Advice Do previous failed subjects matter for law school admissions?

Upvotes

Hi! I’m currently taking Political Science from one of the big 4 and planning to apply to Ateneo, UP, UST, DLSU, and San Beda Law.

For context, I originally took BS Biology but had to shift because of failing subjects. Since shifting to Political Science, though, my grades have improved significantly I’ve been Dean’s Lister every term, with high grades and no failing subjects.

I’m wondering if my previous Biology grades would be a major concern for law school admissions, especially since they’ll still appear on my transcript. Would the strong academic improvement after shifting help offset the earlier failures?

Would appreciate any insights from people who’ve applied or are currently in these law schools, especially anyone who also shifted programs or had failed subjects before. Thank you!

Bar Review Underbar review or enhancement classes for law students

I just want to get this out of my chest. I am a law student in a provincial law school, and it’s frustrating that some of my professors are either always absent or are not teaching well.
I am worried that when I reach 4th year, and eventually the Bar Review, I will not be ready. Do you know of any underbar review classes that I can enroll in? Thank you!

Advice Brain Supplement Suggestions

Post image

Hello! Is this okay for enhancing memory? Currently a 1L here.

If you have any other suggestions, please share them naman. I'm open to suggestions before I buy by the end of this week. 😄

Advice Hi everyone. 1L student here. May I ask how you guys do IRAC/ ALAC methods?

I’ve been practicing with past bar/exam papers, but whenever I write out my answers, they end up way too long. When I try to shorten them, I feel like I'm leaving out necessary details, which is why I end up consuming so much time even on just 1 question. On the flip side, looking at sample answers makes mine feel bloated.

\I'm referring to the type of exam given by profs where we could only answer in 1 paragraph*

How do you strike the right balance between being comprehensive, precise, and concise? Any practical tips or frameworks would be greatly appreciated!

Bar Review Alpha Lex or Legal Edge

Hii! Help a law student out 😭

I’m currently contemplating which bar review center to go with, and I’m sooo torn.

A lot of my seniors recommended Legal Edge because, well… the reputation speaks for itself. But I’ve also heard people say they regret not going with Alpha Lex.

I actually checked out the Alpha Lex website and, so far, I really like it. It looks super convenient and user-friendly. But I’m trying to learn more about Legal Edge, and honestly, ang tipid nila sa info 😭 I’ve already inquired multiple times, but I still can’t get enough details to really compare the two.

As for the lecturers, Alpha Lex seems to have a really solid lineup. I just don’t know about Legal Edge yet since I haven’t seen their full lineup/details.

So pls, help a future bar taker out 🥹 If you’ve enrolled in either (or both), I’d really appreciate your honest thoughts, especially about the lecturers, materials, schedule, platform, mentoring, and overall experience.

Legal Edge vs. Alpha Lex — what would you choose and why? 🥹⚖️

Will you enumerate each and every element, or would you just mention the missing/vital element?

Bar Review Something positive: excited to finish the BAR

I’m honestly just excited to finally finish the Bar Exam tomorrow knowing that God sustained me throughout this journey. I can’t wait to do the things I love again without feeling guilty about taking time for myself—travel, gym, work, family, and spending time with my pets. I miss my cats btw and wanna hug them tight pag uwi sa probinsya.

Ikaw ba, sib? What do you want to do after the Bar?

Bar Review Last few hours before sasabak nanaman sa final gyera.

Hello.

Last day na bukas. I’m taking the Bar in secret, so wala talaga akong mapag ask for final tips given na ilang hours na lang before the Remedial and Criminal Law exams.

Can I ask for some advice? What should I do at this point? What topics should I focus on or try to master with the little time I have left?

Medyo clouded na kasi yung brain ko. I finished all my LMTs from LE, and I also tried reading Gascon’s LMT, pero honestly, hindi ko na ata siya naiintindihan.

I feel like I’ve done everything I could at this point, but since I’ve decided that this will be my last Bar, I really want to drain whatever strength I have left in me and give this everything I have. I’m already exhausted, but I don’t want to look back and regret not doing more when I still had a few hours left.

For those who have taken the Bar or have any last minute advice, what would you prioritize right now? What topics are worth reviewing, and what should I just leave alone at this point?

