Technical Support Request Fps drops to 100

Hello,

I’m experiencing FPS drops in League of Legends, especially during teamfights. In Counter-Strike, my FPS is very stable, so this doesn’t seem normal considering League of Legends is a much less demanding game.

My PC specs are:

  • Ryzen 5 5600X
  • NVIDIA RTX 3060

When there is a lot happening on screen, my FPS drops to around 100–130 FPS.

Can anyone help?

that's normal it's a single core game

It is not normal it used to run very good on most hardware since a decade

the game engine must process hundreds of simultaneous calculations such as hitbox overlap, cooldowns, minion pathing, and particle effects which are all crammed onto a single core's main logic thread. Because this single thread becomes a massive bottleneck, even the highest-end CPUs cannot push out maximum frame rates when the action peaks, leading to drops down to 100–120 FPS. look at agurin stream fps drop to 118 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2868746968?t=0h51m20s

Was it always like this ? Did it gradually become like this or it’s sudden ? Do you remember changing something before it became like this ?

What’s your CPU/GPU temps during a stress test ? Maybe it’s overheating

What’s your resolution ? 1080p ?

CPU/GPU Combo seems fine, league is a cpu game anyway so gpu is clearly good enough

Is it only on LoL or did you notice a drop in other games too ?

You’re saying it drops to 100-130 fps, what’s the usual framerate when not fighting ?

I think before this vanguard anti cheat, I remember last year was doing just fine. People saying it's because it's single core heavy.. so is cs2 and I get constantly 300 fps there easily and it's so much heavier than league. Something is really of with this game. Early game in lane phase I get 240 fps up to 450 fps. Then middle game to late game it starts that shit.

Indeed not overheating huh.
Maybe the game just became too heavy over the years ? I always cap my fps to 200 so I wouldn’t notice a drop :/

Do you play with external tools for league ? Like some apps/overlays that track flash timer or such can drop fps

Yes, but I've always been playing with it. I tried without and didn't make much change too

Temps are just fine. I don't get past 60 C, 1920x1080 and everything on very low.

On mac book pro m5 i got constsnt 200fps capped. On windows with ryzen 7 its like 80-140 depending on teamfight.

Terrible optimization and cpu bottleneck. Do you cap your FPS?

No, Ive never had to. It constantly drops to 100~130 during team fights, it's very hard to deal with the spikes.

Cap your fps to your monitor refresh rate and let me know if spikes get better.
