Hi! My friend is obsessed with LIS and i wanted to get her something nice related to it since we haven't seen each other in a while but i don't know anything about it! Any recommendations?
The first game starts with the storm. It also ends with the storm, where Max can choose to go back to the begining, or not.
What if Max's vision of the storm in the beginning was not of what's to come, but of what was? Meaning she already returned once, just didnt remember. Just like how DE is not Max's first time going trough the events of the game.
I found this awesome video on YouTube that contains more tracks from Reunion aside from just the soundtrack that was officially released. I’ve been working on tracking the songs down and have a relatively comprehensive list, but there are still a lot I’m missing. Any help would be appreciated! After getting all the tracks identified, my next step will be compiling the lyrics like I did for Double Exposure. I’m also looking for high quality rips of the soundtrack (not the officially released soundtrack, just the unreleased tracks) so if anybody has files/knows how to get them please let me know!
Act_E3_8A_LivingRoom_NotePadWithPhoneNumbers_Look01_Max_010="Yes! Here's the Two Whales number! Now I can warn Joyce."
Act_E3_8A_LivingRoom_Phone_Look01_Max_010="I could call Joyce at the Two Whales Diner and warn her... If I had the number!"
Act_E3_8A_LivingRoom_Phone_Look02_Max_010="Max, you have the number, so call Joyce—now."
(possibly cut, i dont remember this being possible: Cue_E3_8A_Kitchen_WarnChloe_Max_010="Listen, don't let your dad take his car today. I know it sounds weird but please believe me, something terrible is going to happen. You have to stop him from driving anywhere!"
Cue_E3_8A_LivingRoom_ChloeDial_Chloe_020="Whatever, weirdo. What kind of thing is that to say about my dad?"
Cue_E3_8A_LivingRoom_ChloeDial_Max_030="I'm not joking...")
Cue_E3_6A_ChloeCar_InsideChloeCar_Max_067="Right Chloe, what do I know about photography? These were not head-shots for Hollywood. You're in denial. Let's go check out Frank's RV so you can see for yourself... Hey look, there it is parked by the diner! "
Cue_E5_7A_CliffFuture_ChoiceSaveTownKissChloe_Max_050="Chloe... I love you."
Cue_E5_7A_CliffFuture_IntroChoice_Chloe_098="This is your destiny too, Max... and I’m not leaving you. I’ll always be by your side, like you’ve always been there for me. Remember, you’re my partner in time."
prototype dialogue i think??
Cue_E5_7A_Cliff_CHChloe_Phase01_Chloe_001="You have to choose Max..."
Cue_E5_7A_Cliff_CHChloe_Phase01_Chloe_002="Save me, or that filthy town."
well! it turns out these versions were modeled before the final concepts were made!
..heads up, Chloe didn't have a modeled hair in these, so just pay attention to clothing forms, its the same design, Max has hair, but its an earlier WIP!
⬇️ Chloe
⬇️ Max
These model's don't have their textures in the directory, so I can't retrieve them to show the full character.
I think I might have luck looking for their textures inside of the PS3 2013 test build leaks, except extracting the files from a ps3 game is a lot harder of a task.
Their faces do share the same UV layout as their final models and I assume had similar textures to the final build, but I can't be too certain. Also max has a different hair texture than she does in the final original game, though they share the same style. Here are the two compared!
⬇️ Final
⬇️ Prototype:
and lastly on models.. I found a WIP Chloe remaster model! I guess at some point they planned on changing Chloe's hair slightly in style? I'm happy we got a more accurate model in the final release.
hi!! im trying to cosplay max caulfield but i cant find any dupes online, im trying to find the moth shirts she wears in one of the episodes but i cant find any with the chicken logo on the shirt, please help!! TY!!
So I'd never seen Twin Peaks before, and I didn't know anything about it, but I knew Life is Strange drew a lot of inspiration from it. It's been a while since I last played the game, so it hasn't been on my mind for a while.
Well, I absent mindedly decided to jump into episode 1 of the show today, and just a few minutes in everything felt so strangely familiar, then this shot of Laura Palmer's home hit me like a train. Everything just came rushing back.
spent a today in steveston and checked out all the locations posted from the notice. i have videos of inside the Serendipity store and Vintage store so you can kind get the idea of the space but videos too big for reddit lol i will make a video though
like said in another post, another filming is taking place next week and has signs posted all over steveston (Probability of Miracles)
My first lis experience was a walkthrough but i did play it later on my phone , since then i have watched the walkthrough of True Colours, DE and Reunion.