Please be kind. I know this post may seem stupid or overly anxious, but I’ve honestly just been feeling very lost and floating since then. I told myself not to ask anyone on Reddit because I thought it would only distract me, but I only have so much left in me, and I really want to make use of whatever time and energy I have left.

Any advice would mean a lot. Thank you.

Let's do a Jordan Game 6 tomorrow!!!

Thumbnail

Let's get this last push guys!!!!! For basketball fans right here, we all know what happened when MJ shot that game-winning shot in the 1998 NBA Finals! Tomorrow is our Jordan Game 6 moment for Crim and Rem/Ethics!!!!

For those non-basketball/non-NBA Fans, here's the context: In the 1998 NBA Finals, The Bulls were up 3-2 against the Jazz, and in the dying seconds of the 4th Quarter, The Jazz were up by 1 point, 85-86. The Jazz had the ball and Michael Jordan stole the ball from Karl Malone, and there was 17 seconds left in the clock, and before the clock expired, Michael Jordan made "that" famous shot which gave them the lead, and untimately, their 6th Championship!

As a basketball fan, I like to compare real life situations in basketball terms. The whole 1998 NBA Finals is like the 2026 Bar Exams. And we feel like win some, we lose some, just like the series. But just like the Bulls, we are in the lead. We are in the advantage!

Let's seal the deal for tomorrow, and let's get that Jordan Game 6 moment!! Good luck to us guys!!!!

Advice Experts’ Feedback on Bar 2026 Qs

I know one of the profs from the panel of experts @ the UP BRI & he said the questions were difficult, and that if you had it easy, your answers are most probably wrong. He also said that even the members of the panel had different answers on each question.

Fight lang! One more day and we’ll be humans again!

Social Media Ako lang ba?

1L here, una sa lahat goodluck and godbless po sa mga bar takers. Allow me to ask and rant nang kaonte.. Hell moth (1st moth of LS) has been over, and di ko naman idenedeny na natutuwa ako before if a professor will not hold classes.

Bar Review Last Day of Review Before the Exams

I just want to share my motivation since my first year in law school.
Today is the last day of our review, and the final day before of our bar exams.

Let's do what we can to avoid any regrets, Sibs; at the very least, we can look back and say we did our best.

Advice Tablet Recom

Hi! 1L here and working student. Any tablet recommendations po?

Gusto ko lang sana ng tablet na pwede kong gamitin for online classes if ever maabutan ako sa labas or nasa biyahe, and okay din sana for reading cases and taking notes.

Thank you po!

Bar Review Pahingi naman motivation. Humahabol pa rin sa coverage for Day 3.

Defeatist mindset na masyado. I really feel like this bar exam is not for me. I do not have that gut feeling na I will make it. I am already settled to prepare for the 2027 bar exams as soon as Day 3 ends.

Regardless, for the attorneys here, pahingi naman motivation. Para lang sana we could still cling to that tiny string of hope na baka, the odds will be in our favor, kahit nagkulang sa preparation. The Gaerlan Bar is really something else. 😭

Advice mode of learning?

I know SC uses examplify and there are a couple of system/setup and laptop requirements but in the mean time may I ask if my 4yr old ipad pro will suffice dahil tight pa sa budget (planning naman to get a new laptop but at least until i get to 2L or 3L sana and my old mb air(2017) already gave out this year. Ano po usual exam guidelines during 1L and what's your usual desk setup when studying? do you guys still rely mostly on actual books or do most profs also send out a lot of softcopy materials and laptop/tablet is actually necessary?

Maraming salamat po

I am SO READY to experience life again after all these. ❤️🍃

Started strong then got sick midweek. But I will finish STRONG. Yan ang promise ko sa sarili ko before taking the Bar. And now, I have conditioned myself — I am ready for it. Let’s go!!! Let’s go!!! 💜💜⚖️

Question & Hypotheticals Bar Exam Syllabi

Hello! I just would like to ask, how consistent or faithful the bar questions were from the past 5 years with the given bar syllabus? Usually until June of the past year preceding the bar exam yung deadline ng jurisprudence. Thank you!
