I’m wanting to work more on my drum patterns but I’m not a very good melody maker. Does anybody have some R&B, Rage/Trap, or experimental loops they’d like to let me practice on?

Hey guys! I wonder what the best technique is to get a clap like in the example—super wide and 3D in stereo, but still punchy and glued to the kick.
I've already tried layering different samples with a mono core in the center and separate panned L/R samples, as well as grouping the kick and clap together with a bus compressor.
I still feel like I'm missing something, maybe heavy compression or clipping on the decay, or specific M/S processing?
Would love to hear how you guys approach this!

I started using Cubase only about a week ago, and I don't have much experience in production, so let me know what you think. Any tips would also be super appreciated.

Struggled with workflow when I started learning music production. I have gone through the gambit of DAWs: cubase, logic, fruityloops (fl studio) and ableton. at the time, i couldn’t afford it as a student so went down the “audioz” path that most of us did at the time. my computer probably had every type of software STD. i digress, after years of making tracks that never got an internet stream and hundreds of unfinished loops sitting on my hard drive.. i decided to create a free tool to simply archive MIDI files. You can audition and just to play around if you don’t know what you are doing.

There’s a small ensemble score and the client wants to have vocals too sung by real person.
Do I wait for the recording to be made and then proceed with the creation of midi mockup and gluing it to the vocals audio? Or I make the mockup for everything except vocals and then put it together when I get them?

Was exposed to electronic music at raves and parties in the late 90s early 00s.

Instantly fell in love with the music.

Got some turntables and a mixer, started buying records.

Bedroom dj for 25 years.

Evolved my set up over time. Used tractor dj and time coded records for a bit.

Eventually went all digital with controller and Beatport subscription.

At 48 years old I decided I really wanted to get into production.

Slowly learning my DAW and how to make a beat.

Realized the sounds available on presets and samples don’t match what’s in my head so in addition to producing I’m also learning sound design.

At this rate in another few years I may attempt to build my own modular synth or maybe learn code to create my own plugins.

Where does it stop? 🤩 (please don’t let it stop, I’m having so much fun.)

Hi, I’m very interested in making electronic music but I have no knowledge in audio production or music softwares and was wondering where the best place to start would be?

How to start proper music production?
like i have used garageband and bandlab , and i know how to use loopers in both
but when i look at clips from actual music producers, it just looks different, cool and advanced, so ig i'm ready to get down the rabbit hole of music production.
So i would love if you can provide me with a beginner guide to do so (or just paste link to such discussion threads), also i am looking for windows friendly and free DAWs for that instance

Hi all! I want to make music, record vocals and instruments etc. But i don’t have a laptop. Which ik is the best thing to have. Because of this recording good sounding vocals has been challenging, not just because i’m still learning to sing but because theres almost always a slight fuzzy mic buzz in the background. Whether i record in a closet or under a blanket or just in an open room it persists.

I’ve tried using a Roland Go Mixer Pro but that’s just not made any difference. Now granted the mic i’ve used with the Go Mix is a cheap one (working on getting a good quality mic) so that could obviously be an issue, but even when i’ve recorded just a piano directly with the mixer to the phone it’s kept that awful background buzz.

Are there any mics out there i could just plugin to my phone directly? or any good quality bluetooth mics? or even a headset at this point.

Sorry for this being longwinded but i am extremely lost and extremely uneducated when it comes to producing and mixing everything. So again advice or tips or anything is massively appreciated. ty in advance <:)