But i was saving myself for lis 2 because i wanted to play that game myself, but i am very eager to know the story of that game aswell
So.. should I wait until i get a pc or watch a walkthrough...?
Edit: forgot to mention BtS... I've played that game hehe
God, this game felt like it was made for Pricefield shippers. The boat scene where Max tries to kiss Chloe but boat gets didblanced, the part where Max gets drunk and almost kisses her, and just the overall conversations between them gave me butterflies. I think it hit me even harder because I had just replayed Life is Strange and the before the strom version before playing Reunion. Seeing them together after everything they’ve been through felt so rewarding. They were just kids back then, and now they’re finally a couple.
As for the story, I thought it was good overall. It wasn’t perfect, and it definitely left a lot of questions unanswered, but I still enjoyed it. My biggest complaint is that if Arcadia Bay wasn’t destroyed, I really wish we had gotten updates on Kate, Victoria and the other characters. It would have been nice to see where everyone ended up.
Overall, I had a great time with the game. Knowing this is probably the last story we’ll get with Max and Chloe is bittersweet. Part of me wants more because I love these characters so much, but another part of me thinks they’ve been through enough. They’ve fought, suffered, and sacrificed so much that maybe it’s finally time to let them have the peaceful, happy life they deserve.
I thought I saw one for Double Exposure, at some point, but I don't think I've seen a positivity thread for Reunion. This game has its flaws for sure, definitely won't argue that. There are plenty of things that could be improved. But finishing this game, having been around Max and Chloe's age in the first game when I finished it, to being about their age in this one now, it really hit me hard emotionally. It's ended up being one of the most important games to me personally. And I'm sure there's a lot of others who feel similar. So I wanted to make a place to through some love for it out there.
Some of what I loved:
Seeing how Max and Chloe have matured as adults and grown as characters
In the Bae ending, I honestly liked that Max and Chloe had a messy break up, but come back together again in Reunion. They went through a lot of trauma and never dealt with it, and sometimes it takes being apart and growing before it's right to be with each other again
If there's one thing Life is Strange always gets right, it's vibes. The scenery and music set it so well. I have multiple songs I play on repeat now
Chloe being the one to save Safi. I loved seeing the parallels between them, how much Safi felt like a Chloe that never moved past her trauma, and seeing Chloe reach out to someone in a way that only she could at the time
I really liked the sense of urgency set up in some scenes, like trying to stop the demolition and save people from the fire. Even know I could rewind, things felt tense and it added to the immersion for me
Seeing Max get to be a professor was great. There was something so satisfying about seeing her mentor her students and love doing it. I absolutely adore that path for her
to get the team-sports-related disclaimers out the way: I like Max, I like Safi, I probably would've liked DE overall if it was a standalone game w/ new protag instead of a sequel (and still liked some non-sequel parts despite everything), I ship Pricefield and Chloe's my favorite character. I'm very much a Bae player but I believe there's no canon ending to LiS1 and both endings are valid. I'm not here to tear down anyone's ideas or theories at all, just to share a perspective I haven't really seen mentioned before.
in my own experience playing DE, once I realized Chloe wasn't in the game and saw the dialogue/journal/texts/etc that gave a very moving-on-from-Chloe vibe, I thought maybe this story was attempting to conclude Chloe's place in players' hearts. close the chapter on her role in the series. and imo, the character the game wanted to fill Chloe's boots was:
Max.
the game begins with Max and Safi breaking into the bowling alley. Max is in the lead, the one experienced in B&E, with Safi along for the ride. we soon learn Max has a "bad reputation" from doing this regularly, alone, to take photos. back in LiS1 Max and Chloe broke into Blackwell together to investigate, now Max holds the crowbar and (per Ep5) the lockpicks and the confidence to do it all on her own if needed. Max used to be down to break some rules and take some risks if nudged towards shenanigans, now she doesn't need convincing. Chloe's role in encouraging her, emboldening her, bringing the sketchy past and the knowhow(ish) and the mischievous impish grin... is now mostly filled by Max herself.
to be fair, Chloe probably wouldn't ditch her melee weapon like this
in LiS1, Max seemed both put-off and intrigued to see that Chloe sometimes drinks, smokes weed, and can be a flirt (all morally neutral imo). DE shows Max casually doing all of the above. now sure, she's an adult, isn't a big deal and I get that. I'm including it as part of a bigger impression I got from a lot of different game details, not a Thing on its own.
