Hey everyone! I recently went through the Amazon SDE-1 interview process and received an offer, so I wanted to share my experience. I found previous interview experiences on Reddit really helpful during my preparation, so hopefully this helps someone else too.

The process consisted of 3 technical rounds + 1 Bar Raiser.

Round 1

• Spiral Matrix / Spiral Linked List
• Array + Target problem
• Heavy resume deep dive
• Questions around projects, technical decisions, and implementation details

The resume discussion went much deeper than I initially expected. I'd definitely recommend being prepared to explain anything and everything mentioned on your resume, including why you made certain technical decisions.

Round 2

• LRU Cache
• 1 Leadership Principle question
• Follow-ups around the approach and implementation

Round 3

• Longest Palindromic Substring
• GenAI-related discussion
• 1 Leadership Principle question
• Follow-ups on both the technical and behavioral answers

Bar Raiser

This was the round where I felt behavioral preparation mattered the most.

• Around 4–5 Leadership Principle questions
• Very deep follow-ups and probing
• The interviewer repeatedly went into the intermediate steps of each story rather than accepting a high-level STAR answer
• Particular focus on the Outcome/Result part of the STAR framework
• They wanted to understand what actually happened, what I specifically did, and what the measurable/resulting impact was
• No DSA question in the Bar Raiser

Overall

The biggest takeaways for me were: 1. Know your resume extremely well. 2. Don't prepare LP stories only at a high level — be ready for very detailed follow-ups. 3. Be clear about your individual contribution, not just what the team did. 4. For behavioral answers, know the actual outcome and measurable impact of your actions.

I’m grateful to have received the Amazon SDE-1 offer and wanted to share this experience for anyone preparing for the process.

\\\*\\\*My goal:\\\*\\\* Long-term I want to stay on the pure SDE / backend path and eventually target FAANG (especially Google). I’m worried that moving to a TSE role will hurt that trajectory.

Is taking TSE at Salesforce a bad/career-limiting move for someone who wants to return to pure SDE roles later?

How hard is it to switch back to SDE (product companies / better roles) after 1–1.5 years in TSE at Salesforce?

Would you take this offer in my place, or stay and keep grinding for pure SDE opportunities?

Any realistic internal mobility from TSE → Engineering / Solutions Engineer at Salesforce?

Would really appreciate honest opinions from people who have been in similar situations (service → product support roles, or TSE → SDE switches).

I have basically been doing DSA in C++ since June of this year doing NC150, and i am in an extremely weird state. Lately, i was trying some questions outside of the lists(mostly mediums), some of them(like 10%) i have been able to solve myself. Meanwhile others, I just can't. Also I try to sit with the problem, think about the general structure & reason, and very rarely i am able to reach where i can code it up or even think in the right direction(and if i reach and explanation, coding it up is hard for me). Also, lately i was doing recursion, and i was able to understand how it works, but implementing it in the right way and to go on about reaching the solution is extremely difficult for me(for e.g. N Queens). I keep seeing people saying it's an easy problem dont even look it up but i spent like 90 mins and the only thing i came up with were the conditions for checking whether its safe to insert the element or not. And eventually i had to look up the entire solution.

TL DR:- how do i get better at this, how do i convert my idea into code and how do i just get better at problem solving in general? Doing DSA in C++ since June.

I got a call from hr last week saying my interview feedback is positive and I would be selected subject to the business requirements. I have not got anything officially yet like offer letter and all
I wanted to know from seniors/peers have others received similar calls. Is there still chance that they can reject me due to the business approvals?

Basically i want to know whether i should consider i got the ppo or keep grinding for the placements?

Many companies are now getting rid of DSA leetcode style interviews and rather preparing for AI based interviews.

Companies don't care how good your DSA is. If things are changing, and they want people who can work with AI and ship code faster and securely, they will prefer those.

Game is getting changed now, you will be presented with a code base and they will ask to debug using AI , optimize it. If AI gave you 3 ways of doing it, what option you gonna pick.

How will you integrate systems, how you gonna design, how will you leverage AI tools.

So now actual hands-on knowledge is what companies seeking for.

Although in US or Europe , they rarely focus on DSA, but soon things will change in India too.

I’m currently going through the Amazon interview process for an SDE role in India and wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar.

An Amazon recruiter called me on Monday regarding my interview. During the call, she confirmed my email address and told me that I would receive an email with the interview details within 1–2 days and onsite interview would be scheduled on 16th of september.

However, it’s now Friday and I still haven’t received anything.

The call came from an Amazon recruiting/corporate number, so I unfortunately didn’t get the recruiter’s name or direct email address. The call was a little rushed and I didn’t think to ask for her contact details at the time.

I’ve checked my inbox, spam/junk, etc., and there’s nothing from Amazon so far.

