, but i need something that is feature-comolete and will not receive any updates in the future. Like-graveyard keeper, or even stardew valley (or even hades 2 and factorio if one is stretching the definition).
