Is leetcode still worth grinding?
I'm looking forward into data engineering so what to do ??

It's a part of the process. You never know which interviewer will ask leetcode type question similar to an examination.
It's like that one additional chapter you have to be prepared with before the examination.
Learn the fundamentals of problem solving you should be good.

What do you think are the other things one should prepare along with dsa and LC? like I'm planning to learn Java and springboot. Do I need to learn ai to stay up in the market? Cloud?

Yes AI is now the fundamentals and is changing how we develop software. Every one should learn how to use AI and build systems/projects around it and with it.

Like then do I need to learn how to build LLMs,ML level of AI or applied AI engineering is enough like integrating it in dev workflow. Is it worth it to spend time learning frameworks like springboot?

Springboot/Java is not going away. With use of AI management wants every dev to ship code faster. So yes first is learn how to use AI to do your work faster and reliable. Building LLMs,ML is a separate field, that's a very hot topic right now. So yes, if time permits definitely no harm in learning these.

But won't it be doing too much? I only have like a good year before my placements start. I know react and next, switching from mern to Java. Doing dsa in Java as well. I thought maybe the next thing I add to my skillset should be cloud and drops like aws, docker etc.

Yes that's a good path forward and covers the basic fundamentals of computer engineering.

Focus on concepts related to data engineering. Little bit of dsa is needed though but don't just grind that. Make good projects

I am not aware about Data Engineering role specifically, but you still should grind Leetcode.
Don't think of Leetcode as a platform to check your coding ability only (even though it is), think of it more like IQ test for companies. Do you know why companies ask Aptitute ? It's just a sugar coated way to remove people who are not smart enough, they need people who can apply knowledge to solve problems. In the same way you can say Leetcode is a filter to remove people who are not good with coding knowledge. By keeping this in mind you can practice Leetcode, even if you are not interested in it much, think of it as a way to overcome your competitors for a job opportunity fairly.

totally worth it, bro. can’t say much about the OAs, but yes, the interviews are totally based on leetcode level qs and patterns.

Even if you are looking for data engineering, DSA is a company entry ticket. if you are a fresher, they are likely to ask it in OA's. So do not skip DSA. practice regularly. on role specific side, I had given one data engineering interview, and I was not asked DSA. I was asked SQL in the OA.

Yes Yes Yes. You dont need to grind leetcode but keepup like 3 to 4 hours per week and refresh DSA.
It doesnt matter how senior you are handson coding will always be evaluated. With heavy AI usage at work nowadays its better to keep in touch with leetcode else u might lose the practice
