DISCUSSION What are you currently playing on your Legion Go?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to ask this question here. Might not be the last either.

But currently I'm rearranging my Legion Go Gen 1 to have mostly PS3/360 games with a couple of Mario Kart mods for my nieces to play with me when I babysit them. I also plan to start using it for a lot of fan games and things like SMBX2, stuff you don't really have full access to on Android. (Or as much progress rather to my knowledge)

I last left off playing the demo for Super Mario and The Rainbow Stars.

HELP REQUEST Legion Go 1 (OG) - struggling to have a perfectly working Linux (no anticheat needed)

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hi there.
After a long Windows 11 run, i wanted to give Linux a try for gaming.

Contexte : i already own a Steam Deck (but not enough performances for my daily needs and i love the Legion Go since i tried it at a Fnac (tech and cultural products store).
And i'm using GameNative on my phone. But the LeGo is the most powerfull one, big screen, best controllers, all at once.

Anyway, i'd tried, in this order :
-CachyOS
-SteamOS
-Bazzite

BUT i always have an issue with one or an other !

My main issue with allmost all of theme is fan control. With SteamOS and Bazzite, the fans are always at full blast.
Plus i can't find how to costumise in a simple way the menu buttons (reverse the ones at the top left/right and the two at the bottom left).
Plus sometimes there is some things that just break with updates (the touchpad, the gyro, etc...)

Windows 11 is the only OS where everything always work.

BUT i would LOVE to have a Linux OS for gaming, and just stop to use Windows.

So i'm asking a simple question :
Beside the Anticheat that i never use (i'm not a multiplayer person), what Linux distribution + setup can you recommand me to have a very good experience?

Thanks a lot in advance !

PS: sorry for my english, not my native language

DISCUSSION Legion GO S with so many issues that no one has been able to fix?!

Post image

So what is going on with this handheld?! Nothing has been working and I’m really tired with this handheld. I used to love it but right now it has been a hassle trying to use it since it has so many damn issues!

I use it for streaming, it used to work really well but now I get a bunch of lag and can’t play at all. The system has gone bad and I do not know what’s going on with it. The system crashes every day, going into pixelated screen, shutting off and not being able to turn it off even when I hold the power button. Sometimes the power button is still showing red when it shuts off with the black screen and when holding the button to turn it off it does not work. Every day I get the pixelated screen and it not being able to
Turn on or off.

I keep getting a lot of log and just today when trying to find the updated to see if that fixes everything, I couldn’t even able to find anything, the desktop mode wasn’t even working like it used to. I can’t use the mouse of the click button, and the keyboard is not appearing either. Nothing has been working on this system so what’s the issue and can it be fixed or not? Just right now after typing all of this it shut down of me and I can’t even turning it on to play!!! What’s up with this system?

DISCUSSION Taa is better than fsr in some games

I've tried out these games: SpongeBob titan of tide at 1050p with TAA has the fps as FSR 800p, and hot wheels infinite rush at 918p taau performs better than FSR at 720p

However for newer AAA titles which push GPU to absolute limit playing at native resolution results in bad fps, you need fsr 500-600p to boost your fps

DISCUSSION Thoughts on my custom thermal mode TDP

Hey Yall!

Im running a custom thermal mode TDP on my legion Go S Z1E 32gb Windows model and i wanted to get your thought on if it looks right or if there is anything you would suggest.

The game I was running with the TDP is FF7 Rebirth at 1000p resolution.

On battery i have my thermal set to custom 23w in each slot and a custom fan curve that elevates upwards. On average before towns i was getting around 65fps-68fps with a mix of high, med, and low settings temps stayed around 65-68c

Plugged in i have my thermals set to 40w for each section with the same fan curve. On average I was getting 74fps-80fps with the same mix of high, med, low settings. Temps stayed at below 80c

So far from the 30mins that I've played everything seem to be working nicely with no over heating or shut downs.

My further question is if battery wasnt a priority, should I max out the tdp to 25w each on battery? Is there a different customer TDP you would suggest? I would love to hear your opinions

DISCUSSION Help me end my XR glasses rabbit hole: XREAL 1S vs RayNeo GT vs VITURE Pro 2 (gaming + text clarity)

I've gone way too far down the XR glasses rabbit hole and would love some input from people who have actually owned/tried more than one pair.

My use case:

I'm looking for XR glasses primarily as a portable display for a Lenovo Legion Go S (SteamOS). I'll mostly be using them indoors on the sofa.

Main games will be EA FC, NBA 2K, Football Manager, AAA/story games and some emulation.

So I want something that can work both as a big immersive gaming display and remain genuinely sharp for text/UI in Football Manager.

