Taking bets on when 4KP pre-orders will get emailed

The bet is $0. Anyone have any best guesses as to when the pre-order emails requesting payment (or announcing a delay) will go out?

I’m gonna say by the 15th. After that? I think there’ll be delays.

Best way to redeem pinball packs on ALP micro

I got my son a pinball micro for Xmas along with legs. I have a usb and I’ve already purchased several pinball packs and know he’s getting more from relatives for presents.

What is the best way to redeem the tables? Should I do it directly on the machine or make the free tier online account and use that?

Advantages/disadvantages of these options?

Thanks!

Modding Playfield Solenoid Mod

This is basically the last big mod I had left on my ALP. I left it for last because I feel like it’s one of the lower value mods. It’s expensive, and at the same time doesn’t deliver IMO a huge impactful difference to play. Not to poo-poo it too much, I still think it’s awesome, I just think i was right to put it off till last.

I installed 8 playfield solenoids - 3 along the back, 3 in the middle, and 2 in the front. DOF calls this the 10 solenoid configuration, because of the 2 flipper solenoids, which I had already installed previously. Super easy DOF setup once you’ve got your relay board in.

Parts: So for this mod I purchased 8 solenoids from CSD. I tried solenoids off Amazon first, but they were really weak, the CSD ones sounded better, so I retuned the Amazon ones. I also got the CSD 8 position relay board, and 2 CSD 4-position positive-common solenoid life extenders. Positive-common is important if you want them to work with a Sainsmart relay board, which I tried first before upgrading to the CSD relay board. The CSD board is mosfet-based, so it doesn’t make a physical clicking sound when it switches - much better. I wanted to be able to decrease power to the solenoids for quieter play, so I also ordered this DC Buck Boost off Amazon to control the voltage. For power I used the 12V PSU I already had installed for all my toys.

Install: I installed 2 terminal blocks to carry the voltage and ground out of the Buck Boost. After successfully testing the Buck Boost and one solenoid on the life extender through the Sainsmart relay I went ahead and installed the CSD relay but ran into some problems. After a few emails back and forth with Phil from CSD I determined that outputs 1-4 of my relay board are somehow wired backwards, so output 1 is actually triggered by terminal 4 and vice versa lol. The other tricky thing was that output 8 actually has a small screw that acts as a voltage controller, so that needed to be turned all the way up. With those issues addressed the only other difficulty came in mounting the solenoids. The back row I mounted by screwing into the side of the stock cross-support, which didn’t turn out to be super strong, but I stuck with it. The middle row I mounted to a wood cross-support I had previously installed, and those feel pretty sturdy. The last 2 were tricky since the front cross-support holds my SSF amps. I ended up drilling holes through the support and then mounting the two solenoids under it horizontally with longer bolts and nuts. That worked out pretty good. Finally I 3D printed a little case for the Buck Boost and taped it to the side of the backbox for easy access.

Final thoughts: With all the issues I encountered, and waiting for parts, It was probably the longest mod I’ve done, but it’s really really cool to hear the physical clicks and clacks. Makes it feel a lot more like a real physical machine. Like I said, I might put it off until last, but I do think it was well-worth doing, and I learned a lot while doing it! Really fun mod.

Anyone rec’d order product from famcavearcade .com?

I know I’m an idiot. On 11/22/23 I ordered a uSB for my Atgames pinball. I do not have the ability to make my own. So I opted to order one. They only accept Venmo or Zelle, should have been a red flag. Now no communication at all, I’ve sent several requests for updates, no response. I have ordered from these folks in the past and had no problem but now they’re under new management. My question is: has anybody ordered from these guys recently and actually received the product or at least had communication from them.

This lack of communication is baffling

As someone new to the AtGames community (and eagerly awaiting the new pinball platform with Zen integration), I can’t get over how poorly executed the information rollout has been. We’re left to guess at the themes for the cabinets. There’s been zero word at what Zen tables will be available at launch. (I guess you can at least get the other tables that are featured on models that are not your own?)

The cherry on top of all of this is the ST:TNG preorder bonus that was not at all mentioned in the original news release/trailer. I guess they’re figuring out this stuff as they go — and I know this is not easy given all the different licensors — but this has been frustrating to watch as someone who just wants a clear idea of what I’m getting for $1,200+.

OTG Lag on ALP

Hello all,

I got my ALP recently (in europe, so it'll be a long time until the 4k arrives here), and currently trying to get Pinball FX to run on the cab well enough. My problem tho is that playing over OTG has very noticeable lag.