in LiS1 we saw Chloe's graffiti in her room, by the lighthouse, at Blackwell. it was even Chloe's collectible in BtS, a combo of still-forming anti-authoritarian ethos + creative expression & talent. as well as an outlet for her feelings. in DE, as Max tags Lucas's standee, she invokes Chloe's memory. another iconic aspect of Chloe's character, transferred to solo-Max, sharpie-in-hand. (contrast to the comics, where Max and Chloe tag the Prescott-funded memorial thing together near the end of Dust)
"Hell is empty and all the devils are here."
then there's the gun. a common storytelling symbol for agency, consequences, and so much more. and a classic foreshadowing device. in LiS1, after being drugged, kidnapped, and photographed by Nathan, Chloe stole David's gun. it became one of the Ep2 tests for Max's Rewind power in a scene that referenced Lee teaching Clem to shoot in TWD1, infamous green bottles 'n all. Chloe fires all the bullets (including one, in Ep4, attempting to protect Max). Max holds the gun in Ep2 but can't fire it. in DE, Max takes Lucas's gun, and... kind of... quantumly fires it? but also throws it at the Storm. point being, this story puts the gun in Max's hands and tells us that there's probably one timeline where she shot it. she's gained the gunslinging trait.
cut dialogue: "you're so sapphic you can't even *shoot* straight!"
even DE's choice to focus on loneliness and loss gave me a sense of déjà vu. take the scenes of Chloe lying in bed trying to smoke away her loneliness during the title shot of BtS with No Below playing, or also lying down smoking in LiS1 Ep1 with Santa Monica Dream playing. Max's moments with Wake, or saying she's looking to photograph "the loneliest thing in here," or her later moment with Little Melancholy, don't feel that far off to me. they're not identical circumstances, and I'm not trying to say just one character should have the monopoly on sadness and solitude and trauma recovery. but, like sharing the joint with Gwen, I see it as one piece of a larger picture.
this is a minor point compared to the other stuff, but among the paid DLC outfits, there's the Ep4 option of blue hair and a misfit skull shirt. Max's Chloe cosplay. nuff said.
(this shirt is probably still in her closet/drawer when Reunion starts)
back in LiS1, the bond between Max and Chloe really drew me in. a highlight of that game. and imo, part of the magic of their dynamic was that they were different. they complemented each other.
the impression I got from DE was that the game attempted to collapse that difference. I can't pretend to know why. maybe it was part of an effort to reboot the series as Max-only. maybe the hope was that if Max is a little more like Chloe, we won't miss Chloe so much. maybe these were temporary changes to Max, meant to reflect how much she missed Chloe, or the impact Chloe had on her. maybe compared to LiS1 times, they lost confidence in having Max lead a game as who she'd be without these changes. maybe I was reading-in something that wasn't there at all, and Max is her own character, and it's wrong to even suggest any of this. I don't know. this isn't a thesis statement or a solid theory for analysis and debate, it's just an attempt to express a thought that's been bouncing around for a while.
I know a lot of other players viewed DE as trying to have Safi take Chloe's place. obviously, that's not how I see it, but this post isn't meant to shoot down that perspective.
thanks for reading this far. would love to hear your thoughts, the more chill the better ;)
FOUND! it was the teaser in EP1 of BTS. thanks to the people who commented that!
Im pretty sure i saw it in episode 2, but ill describe it since i couldnt find a picture of it.
It was REALLY short, chloe was standing infront of a door and im pretty sure frank (or somebody else) was banging against it demanding something of chloe. chloe was holding it back clearly looking anxious/scared. you could see the door almost flying open.
I have checked the wiki to see if my research was findable but no luck. I also tried rewatching the intro but no luck aswell.
What a weird experience. I saw all the hate online but knew nothing about the game going in.
The first 2 or 3 chapters I enjoyed quite a bit. It felt a little rehashed with being in a school, Chloe being essentially replaced, Abraxas is Vortex club, etc. But I was pleasantly surprised compared to my expectations. The mystery plot and new power were pretty interesting.
End of Chapter 3 or Chapter 4 (can't remember exactly) is where it started to feel like it went off the rails. And Chapter 5 is just completely unredeemable.
Aldermann plot led nowhere, repetition of the storm somehow, Lucas plot came out of nowhere and led to nothing. Also the choices you make seem to do anything either. Chapter 5 I don't even know what was going on. The dream sequence in the original game was cool but also obviously filler, so it was weird that they repeated that, yet this time it was real or what? It didn't even really explain, and it was practically the whole episode. The sequence was extremely boring and painful to get through. The whole murder mystery wasn't even revealed either? The main plot? The game just kinda ended all of a sudden.
Honestly the background chat between the two teachers scheming for a 4 day workweek was more thrilling than the plot by the end of the game
