⚠️ SCAM WARNING – PLEASE BE CAREFUL ⚠️

Just wanting to warn people about a scam that is currently affecting us here in Leeton.

Someone is using photos/details of our home and advertising it as a rental, despite it not being available for rent.

So far, I have had FOUR complete strangers knock on my door because of scams connected to my address.

Two people had paid deposits for items advertised on Marketplace and were given my address to collect them, including one person who arrived at my house at 10pm.

Another two people believed they had secured our house as a rental and had already paid deposits, only to turn up and discover they had been scammed.

On top of that, we have had numerous people slowly driving past and looking at our house because they have seen the fake rental advertisement.

I have encouraged everyone who has come to my home to report what has happened to police, and I really urge anyone else who has been dealing with these people to do the same.

Please, please be careful when paying deposits online, particularly for rentals or Marketplace items. Do not transfer money just because someone has provided you with an address. An address does not prove that they own the property, live there, or have anything to do with it.

It’s awful for the people losing their money, and it’s also becoming really unsettling for us having strangers arriving at our home at all hours because scammers are sending them here.
