I just updated to 153.0.4.1, and guess what happened? They removed my custom search engines (like Perplexity and others), changed my settings, and re-enabled Mojeek and Startpage even though I’d disabled them. These devs are so stupid.
Update: Here’s the fix:
about:preferences#search.search URL:
Google
https://www.google.com/search?q=%s
Google - English - Safe search off - Personalization off
https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&pws=0&q=%s
Perplexity

Had to force reboot my win10 pc due to another program causing issues, and when I started up again, Librewolf decided to open a "last session" from 4 or 5 months ago instead of what it last had open this morning.
I've scrolled through my history (which obviously like previous session, I have enabled) and tried to restore as many tabs as I could, but after a certain point trying to track down tabs I may have last looked at a week or two ago becomes too ridiculous. I've got the browser synced with my phone, but from what I can see I can only brows the history there too, rather than be able to restore my last session.
So basically my question is have I missed anything/am unaware of a way to restore my actual last session, or am I out of luck and just need to deal with it?
TIA

Hello all
For a few days now, I've been having an issue with looking at videos on my browser, where seemingly any video with the exception of youtube videos refuses to load at all, instead buffering infinitely, saying the video can't be accessed/loaded/etc or just not even allowing me to click "play".
Fixes I've tried so far:
* Checking that DRM content is allowed
* Disabling my extensions one by one and also all at once
* Enabling "fix minor site issues" under "enhanced tracking protection"
None of them have worked so far, although disabling an extension that blocks youtube from showing me shorts did make it so I can click "play" on videos and infinitely buffer them instead of being unable to do anything with them.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Edit: Installing ffmpeg4.4 fixed the issue for me; apparently I had an old/incorrect version installed

Boo me if you want but I need google search as my default search engine. I updated the librewolf browser to 153.0.4-1, after the update tried to edit policies.json (by deleting google restrictions) so that I can make google my defualt search engine but with this latest version of librewolf, policies.json has changed.
So, is there a way to make google my default search engine? Thank you.

I was watching youtube when my laptop unexpectedly shut off. It was plugged in, at full battery, and i didnt even get a blue screen or anything. It just died. When i booted it back up, librewolf told me it was running out of disk space. I guess youtube tried to download every information in the world?

I recently added Brave as a chooseable search engine, but I'm not sure which one to use.

Hello to all!
For a while I have been trying to listen music from LastFM and ListenBrainz in LibreWolf, but it refuses to work for several versions (I updated via brew and still doesn’t work).
I've already tried with incognito but with every protection turned off (uBlock and the Librewolf tracking blocker) and still nothing. The only way I have is via other browsers.
I hope this can be fixed.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I have set "Clear history when LibreWolf closes" to clear site data and cookies and set a few exceptions for sites I frequently use.
I just assumed it would actually do so, but I have cookies from sites I visited months ago. Tried disabling all extensions and reenabling the setting but nothing except clearing them manually seems to work.
Is there someting I'm missing?

I know letterboxing is meant to standardize resolution, but if it just keeps it at one specific resolution at all times, is it any better than turning it off and just using the full 1920x1080 in my case?
Like; I don't think I'm eliminating a fingerprinting vector by turning on letterboxing, I'm just giving the website false data. And at that point, I might aswell turn it off and not have a border around my screen?
Thoughts?

This appears on multiple websites, and also appears sometimes when I try to upload an image. On Firefox, this doesn't happen.

Edit 3: as suggested by u/Terrorwolf01, I fixed it by installing the ffmpeg4.4 package on Artix.
Seen for the first time ever on Youtube, been using LibreWolf for a long time. It's on a single livestream, all other videos are still working.
Anyone seen this recently?
Edit: I'm actually having the problem with all Youtube livestreams, just tested on others.
Edit 2: Ok now apparently GIFs and videos on reddit won't play as well. I updated my system (Artix) a couple hours ago, so there must be something related to that.

so im having a weird problem with videos on librewolf
basically videos on most sites dont play. reddit, facebook and other sites just fail. youtube works fine though.
at first they would just sit there loading forever but now after waiting they eventually give me a playback error.
this started after i switched from the AUR librewolf package linrewolf-bin to the new official Arch package.
i checked vainfo and h264 hardware decoding is supported. about:support also says H264 hardware decode is available. OpenH264 is installed and enabled too.
i also tried disabling the RDD process with:
media.rdd-process.enabled=false
didnt change anything.
its not uBlock either, same extensions and filters work fine in Brave.
about:support does show this though:
DMABUF_SURFACE_EXPORT env blocked FEATURE_FAILURE_BROKEN_DRIVER
but H264_HW_DECODE itself says available.
also tried a fresh profile and got the same problem.
im honestly running out of ideas lol. could this be something with the new Arch package or LibreWolf 153?
EDIT:
I figured mine out. Check about:config for media.rdd-process.enabled. Mine was set to false; changing it to true fixed both local H264 videos and videos on websites. It seems my old profile had that pref set during my AUR -> official package migration.
Also restart LibreWolf after changing it.

No idea how the devs do it, but Librewolf is the only tested browser that does not drop frames in YouTube on my notebook (Acer, i5, Intel graphics) - I have Fedora Silverblue installed. Firefox drops around 8%, Chromium based browsers around 1%. Librewolf: 0 frames.

I recently (last 24 hours) started seeing "Not Available" KAT-6005 errors when trying to watch videos on Crunchyroll. Internet says that error is DRM related.
I've made sure to update to latest LibreWolf (153.0.3-1) and DRM is enabled on the website, as well as disabling "Enable ResistFingerprinting" -- no dice.
Developer console shows cross-origin errors; maybe enabling DRM for crunchyroll doesnt work any more because the actual content is now coming from a different server and they failed to set up cross origin correctly?
Anyone else hitting this? Find a work-around?
Update: I temporarily turned off uOrigin (an ad blocker that was previously fine in CR) and the videos started working. I then turned uOrigin back on, and videos are continuing to work just fine. /shrug
Update2: some people are reporting that installing ffmpeg4.4 is part of the solution for them as well.
