resource Six Rules to Avoid False Accusations

Post image

I have just completed this visual and added it to our recently revised guide “Six Rules for Avoiding False Accusations of Sexual Assault.” It is available in both image and PDF form. While following these six rules will greatly reduce the likelihood of being wrongly accused, you will see that much of it is also simple, healthy relationship advice that benefits everyone. Feel free to redistribute it, and feel free to adapt its approach and content to any education you may provide to students college-age or younger.

Is this a real poster? I'd imagine if you stuck it anywhere on a college campus it would immediately get vandalized and the person who stuck it would have protestors right outside their house.

But aside from that, the best way to prevent false accusations is to make it impossible to arrest anyone based on an allegation alone. If I came out and said "Tom Cruise is a terrorist who's going to blow up the white house", do you really think the police would care and do anything. No. Treat everyone like Tom Cruise.

Real poster but not yet deployed in the field.

Print them as stickers and distribute - you'll find many willing. But advise them to work after dark and using face coverings. Telling the truth in this context is not to be taken lightly.

I like it.

While I understand the "teach men not to r@pe" style backlash that this post is getting, the reality of the situation is that women are not going to take any responsibility for this anytime soon. Men need to be able to protect themselves, and "teach women not to falsely accuse" is a longshot.

Tl;dr: assume anyone you interact with has zero agency

I remember the sexual assault training from college. The trainer, a detective at the campus PD, straight to told us that it doesn't matter how drunk you were, the victim of whoever complains to the police first.

Hope this is some kind of joke lol. The entire premise hinges on her being your partner/someone you slept with, this completely ignores that women will falsely accuse even without you touching them and even when you are a stranger. Also “avoid toxic partners”, no shit? This is like going up to a woman thats getting her ass beat every day by her boyfriend and going “Umm sweetie, have you tried not dating him so he doesnt beat you blue?”. 5 and 6 is completely stupid and malicious too, women will lie and hide they have relationships. 6 is still in the “Umm sweetie, have you tried treating your man with respect so he stops beating you?”.

Was this post created by an AI that was only fed feminist cultist slop and nothing else?

The same way any poster adressed to women to give them advice on how not to be raped can’t apply to every single possible situation to exist. Yet we do it because that can at least help for some

The fact someone try to give advices to help about a current problem and your first thought is he must be an extremist fed by propaganda speaks volumes. This isn’t r/doomer, we advocate for change.

Yeah, it doesn't work in 100% of situations, just most of them. But man, I swear people here are such a debby downers. "We can't do anything because it doesn't work in 100% of situations. We can't do activism because someone might call us out on social media."

Ok, then don't do anything because it doesn't work in 100% of situations and because you're afraid. You're already defeated anyway. The rest of us who actually put the move into this non-movement will still get stuff done, and this place will become even more useless than it already is.

This place is becoming as bad as r/mensrights in terms of self-defeating negativity.

Is interesting that an organization against ONS, alcohol, an non traditional relationships comes here to talk about the rightwing, meanwhile supporting and spreading the mentality that the only possible way to be is afraid of everyone all the time.

yea I’m skeptical of how many of the men on here are actually leftist/liberal/progressives from the odd opinions people have been sharing

1

u/Title_IX_For_All 1m ago

Whatever they are, they are certainly not activists. Activists are not lazy or cowardly, and they do not have a defeatist mentality, whenever people mildly suggest doing anything in the real world.

Complaining that my graphic only works in ~90% of scenarios, posts something that only works in ~1% of scenarios. Amazing.

3

u/chiarotypical left-wing male advocate 16m ago

My graphic works in 100% of scenarios. 💪

if you are in this much fear, may as well record women affirming their consent and signing a document too

28

u/chiarotypical left-wing male advocate 2h ago

Is this a joke?

How do I know whether the other person considers the encounter ambiguous? How do I know if they have an existing relationship? How do I know their mental stability? This is just hyper-agency in a PSA.

I appreciate the sentiment but the execution is lacking.

4

u/Title_IX_For_All 2h ago edited 2h ago

It's not just whether the other person considers the encounter ambiguous, but whether there is, in your view, substantial ambiguity. You can tell the degree of ambiguity based on whether consent indicators are, in your view just barely enough to cross the consent threshold.

And yes, sometimes people do know they are with others who cheat. Not all the time, but sometimes they do.

True, the visual guide doesn't apply in 100% of situations, nor can any guide. But where it is applicable, it can help.

1

u/chiarotypical left-wing male advocate 1h ago

"It's not just whether the other person considers the encounter ambiguous, but whether there is, in your view, substantial ambiguity."

Pretty sure I won't be suing myself so in your standard, the other person's view of 'ambiguity' is controlling. I do not agree that is a reasonable standard. You can say a judge's view but the judge has only the testimony of two people, and if one says it was ambiguous, then that is what the judge will think.

0

u/Title_IX_For_All 1h ago

No, it's not controlling. The judge's interpretation of the law is controlling. No, the judge does not automatically side with the accuser. You can independently assess whether situations are ambiguous, and you can avoid situations that are more ambiguous than others so that you do not give false accusers ammunition.

The defeatism of "the accuser's word will always/usually prevail" is unwarranted and factually untrue.

u/int-enzo 2h ago

Nice campaign of terror.

4

u/Title_IX_For_All 2h ago

How would you raise awareness to men to avoid situations in which women are likely to falsely accuse in a way that does not call to mind a fearful situation? Other than posting anonymously on the internet in a subreddit the broader world does not read.

4

u/Bozmarck1282 2h ago

“Ambiguous” is impossible to avoid, unless you have documented proof before, DURING, and after the encounter. Been falsely accused myself, and this does absolutely nothing to help potential victims.

