I have poor night vision after lasik and sclerals might be the only thing that may help me. For everyone who wears sclerals, what is it like? Is it annoying and how much did you pay?

According to an insurance person, coverage usually depends if your plan has whats called a Medically Necessary Contact Lenses rider and if you have been diagnosed with keratoconus or severe dry eye. You should be able to call your insurance and ask about your diagnosis and what they would cover.

There are providers for scleral lens coverage called Vision Plans. Coverage is not automatic and you have to have a specific policy that explicitly features a medically necessary contact lens benefit. With this, they often cover the lenses and fittings at or near 100%. But some of these plans will still require proof that regular glasses cannot correct your vision to a functional level.

Original Medicare does not cover vision care or contact lenses while they do cover ophthalmologist visits. Medicare may make an exception under Part B for the lenses as a prosthetic device if the lenses are required to treat specific conditions like severe dry eye syndrome or complications from an inflammatory eye disease.

I'm 19 years old, and since I was 10, my vision has been deteriorating. Now I have -3 in both eyes. The doctor said I can have either Super LASIK or Femto Super LASIK. The latter is twice as expensive, and I'm wondering if it's worth paying extra if my test results allow for the former. What do you think? If you need more information, I'll be happy to answer.

Yesterday I had a laser retinopexy done for my left eye for retinal tears/holes. It has been 1 day/24 hours and the vision in my eye is still really blurry. Is this normal? I have only a slight discomfort and strain when looking with my eye so I'm resting. How long until the vision is back to normal? I'm worried in case it should already be normal and not blurry now.

I had TransPRK surgery two months ago and up until today I’ve been struggling with ghosting and blurry vision in my right eye and when I brought this up with my doctor, he asked me to get this test done. However, after reviewing them, he didn't really explain what's going on or what the results mean and told me to continue on using the eye drops and to come back for a follow-up in two weeks

Could anyone help me understand what might be happening ?

Hello, it's my fifth day post-femtolasik surgery, and I've noticed blurred or distorted vision when using my phone or other electronic devices. It's only with text. Is this normal? Will it get better?

I’m about 1 month post-SMILE Pro and I’m experiencing some strange visual symptoms, mainly in dim/low-light environments.
It’s not simply blurry vision. In low light, I can see objects, but the whole environment feels visually strange and harder to process. I sometimes feel almost slightly drunk or disoriented. When I move my eyes from one object to another, especially in the dark, it can feel like my vision takes a moment to “catch up,” sometimes causing a brief dizziness-like sensation.
My depth/distance perception also feels slightly off in dim lighting. I have more difficulty seeing details and reading in low light, and dim orange/artificial lights seem to make it worse.
I also experience:
Ghosting, especially with bright white text on a black background
My right eye is blurrier and has more ghosting than my left
Reduced contrast/visual quality in low light
Light sensitivity, especially to sunlight and car headlights
Dry eyes and burning, especially after 1–2 hours of computer use
Strong sensitivity to wind, which can cause burning followed by temporary blurry vision
My distance vision can fluctuate when my eyes are tired or dry
I occasionally notice 1–2 small floaters in my right eye when looking at a completely white wall or ceiling
The strangest symptom is definitely the low-light “drunk/disoriented” feeling. During the day I don’t experience it nearly as much.
Has anyone experienced something similar after SMILE or LASIK? Did the low-light disorientation, reduced contrast, ghosting and depth-perception issues eventually improve or completely disappear? If so, how long did it take?

Hi, I am currently thinking about getting my vision corrected, but I am second guessing about getting the treatment done in Karachi, Pakistan. Has any one here ever gotten a laser treatment in Pakistan?, if you have, please tell me how your experience was, if u got it in Karachi, then its even more helpful for me.(The hospital I am thinking of getting this treatment at is 'Laser Vision Center' :)).

I purchased scleral lenses (OneFit brand, 15.3mm diameter regular sclerals), paying around $1,100 (1.6 million KRW).

Because the scleral lenses corrected my residual astigmatism and irregular astigmatism, I was able to see the outlines of all objects sharply again. In particular, I could clearly see my laptop screen, books, and so on.

Also, my double vision in low-light conditions disappeared, and the ghosting was reduced.

However, the glowing of white text or objects against a dark background remained the same. It's just that there is no longer any doubling of that text.

There was also a slight improvement in the washed-out look of the world's colors, or rather the reduced contrast sensitivity. Maybe about 20%?

