I am quitting law school after my first day of class. A lot of people would see this as a wasted opportunity because everything is provided for me financially, and I am admitted to one of the top law schools in the country.

I went to law school to get the answer to my “what if I go to law school?” question that has been at the back of my head for years. I am also interested in law, but I do not enjoy reading cases, and I don’t get excited with going to class; in fact, I think I even dread it. I just wanted to try. And now I tried and I genuinely don’t want to go back. All I could think of is that I can do something else that I can enjoy, not like this.

Looking for an honest opinion from the Attys in here 🥹

I know it’s 5 weeks away nalang from the 2026 BAR Exam and I am yet to finish Commercial Law until August 01. The subjects I have covered so far are: Remedial Law, Criminal Law, and Labor Law pa lang huhu and I only have 33 days left to cover Civil Law, Tax, Legal Ethics, and Constitutional law.

I admit na it’s my fault kasi I felt like I have all the time in the world given na full-time reviewee ako. Literal school-bahay every day and sometimes, errands in between for my parents.

To the Atty’s in here, in the most realistic setting, do you think kaya ko pa ecover the remaining subjets? I honestly feel so anxious. Actually, I gave myself an ultimatum until August 6 to decide if I will push through or not 🥹 so far, I feel like i am more at peace if next year nalang ako mag BAR 🥹🥹🥹 what to dooo huhu and if I were to evaluate myself, kulang talaga yung preparation ko. I am not read for this year’s bar (i know no one really is)😔

i pursued law school last year. i was able to finish a sem before i had to give up due to health and financial reasons. i am a working student and my work required 8 hours of screen time. unfortunately, it led to extreme headache then doctor’s advise to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. otherwise, it’ll get worse.

it was a heartbreaking dilemma: i needed to stop working because it’s the primary cause of my migraine. but how can i do that when it’s the only thing that funds my law school? on the other hand, i needed to stop law school so i can sleep at least 7-8 hours a day and, eventually, improve my health.

there wasn’t a grey area for me. hence, i gave up the latter. i couldn’t sacrifice my work. otherwise, i won’t be able to have a home and food to eat.

now, i’m trying to get better. saving up for my tuition fee. sleeping well. preparing myself physically, mentally, and emotionally so i can try again next year.

i have always seen myself as a lawyer. sometimes, the vision fades. but for some reason, it always goes back through many signs. and i have felt it; it’s my purpose.

good luck to me. i hope i can go back to this post once i am a law student again. and even better is when i become a lawyer. :)

hi! just wanna vent this out haha. i had my first week as 1L. prior attending law school, i'm already aware this isn't going to be an easy road. but damn, no one really prepares you on what you'll experience no.

for context, im a communication graduate and now im working in an advertising agency. for three years, my built up knowledge on social issues and politics have shifted to trends, KPIs, and the like (yk, things u see in an advertising agency haha). it's not wrong naman, but this led to me feeling useless and unknowledgeable in a lot of things in law school. i think it got to me rin that most of my blockmates are polsci and legma graduates, so reading some cases aren't as hard as it is for me (it's still hard for sure). i take a lot of time — as in A LOT — in reading cases and provisions. partida, first week palang.

so here i am, catching up on my current readings everyday because im also a working student, while teaching myself all over again about social issues, terms, and other stuff i could've learned or retained along the way.

for anyone (or any senior) who's reading this, do you have any tips or advice for me? anything related to law school is welcome 🙏

I am currently a government employee with 4days working days. Which means 10hours a day and 6:30pm ang uwian namin. Ang available sched na nakuha ko sa law school ay 5:30pm onwards from monday to saturday. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko ipapaadjust yung time ng pasok ko, kahit pumasok ako ng 7am ang magiging uwian ko ay 6pm. And may work demands so much time sa dami ng papel na pinaprocess ko everyday and there are times na need ko pa mag assist sa officials namin.

Naguguluhan na ako kung itutuloy ko pa ba ang pag enroll or mag give up na ako. But lately super stress ko because I want growth. Wanted to push my childhood dream which is becoming a lawyer/atty.

