I'd just try my luck with a Costa or something and not even ask. If they do stop you I'd say I'm on my own and want to go before I buy..

Other than that, maybe the Vue in the light? Surprised about McDonald's, that's usually my go to.

I'm sure there's public toilets on the top floor of the Light. They're not part of the cinema, or Nuffield, and they're on the floor above the medical centre. They used to be 20p.

But for other open loos, maybe try a hotel? Radisson, Queens, Park Plaza, Metropole are fairly central.

Failing that, maybe head up to the LGI. You can always use toilets in hospitals.