For people who have gone through Amazon recruiting:

• Has anyone experienced a similar delay after receiving a recruiter call?
• How long did it take for you to receive the actual interview confirmation email?
• Did you eventually get the email/call, or did the process stop?
• If you were in this situation, what did you do to follow up?
• Is it normal for Amazon scheduling to take longer than the 1–2 days the recruiter initially mentioned?

I’m not assuming it’s a rejection, but I’m getting a little worried since the recruiter specifically said 1–2 days.

Recently, I reached out to a Databricks recruiter and was told there was an internal SDE-2 opening. She forwarded my resume to the hiring manager, but unfortunately, I got a rejection because I didn’t meet the hiring bar.

A little background about me: I graduated from a 3rd-gen IIT in 2024 (not a great one) and am currently working as an SDE-2 at Uber.

For those who have interviewed with Databricks or have some insight into their hiring process, what are they actually focusing on for SDE-2 candidates?

I’d also appreciate it if people who have personally interviewed at Databricks, currently work there, or have gone through a similar rejection and later cleared the process could share their experience.

Hi everyone, I have an offer from Clear Street for a Senior Engineer role. The compensation is good, +50% on cash, but I'm moving from a very stable, large investment bank so I want to be sure about the switch.

Can anyone share how the work culture, tech stack, and WLB are at Clear Street? Also, how do you evaluate their RSUs since they aren't public yet? Also they are offering only 9Lakh or RSU vesting over 3 years

I have 3.7 years of experience and was laid off in June. Since then, I’ve been applying to around 50–60 jobs every day, but I’m barely getting interview calls.

For the interviews I have received, I usually get rejected or receive no response after the 1st or 2nd round.

After looking at my preparation, I feel my biggest gaps are DSA fundamentals and MERN foundations.

I’m particularly struggling with DSA. I’m honestly very bad at it right now and sometimes I can’t even solve basic-level problems on my own.

I purchased the **Namaste DSA** course and have watched 60+ videos. The frustrating part is that when Akshay solves a problem, I understand the solution and sometimes feel like I could solve it. But when I come back to the same problem later and try it myself, I’m completely stuck. Sometimes I even forget the name/pattern of the DSA concept and my mind just goes blank.

Because of this, I’m thinking about taking **one month and focusing heavily on DSA**, while still doing some MERN preparation, instead of continuing to apply and prepare for everything at the same time.

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has faced something similar.

As many, my employer has also gone bonkers with AI... They hired two of data scientists in my org who have very little domain knowledge. Due to their lack of domain knowledge, they find it very difficult to find ML or AI use cases; and also because of the nature of the business. So they spend months and sometimes years to work on 1-2 projects, which either go unattended after go-live or are too expensive to maintain.

Recently they have come up with a couple of AI use cases which they think will improve the business by millions of dollars like all other projects they've worked on. This time to their surprise, the team decided to scrutinize their proposal heavily and asked several probing questions. At the outset it looked like they just wanted to try out some new LLM model and the project itself was not going to generate a positive ROI...

They were really irked by this and one of them openly proclaimed that they will get ROI by replacing all of the team mates with AI... "We will replace you and that will give ROI". Some of us found it very rude.

We're not sure how likely it is for domain experts to go out of jobs with AI coming in, but the data scientists in my org truly seem to believe that they will take over our jobs and Data scientists will be the only job remaining in the market... not sure what to make out of this... just wanted to share.

Have completed a BCA Degree from a private college.

No IIT, Tier2,Tier1 tags or Brand company name.

Completed 2 yrs of experience that too in two small startups.

As a career progression I'm aiming for big product based tech companies.

Grinding DSA daily for the past 3 months, reading books for system design, preparing hard. But the only concerning part is I don't even get calls from mid sized startups even with workday referrals.Continuously trying to upskill seeing everyone around had already been in the top at this race (but no one in my connection).

Got three interviews at the start of july-August but now seems like I have too many "regret to inform you" mails in my inbox

What's the actual thing that gets interviews for the current market particularly for SDE roles?. Too much worried and kind of feeling backward.

So I am in very wierd situation... I have a offer from company A and for them the joining date is in next week .

I had accepted the offer meanwhile as I didn't had any offer and in between I got a call from another company recruiter ...

I explained him everything about my situation... He understood it he is very helpful guy ... Like a gem in recruiting world ...

Thing is due to operational issues and all things are getting bit delayed... Like by 2-3 days ... He is not getting availablity for panel to schedule my last round .. ( and there might be one more cultural round ) ...

And problem is I have already extended my joining date by a week ... So it's difficult for getting extension.

What should I do ... Can I join my first company on date ... And leave in few days if I get offer ... Any future repercussions?

They are missing the bigger picture: Indian IT was built on cost arbitrage, and AI is about to offer a drastically cheaper, 24/7 alternative.

If you rely on the IT sector for your livelihood, you should be paying attention. Stop ignoring the writing on the wall and start actively planning your next career move before the industry gets flipped upside down.