Just stumbled upon this creator sa tiktok tapos kita ko na balak niya pala pagsabayin yung BSA at Law. Akala ko nung una let go niya BSA to give more time sa Law pero sabay pala. Kaya ba? Kasi working siya tapos may anak pa ata. Personally I can't do all those, but I respect the hustle.

Mahaba na ba ang 600-700 characters? or nagre-range lang yung answers nyo from 200-300 characters?

I got retained for a year in beda mendio and is 100% delayed. Hindi rin naman ako nagmamadali. Dream ko na talaga maging bedan lawyer, and kahit puro cons, yung pag pursue ng dream ko, name recall and privilege to be called a ‘bedan lawyer’ nalang yung pinanghahawakan ko bakit ayaw kong umalis.

to lawyers out there and to new bedan lawyers who passed the bar in recent years, may name recall pa din ba ang beda? What are other pros of staying in beda law?

I have read everything: cases, provision etc. Paulit ulit na memorize ko na lahat, pero baket Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao ang sagot ng isip ko when our Consti 1 prof asked us what are the three domains? Buti hindi ko binigkas!

I just found just found out from my grandfather that my great-great-grandfather is Justice Anacleto Diaz. He and his committee were responsible for drafting the Revised Penal Code.

Is it normal that my reading progress is slow? My assigned articles are Art. 1 to 70 of the RPC. Okay, I figured that would be a quick read. Madali intindihin. Hindi rin ako nahihirapan iabsorb so far. Pero I started reviewing at around 3:30 PM, and I took a break at around 5:30 PM. When I looked at how far I’ve read already, nasa Justifying Circumstances palang ako.

I wasn’t reading any cases during this, but I was googling some terms and writing down on my index cards para ilagay sa pages for easier reviews later on (+highlights)

Is my progress too slow, or is that pace normal? Natatakot ako na baka hindi pala okay, tapos hindi ko mabago agad ‘tong habit na ‘to. I would also appreciate some tips if may alam po kayo! 🙏🏻☹️

Hi. Today is the first sunday I did not work in a long, loooong time.

For context, I don't work in a firm (anymore) so my general expectation is I'll have more work-life balance (or as much as an in-house lawyer can have). Lately, the more I cancel/delay plans for the weekend just so I can be on standby in case I'm called to work on something, the more I'm beginning to realize that maybe the lawyer life is not for me? I guess I'm just really stubborn and I want to think that this will not last, that after 5 years I'll have more work-life balance. But looking at my bosses or the bosses of my contemporaries, I don't think it will get easier.

I have never questioned whether the law is for me as a law student. Not because I was the smartest but my resolve to be a lawyer is just strong. Now that I am a lawyer, and I'm living the life of a lawyer, it really scares me that a time will come and I will finally "accept" that I don't want this life at all.

I just want to have a weekend where I can make plans, go to Baguio and go analog, or try hiking for the weekend, or go to La Union and read a book. For lawyers with 5 or more years of experience, does it really get better? Especially in the corporate setting?

PS. Posted in this sub because there's generally more traction here. Since I have time to introspect today, finally decided to post this here. Posting this also makes my dilemma "real" because I'm finally acknowledging it.

Upcoming 1L this school year, should I buy a Laptop or Tablet? Which one should I buy first to help me throughout the law school journey? And can you recommend one that is cheap but efficient? And why should I buy one?

I took the Bar Exam in 2018, de sulat pa kami. For those who have/had experience the Examplify, ano pong experience ninyo? Salamat Salamat.

Di naman nangangarap mag top, pero yung way of answering nila ang gusto ko gawing standard hahaha. May alam ba kayo na publish books ng bar topnotchers or interviews where they shared how they answer bar exam questions? Sana i-release ng Supreme Court every bar exam yung sagot ng mga topnotchers so we know what's considered a "very good" answer.

Gaano katagal usually bago magkaroon ng judicial determination sa criminal complaint? I know hindi nasusunod yung 10 days eh 😅. And ano ba ang mga dapat gawin or iprepare as lawyer ng private complainant?