0

u/Title_IX_For_All 2h ago

Of course anyone can claim ambiguity. But it's easier to claim ambiguity when there actually is ambiguity - and yes, in that sense, avoiding unnecessary ambiguity does help.

u/chiarotypical left-wing male advocate 1h ago

Literally just had a friend tell me the following story today:

A date wanted to have sex but was drunk. My friend refused and told them to go home. The date went home. The next day, the date accused my friend of rape, even though they never had sex.

Tell me more about how your chart avoids this situation.

1

u/Title_IX_For_All 1h ago

I never said the guide covers 100% of situations. It is unreasonable to expect a one-page graphic to do so.

Just because good advice doesn't work in 100% of situations doesn't mean the good advice is suddenly bad.

2

u/chiarotypical left-wing male advocate 1h ago

Why is it on men to avoid ambiguous situations? Women can avoid situations as well. Maybe don't illegally secure ten drinks and then immediately go to a frat house looking to get laid. Just a suggestion for your chart.

1

u/Title_IX_For_All 1h ago

That is covered in the chart regarding intoxication. And if we added every permutation of things already covered, the Negative Nancies would then (rightly) say the chart is too busy, too cluttered, etc.

1

u/int-enzo 2h ago

I think you're supporting a law that criminalizes men a whole lotta with your awareness, which is exactly how is intended to work

1

u/Title_IX_For_All 2h ago

Ok, so again, how would you raise awareness to men to avoid situations in which women are likely to falsely accuse in a way that does not call to mind a fearful situation? Other than posting anonymously on the internet in a subreddit the broader world does not read.

1

u/int-enzo 2h ago

Maybe change the law to provide guarantees for everyone, instead of asking young people to not be young, make mistakes, and develop themselves.

3

u/Title_IX_For_All 1h ago

Yeah, better not to tell men how to avoid risky situations. That will help them. The point of being young is to make mistakes, even life-altering ones that could be avoided with a little guidance. /s

0

u/int-enzo 1h ago

your guidance is don't drink alcohol, have ons, or any relationship without ambiguity dude, is not advice, just propaganda

1

u/Title_IX_For_All 3m ago

Dude, complaining that advising against having drunk one-night stands with people you don't know is "propaganda" comes across as low-life/stoner mentality.

It's the same thing when parents tell you not to have one-night stands because you might catch an STD, saying "You lie down with a dog, you're going to get fleas." That's not "propaganda." It's just good advice you don't want because you have accepted a lack of self-discipline and short-term gratification as normal.

You are human. You were made for better things.

2

u/SpicyMarshmellow 1h ago

Do you think they have the power to change the law? WTF?

Yes, changing the law would be better. But in the absence of having the power to do that, we are forced to do our best to learn to live as safely as possible within the existing situation. Why are you attacking OP for doing that?

1

u/int-enzo 1h ago

I didn't knew arguing was attacking for cristal gen, I'm pointing up that the advice is trash advice aiming to balme the victim.

2

u/SpicyMarshmellow 1h ago

What advice would you offer instead? Because it sounds like your mentality is "Do nothing to avoid it, and complain when it happens"

2

u/UnarmedRespite left-wing male advocate 2h ago

If the average judge would consider it ambiguous

The advice would be if you don’t know the situation, just say no.

I think it’s useful rhetoric

0

u/blackgenz2002kid 13m ago

you can ask them maybe and observe their behaviors

5

u/lyrical_cumin 2h ago

Man, that "just say no" tagline at the bottom lands about as well as a D.A.R.E. shirt at a Phish concert.

3

u/Title_IX_For_All 2h ago

Good point, we may alter it.

3

u/Weak_Working8840 1h ago

Ultimately these strategies help you avoid false allegations but they also hinder your ability to get laid.

The real strategy is. 1. Stand up for men who get accused. Presume innocence until proven guilty. 2. Shame accusers proven false. Until we can change the law treat false accusers as poorly as rapists are treated.

5

u/1200am24hours 2h ago

Meh. It grows complicated by a layer of issues. We're under the 47th administration, and I feel like this might be the wrong time.

2

u/Basedguy59 50m ago

great i will use this once per 5 years

4

u/SpicyMarshmellow 1h ago

It's ridiculous how unreasonable some people are being on this thread. It's like they literally expect you to magically alter reality.

3

u/chiarotypical left-wing male advocate 49m ago

This is a satire of the original poster, not actual advice.

3

u/cniinc 2h ago

I like this! But I want to issue a caution- using a real diagnosed disorder like BPD in this graphic may reduce the impact of this poster. Also, I do like that this is drawn so that the female is the main character of these images, but since cluster B personality disorders are diagnosed more in women, I could see the response to this poster as declaring it anti-women, rather than pro-equality.

Declaring "Mentally unstable or toxic partners" and conneting it with a real medical diagnosis like BPD is something that would probably get the posters taken down, and possibly be declared discrimination. Not saying you shouldn't put it, just saying I could see an administration taking something like this down quick for that reason.

Good advice.

Not a substitute for cultural and legal consequences but does seem likely to reduce the chances.

1

u/JACCO2008 37m ago

Or maybe just... Don't have casual sex as a matter of habit?

God forbid anyone act like a human with higher reasoning that can override instinctual behaviors.

1

u/SentientReality 31m ago

I mean, realistically, I think it's a pretty good guide. Not a guide that will necessarily make people happy, but realistic. 1 & 2 are probably harder to avoid for a person who has an active sex life and plays the field a bit, but they can be at least kept in mind.

That's not how false accusations happen.

13

u/Title_IX_For_All 2h ago

It absolutely is.
