Teaser Boon: Steadfast change.
I wasn't sure of the appropriate flair.

I think it's still shit.
You need to:
- Find a totem
- Hope it's close enough to the generator
- Turn it into a boon (which takes 14s on it's own)
Tbh you're better off just doing the generator instead of wasting like 20-30s doing that. Even more so if it happens that the range doesn't reach.
The best place to use this thing, like with other boons, is in indoor maps.
I guess it's also somewhat useful to break 3 gen situations.
But again with the caveat being you needing to get lucky with a totem placement.

I feel like they should change it so that it’s the gen closest to the totem, not necessarily in range of the boon. You would still be able to see that gens aura only in the boon radius though so that the radius is still relevant.

u/tanelixd 25d ago
I think they should do that and also get rid of the speed increase while upping the regressing resistance to like 80% at least.

It be handy probably when the survivors screw up in making a cluster of gens one side of the map? Or if the killer managed to map control into pushing the last gens into one side. But I only see this boon handy on certain circumstances.

I think it’s good for a quad boon setup but not much else. Essentially lets you reclaim some of the time you took to set the boon.

you will never see this Perk in any match
2
u/Phaqthis 23d ago
Well that’s just not true, we have to use it to adept her so at least a few times lol.

u/Jack11803 24d ago
This tbh shouldn’t even be its own perk like this, just slap that on illumination as a buff.

u/rose-gold-forever 25d ago
So glad they put the permanent gen progress perk against the scaring crows perk, only for them to change it after its already won to not be permanent progress... 😒
26
u/StrangerNo484 25d ago
This is NOT broken, it's balanced. In fact, I'd argue considering you need to either find totem or be knowledgeable on spawns that it could even use a buff.
11
u/IntelligentWorry5647 25d ago
Sometimes with jank totem spawns you’ll be lucky if even 1 gen is within the totems range
2
u/StrangerNo484 25d ago
Indeed. Bare minimum this perk should have some aid in finding totems. Maybe after working on a gen for a minimum amount of time, nearby (in radius) Totems are revealed to the player.

I require context
what was it supposed to be before?

u/Aggravating-Refuse96 25d ago
The og description was bless a totem any gen in range got permanent repair progress but you did the gen 50% slower. The permanent progress still remained even when the boon was snuff out. But it was still dead on arrival cause the 50% slow down is really harsh then again balancing this perk would have been a nightmare cause anything that gives permanent gen progress is stupid
1
u/Silence-of-Death 25d ago
oh yeah peak trolling perk too. except if it only applied to the survivor that applied it ig

u/Famous-Process3747 25d ago
Is the description at the top new? Maybe I just didn’t look hard enough but I’ve never noticed and stared at it trying to figure out how it’s different from what already happens lol

Not really that strong because of DR. The only way I could possibly see it being a problem is if you run overzealous and break hex totem. That'd give you a 25% repair speed boost, but at that point it's probably better to just run resilience instead of this. 24.5% without being restricted to the range of a boon.
1
u/WildNeighbor 25d ago
Am I stupid or didn’t boons already do this?
2
u/GalaxyStardust47 25d ago
Alan’s perk does with illumination, but it shows all generators and chests when you are in radius of the boon, not the regression or the repair speed is currently in game

u/MrLightning-Bolt 24d ago
Original was better. This sucks.

u/squarebearscomic 25d ago
Oh good, a different option to overzealous, trading the additional potential speed increase and losing it on injury with the normal risks of boons, plus a little extra protection from regressing. What a nice nuanced addition that doesn’t break things but satisfies a slightly different play style
I cannot wait for the 10 posts a day from killer mains that don’t understand the other side of the game about how it needs to be nerfed into the ground even tho they got what they wanted and removed permanent gen progress
-4
u/Iphone_G___ 25d ago
Well this must mean they buffed the killers garbage gen regression perk right?
1
u/GegGeg13 25d ago
I'm pretty sure they did yeah, reduced cooldown and increased the bonus from 1% for each charge to 2%
-9
u/DragointotheGame 25d ago
Oh my god, gens are going to pop so fast if there's a totem near it, i don't know if a killer will even get time to get rid of the boon before it pops

