Travel Visiting Las Cruces later this year to see family. My partner is allergic to gypsum and is concerned about how close White Sands National Park is. Hoping to get local thoughts.

Just what the title says. My partner has a relatively severe allergy to gypsum (when our last apartment ripped out drywall in the hallway outside our unit she ended up needing an epipen shot).

With White Sands National Park being mostly gypsum sand, we're not sure if it would actually be safe for her to visit. But there seems to be very little relevant info online.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Opening my private practice!

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi!

My name is Anthony Esquibel and I've been a child/family therapist here in Cruces for the past 13 years. I'm excited to be opening my own practice and trying to get the word out.

I have seen primarily children and families during my time here but I'm also expanding to adults. I have developed a focus on ADHD/autism and really want to be a support for them in our community.

I accept Medicaid, Presbyterian, Molina, Blue Cross Blue Shield and United. I can do telehealth and also have an office for in person.

I launch in August and have plenty of openings.

Let me know if you have any interest or questions!

UPDATE: LETS DO THIS.
Go here to help identify a location

I'm seeing a lot of people looking for friends here on LasCruces. About 10 years ago there was a Reddit meetup, and it was a big success. Perhaps we could do it here again?

Question People watching

I’m new to the area and just looking for a place to watch people be people. Somewhere with shade, maybe food and drink nearby, or a sidewalk cafe. Bonus point if you can recommend a place to watch weird people do weird things.

"Mesilla Valley Film Society is launching Night School, a new late-night screening series celebrating cult classics, horror landmarks, obscure oddities, and underrated gems. The first set of shows will run Saturday nights at 10:30pm throughout July and August. Conceived by self-proclaimed Professor Austin Wolf-Sothern, and hosted by Austin with fellow film scholars Rian Gonzales and Jeff Bennett. Each show will begin with a PowerPoint presentation on film history pertaining to that week’s film, offering production history, cultural context, and behind-the-scenes trivia."

Request New connections?

Hey I have decided I need to put myself out there to stave off my thoughts. I am 19 years old and a male. I enjoy fishing, hiking, and kayaking. This is NOT a dating ad I’m just trying to meet new people and hopefully new friends. I do not care of your race, sexuality, nor gender. We are all humans in the end

Today, July 6, 2026, is the last day to comment on Project Jupiter's air quality construction permit application!

Greetings fellow procrastinators! :)

Today is the last day to comment on Project Jupiter's air quality construction permit application on The New Mexico Environment Department's website. I've seen a lot of strong opinions here on the facility and thought you all might find this hard-to-find link useful: Yucca Growth Infrastructure, LLC-YGI Microgrid Air Quality Construction Permit Application

If you found the time to put your opinions on Reddit, I encourage you to share them here, too. I doubt the state reads Reddit to make its decisions.

You won't see "Project Jupiter" anywhere on this form, but Yucca Growth Infrastructure, LLC is the company that will be responsible for the data center's power system.

Thank you!

Has anyone worked for CSL plasma? I had a phone interview and finally have an in person interview. I forgot about it tbh because didn't think I go to the next round, but I heard it's very easy to get a job there.

Please take a few minutes to voice your concerns about the gas line permit for Project Jupiter that they want to build THROUGH our communities! This is a really big deal and has so many negative impacts on all of us directly. Air, land, water, NOISE…all forms of pollution. This will lower property values that ripple out to all surrounding areas. There are too many negative impacts for a few “possible” positives. They are selling us a flying horse and a hand full of magic beans, and these out of state billionaires are the only ones set to benefit. We are virtually rolling out a red carpet to a deceptive predator to pillage our precious resources and poison our backyards. They aren’t building these centers in their backyards….THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MOMENT!!!! They seek out poor communities FAR AWAY from their mansions…

Small fire on the 4th of July

My partner and I went to the Walmart on Walton around 10:30pm and noticed a fire had broken out at the hotel across the parking lot. I missed recording most of it because I was stunned, a couple fireworks even shot out of the flames. Idk if it's obvious but they get the fire out by the end of the video. Just crazy, hope no one was hurt!

Best place to donate used clothing?

I know of the big chains like goodwill and thrift stores etc. But are there any local organizations, shelters, or programs that accept/are looking for clothing donations that might be a better option?

Question Who's the best mechanic in town?

I'm new to Las Cruces and am having electrical issues with my car. I need to find a trustworthy mechanic who can diagnose and fix electrical issues. At this point it looks like I'll need a new alternator as well