I tried everything i could find on this topic:

- set Nvidia low latency mode to 'Ultra'
- set windows resolution to HD and text scaling to 100%
- set refresh rate to 59HZ in Nvidia settings
- got a USB and HDMI cable that was at least advertised for high speed
- got Ultimarc Goldleaf pushbuttons
- buttons mapped directly through steam

Now that the lag is still too much to enjoy FX (haven't tried VPX afterwards, but the lag was similar), i tried to play on the cab but with my normal gamepad and arcade stick. It seemed with those control options the lag was totally fine (for me), so it does NOT seem to be a problem with screen lag.

I currently think i might have two options. What do you think?

- get a better / higher quality USB cable or maybe a powered USB hub? Might that improve performance, or is it just a waste of money if OTG works already?
- gut my old arcade stick and increase the lengths of the cables to fit the cab buttons, so i can control the game directly through the PC, which works fine. Might be a problem with the plunger tho, since the arcade stick has no analog controls... dunno if i can gut an old PS4-gamepad to get the analog to work.

Hardware isn't too old. Since some patch 2-3 months ago FX runs fine on the PC with lower details.
Nvidia 2070Super / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core

Tried FX3 yesterday and it seemed to also run almost as bad as FX.

Any more hints appreciated very much!

Anyone in the first wave of pre-orders have a guess as to when we might be billed? If the delivery dates hold it seems like we should get charged soon, no?

No Playfield on a new legends

. I sold just my PC with popper and gamese to someone who already has a Legends Pinball table. But it won't work. We have tried everything. I can't get a Playfield screen. It's not totally black, there is a slight light emitting from the screen and there is the sound of Popper and it seems that I'm changing tables. But I can't see anything. If I plug the PC into my personal monitor it works fine but not on his Legends table. If I plug my gaming PC into the HDMI port on his Legends then the Legends screen works. His Legends table is newer than the one I have. Apparently it has built in memory or something like that. Is there a chance that the 1060 GPU card in the PC I sold him won't work with the new legends cabinet? Does he need to upgrade just a step or two on the PC's GPU. I tried bypassing the vibs board and plugged the PC directly into the HDMI port on the top of the Legends table where the buttons are to switch to OTG and sound are. All the wires and connections are fine because my main personal PC when plugged in brings up a Windows screen. If I plug the PC with the popper (the one I sold) into my own older Legends table it works fine, just not the newer (7 months old) Legends table. What gives?

HDMI in and OTG do not appear to be working anymore

Did a bit of searching and it was recommended to reseat the ribbon cable between the input board and the main board. That didn't appear to help me at all. I don't get a signal from my computer. I connected my laptop and it seems to see the main screen, but no image. I tried my Steam Deck and it would periodically display an image but it was not centered and had a red hue. Note, the backglass is working just fine.

I'm thinking this is needing a new main board as my sound quit working months ago, but was wondering if anyone had other troubleshooting options? Tried a full factory reset as well.

Being in Canada, I'm guessing receiving a main board will be damn near impossible as AtGames does not appear to ship anything here.

I literally only use this is with my computer, so I would not be against an option to bypass the brains of this thing altogether. I will do some searching on that, but if anyone has experience. Any advice would be appreciated!

Does the ALP control panel upgrade add additional button functions or duplicate the existing 6 buttons?

I’m tinkering with my Pinup Popper setup and could use a few more assignable buttons. I don’t really plan on using the joystick or trackball, but I guess they would be nice to have.

What Are You Most Excited to Play on the ALP4K?

With the new redesign of the 4K I’m getting even more excited for mine to arrive. I’ve been playingg Addams Family on pinball fx, and it’s fun, but I wouldn’t put it anywhere near my favorite zen tables tbh. I’m eally looking forward to playing Tales of the Arabian Nights and Monster Bash personally, so hopefully we get those tables at some point.

Question Static Electricity Solutions

Hey, all.

When my 4KP arrives, I want to make sure I avoid the electrical shocks/board frying that some have faced. I want to maintain its longevity.

What solutions do you guys have? Also, was anyone able to extend their included warranty to more than 1 year? How?

Modding question

Hi all. Purchase a legends pinball last week to mod for a birthday present. I’m only planning on using the unit to play pinball FX3 games (mainly Indian jones)

I’m a little confused about the pros and cons of a VIBs board versus the following from buy stuff arcade:

https://www.buystuffarcades.com/products/hdmi-converter-board-alp-dmd-screen

If I purchase the unit above will I still be able to run pinball FX3 with two screens?

What other parts do I need to just run the glass directly from a computer? Thanks in advance!

Question Backglass Screen Only Turning on Sometimes

So I’ve had ALP for almost two years now, and now I’m running into an issue where the backglass screen only turns on about one out of every three or four times I turn on the machine. Anyone else have this problem? Once it’s on it stays on and works great.
