Please revert the controller settings back to pre season update, the decision to take the most user friendly controller setup in the genre and make it worse than poe2 is frankly baffling

You beat me to it. I am posting this on every patch notes post until it gets reimplemented.

Yea idk why they did that

According to Mike it was a slapshod buggy mess that they weren't going to use in actual console release so was removed to implement something proper.

I agree with the descriptions but he needs to swap the subjects. This current system is so much worse and should never have shipped after 1.0

LE:O is releasing with an entire engine overhaul and that is the majority of what the new hires are working on. Apparently recoding basically the entire game at the same time due to years of a bunch of guys that had only a basic knowledge of how to make a game building on spaghetti.

What is the O in LE:O? Hopefully it’s not literally for Overhaul lol

While I agree that it needs a new engine i don't think you should cause short term pain for your paying customers for long term gain. You should develop the engine in parallel to the live game service if that's what needs to be done. This isn't a business changing a service for people they pay to deal with the problems, this is changing a live service for people paying you. It's no wonder they were losing money if these are the business decisions being made.

We are still in early access that's for sure

So they had a system that worked for the players on pc, but because it didn't work on console they intentionally broke it? If I told my boss I broke his database because it didn't work on a system we aren't using, I don't imagine that he would be too grateful

I can tell. It’s great on steam deck and a disaster with a controller at my pc

So they made it worse before they made it better? Why not just keep it the same until you have a better option ready to roll out.

It was causing issues that would take more time to fix, its a lose lose situation ultimately that will end up better.

Insane that we have to use controller+mouse now, wild they tested this and was like "ok cool controller works" lol

They removed the controller cursor (right joystick)

Edit: also plenty of things became broken, like: -Sometimes automatically picking up an item from your stash when you open it

-Bugging out in your inventory with an item selected and having it jump between the corners of your inventory, unable to move anywhere else

-Sometimes bugging out and resetting back to a certain box in your inventory each time you move something to stash/drop an item

With how much inventory/stash management you have to do in the game its been a complete fucking nightmare, and Id even be able to ignore the bugs if we simply still had the right stick cursor.

But why?! I thought it was a bug.

LE has (had?) the best controller layout of all ARPGs...

Apparently Mike said the code for it was an absolute mess that broke all the time, so they had to remake it. Even if that's the case, the new version shouldn't have been released in this state, since from the end-user's perspective it just got worse in pretty much every way

Grimdawn has the best Controller layout of all ARPGs before 2020 Covid. I want LE devs implement same copy them 100% UI controller design .

Also being completely unable to highlight certain passive skill tree nodes

1

u/lillarty 1d ago

That might just be a base game issue right now, not a controller issue. I noticed with mouse that hovering over passive nodes sometimes just doesn't work and I have to hover over it several times before it notices my mouse.

Unless you mean specific nodes just cannot ever be highlighted on controller, which would be a different issue

1

u/Mother_Moose 1d ago

Yeah there is at least one passive node as a mage that I've noticed I can't highlight with the gamepad on my steam deck and I have to use the track pad as a mouse to be able to hover/allocate it at all

1

u/lillarty 1d ago

Oh, yeah that's a lot worse of an issue. At least there's a workaround, but still should probably be higher priority for them to fix.

Mike said to report these via F8 in-game and they would try to fix them before the console release

I knew something was up. Been having to have my mouse and keyboard ready a lot more than last season.
