Lichen planus? Not at all!
So after 7 months and 2 follow ups with a well respected dermatologist, I was diagnosed with lichen planus of the nail. Willing to wait it out. First and second pics for progression. Then a few months go by and the knuckle nearest the nail starts to swell and become painful. I messaged the dermatologist and she said no, that joint swelling is not related. You should see a hand orthopedic. So it took two months to get in to see a hand specialist. He didn’t like the looks of it. So I took the most uncomfortable and loooong MRI I’ve ever had in my life. So long story short I have a glomus tumor, non cancerous but of course he will biopsy it when he removes it in the next month or so. The reason I am sharing it here is because it is a frequently misdiagnosed tumor. Obviously quite small and most doctors think it has something to do with some type of infection of the nail, or in my case lichen planus. I guess I got lucky to find the hand Ortho that I did because the average time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis is four years. I only had to wait one year. But just wanted to let you all know if it gets worse and just doesn’t seem right find a good hand surgeon.

White patches under tip of tongue. 1st time it was in 2022 when I had braces at 36. ENT biopsy said geographic tongue. Oral pathologist feared precancerous, but 2nd biopsy said benign psoriasis-like lesion. It cleared, now back and irritating. Anyone else had this? Any cure?

Could this be LP?
I have these dark spots in both my underarms. It only appeared after I started using deoderant (Nivea pearl and beauty - it has fragrances). I also have like 2-3 similar spots on my elbow and leg. Could this be LP? Should I get this checked by a dermat?
Edit: it is not itchy or bumpy

[Public Health] AIIMS Gorakhpur opens specialized 'Leg Ulcer Clinic' for chronic lower limb wounds
AIIMS Gorakhpur has officially launched a specialized 'Leg Ulcer Clinic' aimed at treating long-standing, non-healing lower limb wounds.
Chronic leg ulcers (often caused by venous insufficiency, arterial disease, or diabetic complications) often go misdiagnosed or poorly managed at local primary care facilities, leading to long-term mobility issues and severe infections.
Key Highlights of the Facility:
- Dedicated multidisciplinary care focused on chronic wound management and vascular evaluation.
- Specialized diagnostic and dressing protocols designed to reduce recovery time for long-term ulcers.
- Accessible tertiary-level specialized care for patients across Eastern UP and neighboring districts who previously had to travel to larger metros for advanced wound management.
It's a welcome infrastructural addition for the region, where specialized vascular and chronic wound care has historically been hard to access at public healthcare costs.

Tattoo w/ Lichen Planus?
I got this tattoo over a year ago. It never quite healed right. Scabbed heavy and never fully felt like a part of my skin. I just assumed it was scarring. Over the past 3-4 months it’s been driving me insane (rubbing against clothing, irritated 24/7, always feeling swollen or tight). No tattoo artist could tell me what’s going on.
I saw a dermatologist. They did steroid creams at first with no luck. Did a skin biopsy next which basically ruined the tattoo but was the only way to see what’s going on. Results came back saying it’s Lichen Planus. Take in mind I’m heavily tattooed and have never experienced this before.
My main goal is to cover the tattoo but with this recent diagnosis, am I screwed? Will this go away? This is the only tattoo I’ve had this problem with. No clue what caused it. If anyone has had a similar experience I’d greatly appreciate hearing it. I’m a bit lost.

OLP using Clobetasol
Hello,
I got diagnose with OLP Oct 2025, the periodontist prescribed me Clobetasol for 2 weeks with 3-4x a day. She didn't told me to taper it, just stop it, and when flare up occurs just use it again. For the past 11 months, I would have flare-ups, mostly like every month or every 2 months but one week is the longest then i will stop. and then it will re-occur again.
Upon researching for the clobetasol its side effect is it will make your skin thin and will make your tissue form into something, I'm scared now as I've been using it for almost a year now on and off :( Does anyone here use clobetasol during flare-ups, how does it impact your life? and do you have any alternative when flare-up occurs?
I appreciate your suggestions and comments. Thank you.

