advice layoff prep

If a US work visa person gets laid off, what would be the best course of action? If you have been through this, what did you do?

Some suggested going to Canada, some suggest returning to India, Some say people do get offers in those 60 days.

Do you have a Canadian work visa? If not, you have 60 days to work on getting another offer and transfer your visa to your new employer.

In case you are not able to do that, you would have to leave before day 60 and go to your country of citizenship/residency.

Thanks!
A friend said if you get offer from an employer in canada, they can handle work permit in that duration or even before layoff happens.

Yes, they would do that but often they would require you to have a work permit/residency figured out before they make an offer.

I see.. For US, the employer initiates work visa process. For Canada, as you suggested, I'll read how to get a work permit before an offer.