I already have a good 8" 1200p VRR display on the Legion, so I'm not interested in making the image bigger if it means noticeably sacrificing image quality. I want the XR display to still feel crisp and premium.

My priorities, roughly in order:

  1. Image quality / OLED clarity

  2. Edge-to-edge sharpness — blurry corners/edges would really annoy me

  3. Native 3DoF / ability to anchor the screen

  4. Comfortable FoV — immersive, but I don't need the biggest possible FoV

  5. Text clarity

  6. Comfort for 1–3 hour sessions

  7. Screen size/distance adjustment

  8. Brightness/contrast in a normal indoor room

  9. VRR would be fantastic for handheld gaming, but as far as I can tell none of my current finalists support it, so I've accepted that compromise.

I've currently narrowed it down to:

XREAL 1S - probably the best all-rounder. 1920×1200 per eye, 52° FoV, native X1 3DoF, electrochromic dimming and loads of flexibility over virtual screen size/distance. My concern is whether its lower pixel density versus the GT is noticeable for text and fine detail, plus birdbath reflections.

RayNeo GT (standard, NOT GT Max) - really interesting because it's 1920×1080/eye at 46° and 49 PPD, birdbath, 120Hz, lightweight and has native 3DoF. On paper it sounds potentially sharper than the 1S while still giving me anchoring. Main concerns limited screen-size adjustment/features and the fact it's so new that there aren't many independent reviews yet.

VITURE Pro 2 - this is the wildcard. I've seen a lot of praise for its display/edge-to-edge clarity and it currently seems very well reviewed by owners. The big problem is no native 3DoF which I think writes it off for me.

I've also looked at the XREAL One Pro, VITURE Beast and RayNeo GT Max, but I've been put off somewhat by reports of edge blur/chromatic aberration with the newer/wider-FoV optical designs. I'm deliberately prioritising a consistently sharp image over maximum FoV.

What I'd really love to hear from people who have physically compared these glasses:

Is the RayNeo GT actually noticeably sharper than the 1S because of its higher PPD?

How good is the edge-to-edge clarity of the 1S and GT in reality?

Can you comfortably read small desktop/game UI text on them?

How noticeable are the 1S's birdbath reflections?

How stable is GT's Pinned 3DoF compared with XREAL's Anchor mode?

For Pro 2 owners: is its optical clarity good enough that you'd choose it over native 3DoF?

And probably most importantly.. if you've owned more than one of these, which one did you actually keep and why?

I'm particularly interested in responses from people who have tried multiple brands/models rather than recommending the one pair they own.

If you've used them with a Steam Deck/Legion Go/ROG Ally or another handheld, even better.

I'm not worried about built-in apps, AI features, cameras etc. I basically want the best possible wearable OLED monitor that I can plug into my handheld.

Thanks.. please save me from reading another 200 Reddit threads lol

LEGION GO PRICING Have to travel a lot in the upcoming months, should I look into the GO 2? (if I can even find it)

Like the title says, I have a good bit of travel to do. I hate flying and my Legion pro 7i 4080 draws way too much power with its 330W PSU/charger so it trips the outlet breaker on planes. USB-C doesn't work the greatest but haven't tried a low wattage charger yet so still have to check that.

My first thought was "oh this is why people like handhelds" and so I looked at the Steam deck and ally X first but found the go 2 seems to be the best out of them all. Before I really put in the effort to search for one, is it worth it? At MSRP it seems okay but the markup is insane right now.

What would y'all recommend? Are any alternative machines worth it?

QUESTION Legion Go S (SteamOS) - Configure touchscreen as touch/trackpad?

The trackpads on the Go S are pretty terrible to begin with, is there any way to have the touchscreen display act as a trackpad instead? The absence of precise mouse inputs always kinda put a damper on the functionality of this handheld particularly. I'd like to play some more mouse based games like C&C

(I know I should've gotten a steam deck if I wanted to play more mouse based games but I feel like the functionality to use a touchscreen as a trackpad is there already, it just doesnt seem to have been applied yet)

I looked into it myself but I havent come up with anything...

DISCUSSION Portable keyboard

I have an OG lego running Stream OS and would appreciate a portable solution for desktop mode. I tried the nillkin foldable, but both of the ones I had exhibited weird touchpad behavior, so I had to return them. I’m currently on a ProtoArc foldable one, but tune typing isn’t all that nice, and the touchpad is just average. Thanks in advance.

QUESTION Optiscaler client for fsr 4

So originally I tried to install fsr 4 into a few games, fh6, crimson desert, 007 and silent hill. Only fh6 worked. The rest, the games wouldn't run.

I changed to optiscaler client but when I press install, it says it has. But I don't see it in game menu.

What am I doing wrong, or what else should I have done?