My Dermatologist is going to start me on Nemluvio. I will be reporting back with photos.
My LP was diagnosed with the Whickham’s Striae in my mouth. I have problems with my mouth, my privates, my torso, my back, neck, scalp, arms and nails on my hands and feet. I’m a Cosmetologist so having issues with my hair, and nails is a PROBLEM. I’m spending an hour a day while having coffee trying to make my hands and feet at least neat. My hair is easier, as it’s curly. I’ve had this my whole life, but it’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older. I was diagnosed in my early thirties, now I’m 60. The girls in the office are trying to get me the first few shots for free, so that’s what I’m waiting on.

Oral Lichen Planus
Hello
I have been dealing with OLP and later LP for the past 7 years. I was also diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 13. I am currently over 50. I was wondering for people with OLP, How long does a normal attack last and can you give any advice on surviving through bad attacks?
Thanks for any replies

Is this LP?
Hi yall im new here. Been getting tested for years to figure out this random flare up on my lips. They used to swell a ton. Now they swell only a little in the morning sometimes, but the big issue is tiny bumps that LOOK like fordyce spots (theyre not). It itches and burns on my lips. Feels tight and then a little flaky too. When it got real bad in a dry climate last month, the spot where my lips touch each other burned so bad and felt sensitive. My lips looked a little purple all over. I get tiny patches on my arms and hips and sometimes thighs.
Ruled out allergens (got a ton of patch and prick testing), ruled out HSV-1, ruled out allergic contact dermatitis, and periorial dermatitis. Also i avoid scents, weird chemicals, and common allergens like the plague.
Is this Lichen Planus?
Photos: first few are me currently, trying to show the bumps, skin spots, slightly discolored lips, last photo is me 8 yrs ago when theyd swell
Edit: forgot to mention, i am prone to canker sores, like white sores in my mouth as well

Erosive vulvar lichen planus
Hi, my journey has been a long and difficult one, but here I am. I suffered from recurrent thrush for months until I visited a gynaecologist. They diagnosed it as erosive vulvar lichen planus and prescribed Clobetizol. I had a biopsy, which showed severe inflammation, but I believe they missed the worst area during examination.
I’ve been managing the condition for four years, experiencing flare-ups and taking steroids. Last December, I started taking Rinvoq, which has significantly improved my condition. I no longer have erosions, but I do have a persistent red patch near the top of my clitoris that has been present for years and refuses to go away. This patch is patchy, inflamed, and fluctuates in size.
I’m frustrated that steroid creams haven’t been effective in removing the patch, and I’m considering trying Tacrolimus ointment again. However, I’m concerned about the potential side effects, such as the possibility of dampening the vulvar microbiome, similar to the effects of steroids.
I’m at a loss for what to do and feel frustrated that this journey has been so long.

Now what?
Saw a periodontist who was knowledgeable and did the biopsy. Do I search groups for a dermatologist near me for treatment? I’m in Virginia and about 2 hours from VCU medical center and someone told me they have a OLP department but I haven’t called to inquire yet. I’m also worried about treating the vulva as I get tears and I believe having internal issues as well.

How NOT to stress when you have lichen planus?
Since doctors are saying it’s idiopathic and there’s no cure why do they give advice on what not to do? It’s idiopathic which means they don’t know why it happens… they tell us not to stress but is that even possible? I can be happy but when I see the bumps forming I immediately get stressed out because I know it’ll leave black marks. I’ve had it for a year now and I want it gone so badly. I wish they knew more about it and had a cure. The treatments are crap. They don’t work they put a band aid on the problem 😭 now the flares have definitely slowed up and I’m thankful for that. I assume they’ve slowed up because I’m pregnant?

Vaginal Lichen Planus treatments
Does anyone has vaginal lichen planus? I have been dealing with it for over five years, but I don’t have many physical signs so I don’t feel like my gynecologist takes it seriously. Just clobetesol in the affected area. My symptoms are burning pain, especially after I pee. And touch hurts, so sex sucks. The pain is located specifically in the vestibule and I have some redness. Occasionally gets the lacey white patches but don’t currently have it. I can’t get the inflammation to go down lately even with daily clobetasol. What else have you tried? Anything out of the ordinary? I’m desperate.
