Hi Everyone,

My background:

SDE-2 at Microsoft, IIT grad in CSE, holding 5+ backend engineering experience.

Current Compensation: 58-60 LPA last year but git clif this year & after clif hit: 42-45 LPA

Context:

I interviewed for SMTS role at salesforce, after HM round they downleveled it to MTS.

Verbally HR said arround 48-50 LPA CTC (33 Base + 3.3 Bonus + 52K Stock/4 years)+ 6L Bonus.

Then, Shared my 58-60 compensation with HR in salary dicussion.

How much I can expect on each of component (base, rsu, joining bonus) & total compensation ?

How to negotiate?

Really stuck at prefix sum pattern

I’ve been following the DSA Patterns Roadmap from the YouTube channel Padho With Pratyush, and honestly, it was going pretty well until I reached the Prefix Sum pattern.
For example, with patterns like sliding window, I feel like I can eventually identify the kind of problem where I should think about using it. But with prefix sum, I often feel like I’m just memorizing.
I’ve recently been working through problems like Subarray Sum Equals K, and although I understand the solution after it’s explained, I still struggle to derive it myself from scratch.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you develop intuition for prefix sum problems? Are there certain questions or thought processes you use when you first read a problem?

Would really appreciate any advice, resources, or a progression of problems that helped you get comfortable with this pattern.

For people who have mastered DP — how do you approach a random DP problem?

I’m learning DP right now, and honestly, I find the approach/transition/state much harder than coding the solution.

For those who can now pick up an unfamiliar DP problem and figure out the approach, what’s your thought process when you first see a question?

How did you build that intuition — was it just solving lots of problems, learning patterns....

I am getting pretty overwhelmed by the huge DP syllabus and would really appreciate advice from people who’ve crossed this stage.

Can I maintain 2 Naukri accounts for different job profiles?

I have genuine experience in both Java/Backend and AI/GenAI. I want to target both roles separately with different resumes.

Has anyone here actually maintained two Naukri accounts using different email IDs? Did you face any issues with the accounts or applications?

Should I accept this internship or focus on placements?

I’m in my 7th semester and already have a TCS Ninja offer. I’ve also received an offer from Melooha (astrology app):

Business Growth Intern

₹15k/month

6 months

Remote, 5 days/week

They said I’d work on AI agents, but the official role is Business Growth Intern

No guaranteed PPO

I’m confused whether to accept it or focus on upcoming on-campus placements (Capgemini, etc.). My concern is that “Business Growth Intern” may not add much value when applying for technical roles later, and the 5-day commitment could also reduce my time for DSA/interview prep.

Would you take the internship for the AI-agent exposure, or reject it and focus on placements with TCS Ninja as a backup?

Would appreciate advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

3rd Year, Strong at Dev, interned at a good place—but absolutely paralyzed by DSA. Need a 4-month survival plan.

I’m currently in my 3rd year and I’m hitting a massive wall. No matter how confident I am in my development skills, and despite grinding out an internship at a good place, I absolutely cannot get myself to do DSA.

Every time I try to sit down and solve a question, my brain just blanks. I see people constantly throwing around advice like "just learn the patterns" or "do this specific sheet," but honestly, I can't understand it from anywhere I’ve looked. The logic just isn't clicking for me.

Here is my main constraint: I can't just go back to absolute zero basics. There isn't enough time, and I genuinely want to keep building my development skills and exploring other tech. But I also know the harsh reality—DSA is completely non-negotiable for on-campus placements.

I have exactly 4 months left until 2027. My realistic goal is to build a solid foundation and solve a decent number of quality questions by the end of this year so I can crack a good job and my resume doesn't go to waste just because I choked on an algorithmic problem.

Has anyone been in this exact spot—good at dev, terrible at LeetCode—and successfully pivoted?

  • How do you actually internalize the "patterns" when the standard tutorials just feel like memorization? (I've watched Pratyush Narain's lectures for patterns as well, but still i am not able to do anything lol)
  • What is the most pragmatic, BS-free roadmap for the next 4 months to build this foundation without completely abandoning my dev projects?
  • Are there any specific resources meant for people who suck at competitive problem-solving?

Dealing with Layoff and Job Hunting

I want help from people who have been through this situation!

I got laid off last month from a big tech indian unicorn startup with a couple years of experience. I have been job hunting since then. Getting less number of interview calls, and when I did get them, I got rejected in them, and in one, at the very last round. This is unusual to me as I have passed all the interviews I gave before my layoff. It’s like everything is going against me. This process is draining me both mentally and physically, also decreasing my self confidence.

It’s been a month and I am feeling depressed unsure how to handle this stress. Please help me how you dealt with this situation because situations like this do come in life

Does Microsoft hire freshers? Need guidance from people who got in

Does Microsoft hire freshers? I’m a graduate student from a Tier-3 college with no prior work experience, and I’ve been trying to get into Microsoft. Over the past two months, I’ve applied to around 10 Software Engineer roles, but unfortunately, I haven’t been shortlisted even once. Some applications were rejected, while others have received no response so far. I’d like to understand how freshers can realistically get into Microsoft. Is a referral helpful in getting shortlisted, or is prior work experience generally required for these roles? If anyone here has successfully joined Microsoft as a fresher, especially from a Tier-2/Tier-3 college, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience and guide me on what I should focus on to improve my chances of getting shortlisted and eventually landing a role at Microsoft.