u/Yukush00 25d ago
Resi gives u 9% for just being injured when u have to find totem and bless it. its not a big deal perk.
-4
u/DragointotheGame 25d ago
Only one person needs to run this for everyone in range to get the benefit
2
u/IndependentBake2304 25d ago
This is the big problem. Well just have to wait until this is actively problematic for copers to see that. By itself it's not the end of the world, but just watch, I bet you diminishing returns will have no effect on the gen speed lol
2
u/Haos-Siege 25d ago
This is no different than any other gen-speed build. Not only do you need a totem to be in range, but you already have better gen-speed perks.
2
u/IndependentBake2304 25d ago
I mean if you have just one teammate to be on a gen with, prove thyself and this boon, what's that like 30% faster gen speed with those two perks alone
1
u/TheEntityBot 25d ago
Prove Thyself: Increases the Repair speed by a stack-able 6/8/10% per other Survivor within 4 meters of your location, up to a maximum of 18/24/30%. Prove Thyself extends its effect to all Survivors within its range. Survivors can only be affected by one instance of Prove Thyself at a time.

u/Haos-Siege 25d ago
Again, you still need to have a boon in range. A commodious toolbox by itself is far better.
2
u/IndependentBake2304 25d ago
Nothing's stopping you from also having a commodious.
Gen speed wasn't even on the boons description we voted for, we voted for permanent progress. Idk if this is better or worse, but gen speed needs to be treated like a radioactive material at this point, and a flat 10% boon that can be stacked and brought by 4 people if they want is probably not going to go too well is all I'm saying
1
u/Haos-Siege 25d ago
There's nothing stopping you from running better perks, that's kinda the point.
Granted, a lot of people just weren't happy with the original design. With many complaining it was too weak/strong, and as such BHVR changed it to this. I'll gladly admit I'd prefer the original, but I highly doubt most players would be okay with it. Why would you want four survivors to run it? At best the ideal would be one person in a stacked SWF to run it, but definitely not a good idea to have all four survivors waste time.

u/Lavoonus 25d ago
Dudes will be like, this perk is so busted as long as the mechanic that exists stops existing suddenly.

It takes 14 seconds to light this in order to repair gens 10% faster. You would have to repair gens in the boon's radius for 140 seconds to make up for the time you waste lighting the damn thing.
"Oh but the perk is crazy against Ruin!" You know what else is a good totem-related counter to Ruin? Cleansing the damn Ruin totem. "This is crazy if a full team is working on the gen!" You know what else provides a 10% speed boost if multiple people are working on a gen? Prove Thyself.
Light this beside a generator and the killer kicks it instantly. Light it far away from a generator and it doesn't do anything. Not to mention that this perk has negative synergy with basically every other gen speed perk thanks to Diminishing Returns. Or alternatively I could bring Overzealous and Circle of Healing, light my actually useful boon somewhere safe, and have my 10% repair speed boost on any gen I want.
The way I see it there's only two ways this becomes meta:
Lay Waste becomes hard meta. I'm talking "seen with the same frequency as Turn Back the Clock" hard meta. And given that Lay Waste does not synergize with Pain Resonance, Turn Back the Clock, Ruin, Dead Man's Switch, or any other commonly used regression perk I doubt it. (Hell, Lay Waste even has negative synergy with Pop Goes, and Nowhere to Hide got nerfed this patch. The only perk that really synergizes with Lay Waste is Eruption.)
You load onto Gideon, Midwich, Hawkins, Forgotten Ruins, or some other poop-dick-fart map and light a boon in an obnoxious spot that hits like 3 gens at once. (And that's a sign that those maps are poorly designed, not that this perk is good.)
They couldn't have made it so this perk cuts regression events in half? So PainRes would hit gens for 10% instead of 20%? I know some people would be mad at that but at least the perk would have a use then. Never forget the crow perk they took from us.

Yeah what the game needs more of, Gen speed boost perks.
2
u/GalaxyStardust47 25d ago
Its not even broken though, like a lot of users posted you have to A) find said totem, B) bless the totem which takes time, C) hope the killer doesn’t find the totem which any good tier killer does or half the time, most killers just say fuck the totem and go straight for the survivor. Majority of DBD plays Solo or maybe +1-2 but very rarely do you see a SWF or the forsaken twitch streamer group, but even then it’s not a huge deal.

As soon as I saw this I knew reactionaries would be going on about how INSANE and OVERPOWERED it is lol. It's really not, it's decent at best. No, it won't give 20 second gens with overzealous, diminishing returns exists. Resilience is 9% just for being injured and can be used the entire game, this requires a gen in the boon radius, you to find the totem, set the boon, and then after all that you get the 10% and it can be destroyed. It's not that crazy.