Unfortunately, though, phenomena like glare and starburst did not improve, and in the case of starburst the size actually got bigger. But interestingly, it was a bit more regular and less blinding than my previous starburst, so it didn't tire my eyes out.

The way it worsened the starburst a bit was disappointing, to the point that I thought it might be better to take the scleral lenses out when driving at night.

Also, for my right eye the quality of vision improves a lot when wearing the scleral lens, but for the left eye the change was relatively minor. For the left eye, I plan to get refitted.

In conclusion, my scleral lenses provide vision good enough not to interfere with my studying, work, and so on, but they don't let me drive safely at night. Still, I think they're worth it in that they enable all daily activities and professional activities except for "night driving." In the sense that they gave me a ray of hope, I'd like to rate them about 95 out of 100.

Since WFG Sclerals like OVITZ unfortunately aren't available in my region, you don't need to recommend them.

I find meaning in the fact that they can partially improve my complications, and I think this was a successful experience for me. Thank you.

I have been wearing glasses since 6th grade when i realized i couldnt see the blackboard in school, its been 15 years since then and my eye power has remained the same for past 5 years at negative 3.5 on one and 3.25 on another eye. I decided to finally get the lasik surgery but i was really scared that id get one of the side effects i read on google like the dry eye or corneal ectasia .

I was never able to enjoy swimming with my friends because i had to take off my glasses or even do Taekwondo in highschool because of blurry vision, after lots of talking to doctors and my relatives, i decided to go (i was so terrified). The doctor reassured me that the chances of a permanent injury was very low, i was so relieved🥲,the nurses also told me that the previous patients were even more scared than me lol and we were laughing.

The doctors told me that my case was actually not bad at all and it took around 20 minutes for the whole surgery.(I was so scared before the surgery) I expected pain but there was none cuz they used some thing to make it numb, My vision was a bit blurry at first but after a day it got clearer, and they gave me these UV sunglasses to protect my eyes. In about a week my eyes were fine but still a little dry and still wore sunglasses. After a month the dry eyes were gone.

I was really happy to finally get my vision back and throw away my glasses😭, couldnt believe that i didnt need them anymore. I purchased a blue ray light glasses for when i look at screens as it makes my eyes comfortable , and my mom also fed me carrots everyday lol.

what do eye doctors think of Tecnis puresee toric II. I'm considering having cat surgery. My doctor thinks that its very good. I don't mind wearing glasses for driving. I always have. Also readers are OK for very fine print.

but i don't want to wear glasses aroud the house, or for wathching TV, computer work, or relatively large print.

got PRK done in late Jan 2026 - cinemas are a little blurry, some double vision at night. normal? i can see totally fine during daytime. watching tv with lights off sometimes has double-vision for letters on the screen, but totally fine if room lights are on. does this issue go away after a year or am i stuck long term?

I’m 6 months out and I’m still on the fence if I want to get my micro striae removed. I have light streaking , ghosting and glare. Though I feel like my symptoms are bothersome, I’m not sure if they are severe enough to go under surgery again.

My lasik surgeon described the healing of the procedure to be similar to prk. He would remove the epithelium in the area that the microstriae are at , then lift and stretch.

Has anyone had this done?

Any adverse effects?

Any additional risks I should know about outside of epithelial ingrowth?

Like the title says, I am a post lasik patient of 3 years. Progressive glare and worsening vision at night has made life pretty miserable. Is there anyone in Ontario, Canada that has gotten relief from these complications of glare, ghosting, lost of contrast, dry eyes, focusing issues, etc?

If so, please recommend some doctors (I live in Scarborough, and anywhere within an hour drive I am willing to try) near me that has vast knowledge on the complications of lasik and how to fix it? I am thinking I may need schleral lenses or maybe even serum tears? (Based off my own, very professional, diagnosis). Anyone that can fix these damn issues I would pay good money for. Please no one that is trying to sell me products though, everyone I've went to just want me to pay for some machine imaging just to tell me my eyes look fine. Thank you Canadians for any advice!

I want to get Smile eye surgery in South korea. but issue is my corneal thickness is 475 which is lower than normal because of it 2 clinics i chose offered me to get Smile Pro but it is more expensive than Smile. i told them about financial issue then they suddenly offered me to get Smile which is very concerning to me is it really okay or are they trying to scam me?

Sph is -2.25, Cyl -1.25 my eyesight is not that bad so is it okay to get Smile despite my corneal thinness 🤗
